Ping! Hi RD, I know your Postie channel has taken a back seat in recent times but I just wanted to thank you. My channel just clocked up 1000 subs, it's been a long hard road but I remember back when I had 10 subs you commented on my videos & subscribed. It meant so much to me, you are an inspiration mate. All the best in your current endeavours.
Welcome back RD. Yep weight is a killer, for me first place to lose weight is my gut... Next video, fuel! I didn't want a long range tank on the frame as I thought it spoiled the look of the bike. I tried carrying 10 litres in a can on the rack but it put too much weight up high & too far back. And took up too much space. Also on longer trips, stopping & filling from cans is a pain, simply switching the fuel tap when underway is so easy. XR tanks are crazy expensive so I fitted a small cheap pit bike tank which holds 5 litres but still allows the ignition switch to be used. For even longer range I carry a 5 litre can at the bottom of a pannier, the weight is low down so doesn't feel so bad. Bring on the vids RD! You built up a great channel, reap the rewards mate!
Thanks 👍 mate glad you you enjoy them. Tanks and fuel are a good video idea. You have a few good tips your self. I all so agree about it ruining the look of the postie bike. But sometimes a necessary evil. 💀👹👺☠️
We carry spare tubes for a quick roadside repair and then patch the old tube at camp that night. Being parked on the side of a crazy busy highway while you tyre to patch a tube is no fun! Screw driver wise, a Leatherman is a fantastic bit of kit too.
Tube/Patch - the same, although I'll replace a patched tube with a new one at the first opportunity. I also replace tires when they're at the still-got-2000km-left mark, and buying new 6plys whenever I find them, 'storing' them on the front wheel for rotating over later. As for overloading-- as a bushwalker I was already set on the right path there. :) Wet Weather Gear - I do without, although I've not traveled through Vic or Tas -- In the NT, it was more comfortable just to be warm-soggy-wet, than to be overheating from non-ventilating gear. There was a dry change of clothes at the end of the day.. And always assume the next two petrol stations are closed...
Good to see ya back mate i had to sell my bike this year i have had 2 eye operations and i am not allowed to ride for a year sad day, but i will get another one one day. I also made a motorcyclecamping box for it too lol. Have a great day Choppersrule1
You being overloaded is an understatement. Ed Pratt traveled the world on a unicycle with very little. Would like to see a breakdown of your daily mileage, average speed, what you do after the sun goes down. Might run into you one day on my new postie here in Brisbane. Had plan to go to Maitland, but that got washed away. Ping.
No offense whatsoever dude, I just care about riders... I can tell why you crashed 100% from the footage and it's not just the weight/power. your bike went exactly where you were looking. You approached too fast, tapped the breaks, but forgot to look where you want the bike to go. If you had turned your head and kept your eyes "around" the corner, your hands and bike would have followed. It's the most common motorcycle crash with a single rider and it's called Failure to negotiate a curve. (Drove an overloaded HondaCub across Asia, made the same mistake but since invested a bunch in Motorcycle driver courses) Otherwise great video. Always been a fan Concider doing some rider safty courses, doesn't matter how long you've been riding you'll always get something.
None taken mate 🙂 It's a fair and accurate comment. but looking where I want to be. speed. tyre pressure. bike load. were all a factor. And I agree you can never too much training. Glad you enjoy the videos 🍻 Thanks for commenting

Sorry to hear that mate. But maybe you can live vicariously through me. And hopefully you're back on the road in a year 😃

Puncture repair is the way to go! If it seals properly when it’s first on, your good to go 👍
