My only issue with Nadia is the following, in my opinion I cant help but notice that she seems to not fully understand that a significant contribution to her success is privilege and what most people are calling "pretty privilege " I say this cause she made videos were she would "clap back" at her haters but her reasoning comes from a place of trying to justify her hard. I'm not saying that she does not and that she has no talent but what she did not mention in those hater response videos if at all is that she is capitalising on her looks and privilege and I would have no problem with her if she didn't make those response hater videos or mention that shes lucky. If one were to look at her more provocative videos, do you honestly think she would get nearly as much attention and or fame she were overweight and or ugly?
I agree with you to an extent.
I don't know much about these 'clapback videos' and in no way am I saying that her appearance didn't make her comedic content more palatable, but I do believe it takes some hard work (maybe less work than others have to do) to market your brand and remain somewhat relevant throughout the years.
As things currently stand there's no doubt that 'beauty premium" can open doors for you that may not necessarily be open for people that aren't conventionally attractive. But perhaps we need to be more wary of acknowledging "pretty privilege" publicly when we're not contributing anything significant conversation - the bigger picture.
We already identified the problem, the topic has been explored by scholars, once again, openly acknowledging her privilege publicly doesn't contribute anything significant towards the conversation. In fact, it may do more harm than good to the young impressionable audience who consumes her content and might perpetuate the idea of pretty privilege. As a result, it becomes harder for us to abolish European beauty standards and for progressive movements such as body positivity to become the norm.
