  • The Roman and Stoic Philosopher Seneca wrote about the terrors of death in his Letters from a Stoic collection. In it, he talks about how we won’t exactly be ‘experiencing’ death, but rather, it will come and immediately pass away. In this sense, death is either not here at all, or it will pass us. Therefore, we shouldn’t worry ourselves about what death would feel like, since it will be a passing unnoticed sensation. Seneca further talks about loss as only the emotion of missing something gives power to a loss. In losing life, we can’t miss it because we won’t be conscious, therefore the loss shouldn’t be feared. #stoicism #seneca #lettersfromastoic

Seneca also said that death is the same feeling that we had before we were born. So there would be no suffering after death, or we would not have any recollection of suffering. But great vid! I am reading Seneca's letters for a second time right now and it always helps with my day.

I have a constant, terrible fear of death. All of the points that I think about and are stuck with are addressed by Seneca, and I know it to be true, but it's hard to come to term with it regardless. Even if there's no sensation of loss and pain to be experienced, to part from a world in which I am deeply in love with... Well, it brings terror to my mind while I am still alive, and nightmares whenever I dream. Somehow, even if it wouldn't be so bad after death doesn't matter; I simply am just terrified with the idea of losing "Myself" while I am still alive. And I guess... The only part that matters to us is the part when we are still alive, huh?
I'll rewatch this video a few more times, and hopefully that might... Help, in some of the worse times. Thank you for this video.

Same for me. Nothing has helped me overcome my fear of death. The idea that I would no longer exist is terrifying and unacceptable.

You may benefit from understanding eastern philosophies like Buddhism and Taoism. By truly being in the present moment, you realize that future is your imagination.
It seems that your own thoughts have turned against you but there is a solution if you seek it. There is no fear in stillness.

Great vid love seneca but you know i am a Daoist fanboy i think it was Chuang Tse that said "How do I know that the love of life is not a delusion? Or that the fear of death is not like a young person running away from home and unable to find his way back?

Since you've talked about facts on death can you talk about the facts on the rapture? aka the end of the world/the end times?

This video is 90% commentary and 10% Seneca, which I find annoying, sorry.
