  • The Signal Tower in Little Nightmares 2 is one of the most mysterious areas. In this video I offer some theories, references and things you might have missed in the Signal Tower area.
    Remember, these are just fun theories, I am not presenting them as factual, and the beauty of Little Nightmares is that you can explain it however you like!

    Here’s my personal theory for Monster Six: The Signal Tower requires a Thin Man for it to stay together. This is why the next time you see Six after she’s captured, she’s normal. But it’s only after you kill the current Thin Man that she transforms - she has become the tower’s replacement Thin Man. And when you mess with her by destroying her music box, the tower begins to fall apart. After Six is back to normal, the tower only stabilizes when Mono takes the throne, that’s when the flesh walls hide and are replaced with walls.

      Nice I heard a theory that says that children with certain abilities would replace their predecessors gaining more power and having a rule over their domain. Mono and six are both examples of that since six took over the maw and mono took over the signal tower.

      makes sense. Only thing I'm still wondering, is why Six dropped Mono. Why would she want the signal tower to keep running? She should not have dropped Mono so they could put a stop to the cycle. Get ride of the Signal tower for good. This might be because of some evil taking control of her actions.

The amount of psychology and history in culture, art, location, time and people, is awe inspiring. You made me think of a quote from one of the best shows in my opinion... "One day, you're gonna look around and you're going to realize that everybody loves you, but nobody likes you. And that is the loneliest feeling in the world.” - BoJack Horseman -in reference to your mentioning of RUclips fame- (Sidenote: every time the stairs are shown, am I the only one that wants to watch the Labyrinth?)

    The Baker is a cut-character from Little Nightmares 2, though he does make a brief appearance within the Little Nightmares 2 comics and concept artwork.
    The Baker works within a kitchen/ television studio within the Pale City, allowing for his show to be broadcasted through the use of the Signal Tower’s transmission.
    In the concept artwork, the Baker is an incredibly tall figure, though that is common among most adults. He dresses in a long-sleeved white shirt and teal apron. There is nothing incredibly abnormal about his physical appearance, other than that his head is missing, and instead has five large cables protruding from his throat, implying that he is connected to some sort of unseen device located somewhere within the studio that may play a part in his broadcast/ ability to function. And despite having no head, the Baker seems to function just the same. It is unknown how, though the thought of it is incredibly similar to the patients within the Pale City hospital.
    In the Little Nightmares 2 comics, the Baker is essentially the same as his concept artwork counterpart, with the only significant difference is that the Baker within the comics has a head. He looks incredibly similar to a Viewer, though his face is obscured by a bright light, so it is unknown if he has any defining facial features or not.
    But, if the Baker is able to preform a skill-driven task, such as baking food, without the interference of a television, than that must mean that he is not a regular Pale City citizen, similar to the Teacher, Barber, and Doctor.

    • @Thepenguinnamedpuffin
      @Thepenguinnamedpuffin 3 года назад

      Barber? What barber? The only enemies are the hunter, the students, the teacher, the doctor, the viewers, thin man, and the signal tower.

    • @AlbertusSalvatierra
      @AlbertusSalvatierra 3 года назад +20

      @Salah Mohamed The Barber is another cut enemy.
      We have seen his portrait within one of the corridors of the Pale City school and within the residential quarters of the Governess, meaning the Barber has some sort of relationship with the Governess. This may indicate that he is a rather influential figure within the Pale City. Similar to how both the Teacher and Doctor have their portraits featured in the residential quarters of the Maw and are incredibly impactful within the Pale City.
      The Barber owns his own barber shop which is located somewhere within Pale City. The inside is quite well-kept, which is in complete contrast with the many dilapidated apartment complexes that surround him.
      The Barber seems incredibly sadistic towards children, as he attempts to kill any within sight with his hair-cutting scissors. Though this is common among most adults.

    bruh, tell me why it took this dude saying "If the adults in this world are the nightmares, she is the *little nightmare* " for me to finally understand what this games metaphor truly is...
    It's the perspective of children in the world. I mean, think about it...the adults in this game are trying to do their jobs and Mono/Six keep getting in the way. The adults tried to catch them to save the world, yet they got away. In the kids perspective, the adults (ultimately doing the right thing) are the bad guys. And in the adult's perspective, the kids are *little nightmares* making life harder for everyone.

    • @pleasegoawaydude
      @pleasegoawaydude 3 года назад +9

      It's actually a metaphor for abuse, and children growing into adults who embody what they feared most, reflections of those abusers... If you took this game and decided that the most reasonable message was just "kids are annoying and need to learn their place," then you may have some issues.

    Dude I'm so happy you touched on this possibility of Mono being a TV personality or content creator! I've been posting this theory a lot. The pulsating, organ like beast that chases you I theorized could be a metaphor of him being in the belly of the beast and that all eyes were on him. Therefore hinting that he was the one who a lot of the citizens in the Pale City were watching. Also, the fact that Six was pulled into the TV could be a hint that she was sucked into that TV lifestyle. I personally believe both of these games don't take place in any sort of reality, but are nightmares that reflect some of the darkest parts of each of these characters psyches'. I loved this vid though! Well done!

    Lots of people think the lady is a future version of Six, and we saw a picture of multiple geishas in the maw. Maybe the girl in the rain coat is Six’s sister and might’ve grown to be one of the geishas in the photo. Heck, if we’re going with future versions of characters, the Pretender could even be a future version of the raincoat girl (she does ‘pretend’ to be Six, or at least it tricks the players into thinking she’s Six). Don’t mind me, just thinking.

    • @boomdrops6748
      @boomdrops6748 2 года назад +1

      I beleive the theory that the lady is future six originated from fabric writers.
      They wanted a little drama you know what I mean?
      Six reunites with mono all grown up, I guess it made for some fanfic material.
      Anyways, apparently the lady and six have absolutely nothing to do with each other, according to tarsier.
      By the way, i dont know if you know this but
      back when it was just little nightmares and the dlc,
      there was a theory saying that six was actually the lady's daughter.
      Even though that theory was wrong, there was absolutely no concrete evidence to disprove the theory.
      In fact, there was so much evidence proving the theory that tarsier had to outright disprove the theory themselves.
      I don't know why I mentioned that, it's just an interesting thing to me, so I thought I'd share with you.

    edit: Lol I should have completed the video before writing this, it is almost the same thing
    I think the time inside the signal tower might be different from outside of it and changes to be much longer, I will explain why I think that and please pardon my English.
    so at the beginning of the game Six was hugging the music box and as we all know it makes her feel safe but didn't care about it that much even to the point of giving it up to run from the hunter's house. so why hating Mono after breaking the music box and betraying him the way she did? will, during the game we see her growing to care for Mono ( like telling him to run when she saw the thin man or reaching her hand out to chick on him after they have fallen from the TV ) and even after Mono didn't help her when the thin man kidnapped her, she didn't hate him but instead when they met she started showing him the music box. now the question is: why did Six hate Mono for a music box she didn't care about at the beginning of the game? the answer is " Time ", she spent a very long time in the signal tower alone with only the music box to comfort herself and feel safe. that's why she cared about the music box to the point of throwing Mono in the abyss after everything the lived together. do you think it makes sense?

    I'd like to add something about the impossible triangle. If you look at the videos of LN2 in first person, you'll see that behind every TV, there is an ominous triangle symbol with an eye on it, which might represents the entity or whatever kind of Lovecraftian creature twisted the world into the nightmare that it is, but could also be another reference to the impossible triangle, and so to Oscar Reutersvärd.

  • @kastle3646
    @kastle3646 3 года назад +2

    Here's my personal theory because I just finished the game and I have no one to talk to about it: I think Monster Six and then regular Six's hunger symbolize the result of trauma: children who experience trauma tend to be described as "mature for their age" (explaining her experiencing the hunger that only really seems to affect adults), and both children and adults who experience trauma are known to lash out at people close to them and seek comfort anywhere they can find it, even if it's not the most healthy way to cope (why Monster Six lashes out at Mono and viciously defends the music box). The battle with the Thin Man is Mono's battle with who he was/is becoming as a result of his own traumatic experiences. He starts by running away, being so afraid as to leave his only ally at the mercy of the Thin Man ("driving" Six away due to his own fears of the future and who he might become). Of course Mono eventually is able to face and overcome his fears of what could be and change his perspective, which could be another explanation as to why Mono's powers got stronger after defeating the Thin Man and why the Signal Tower begins to deteriorate (because he "broke the cycle"). In the end, Six is cruel and lashes out possibly because she's hurt that her only ally "left her" or "drove her away", which would feel like abandonment in either case, and then when Mono was ready to reconcile, she wasn't, and he repeatedly pushed her out of her comfort zone (smashing the music box). Six dropped Mono like someone would drop a toxic friend that they'd given 17 chances too many to and were struggling to let go of. He may have changed, but she didn't want to chance it. She became a product of her environment as a necessity in order to survive, which, unfortunately, forced a continuation of the cycle Mono struggled to break.

    I think the bad guys kill mono instead of six because six is the AI and the game would suck if she could die and you have to restart cuz you need her. There are ways six CAN die in the game, like the hunter can shoot six if mono is holding hands or right next to her, then they will both die. Six can only die if mono is dead too because mono is the one we are playing as, not six. Six does get captured by the hunter and the school bullies so it’s not like she’s just being completely ignored

    At 13:06, if you take a very close look to the guts-eyed following six and mono, one of them has a very oddly yet big similarity to the teacher’s face. Maybe the teacher is also a creation from the signal tower. That could explain her ability to stretch and bend her neck so much, she’s another monster 🤷🏻‍♀️.

    • @mosaeed3183
      @mosaeed3183 3 года назад +1

      My theory is that Six is dreaming of a nightmare where all her nightmares have crossed to the physical world and overlapped to create Little Nightmares World. She may not remember them, but they do and they chase her. Maybe Mono was a nightmare among the few she had in which she betrays him, but of course, Six just wakes up IRL and the nightmare ends. But the nightmare remains in her inner mind and Mono turns into the thin man overtime waiting for her to dream of him again. So happened, Six dreamed of that nightmare where all her nightmares came true, Mono unknowingly released the thin man, and now it's his chance to come after her.
      Maybe Six realized that if she rescued Mono, then Mono is the only one who crosses the TV or she doesn't wanna cross the TV with him as she remembered him from her past nightmare, so I think she somehow absorbed his powers to cross the TV and survive! And Mono lost his ability to transport, escape, or even to survive. I noticed that the thin man appeared to be glitched at the beginning of the game as evidence that he can transport but old Mono or (the new thin man) seems to look like a normal human.

    I got a really strange theory.
    I personally think that six only uses mono to get further (or more power). The signal tower is something beyon time and space so it could be from any time. The drawings where six is held captive seem to be read from left to right. It kinda seems like a plan laid out. At the end of it there is the signal tower. The tower has the power to absorb humans, which is the same as the power six obtains from the geisha.
    My theory is that six actually IS the signal tower. She uses monos power to "broadcast" her power to a wider area.
    Lemme know what you think!

    My theory if LN2 is actually a sequel:
    Six keeps trying to pull Mono out of the TV whenever he tries to release the Thin Man. This means Six knows exactly who the Thin Man is and what he represents. If we assume LN2 is a sequel as the developers say, we can deduce that Six is perfectly capable of killing the Hunter, and has travelled to the pale city for a reason. Six is luring Mono to the signal tower by pretending to be helpless. Why? So she can trap Mono there before he realises the Thin Man is him, and is trying to save him from her. Dark Six appeared in the Maw only in her darkest moments, when she was slowly descending into madness, her darker side becoming more and more powerful until it consumes her and she kills The Lady. In LN2, the Thin Man takes Six back to the TV realm, splitting her from her dark self and leaving it with Mono. Dark Six leads Mono to the signal tower while he’s injured, completing the mission of trapping him. Without Dark Six, Six becomes malformed and broken, turning to her music box as her only comfort. In Mono’s attempts to free Six by breaking her music box, she becomes more and more desperate, stopping at nothing to maintain her little corner away from darkness and insanity, and she cannot forgive Mono after he deals the final blow. In the end, we see Six reunited with her Dark Six counterpart, and they are now one. Dark Six acts as a reminder that she will never be whole, her trauma and acts of selfishness and violence are a part of her now, and she will always be alone, she should accept it. She let her only friend in the world fall to his death, after all. Thus she repeats the cycle; there will always be a stopping force who only wants to help her, and always a violent monster who’s really just a scared little kid.

    *(Tericho if you mention this theory can you show my comment? unless someone already has claimed it of course)*
    So, the Little Nightmares community as a whole is sure that the LN world is stuck in a loop, right? And most people are convinced Six is the Sixth person going around this loop, correct? But what about Mono? Mono means "one", and therefore he can't be rebirthed, the developers are hinting there's only one of him. Therefore, doesn't it make the most sense, instead of Mono "killing" the Thin Man near the end of the game, that's the moment he sends himself back in time? (most likely with amnesia). The fight between them may be a fundamental variable of the cycle restarting (the other most important variable being 6 dropping Mono). Therefore, the Thin Man is transported back in time (is now a kid again, therefore Mono), has amnesia, adapts and survives, rediscovers his powers, eventually sees six being captured by the hunter, saves her, runs away with her to ultimately send his older self-back in time who will eventually do the same. This makes the most sense to me, Mono is one, therefore he can't die and be rebirthed, he is all forms at once, the Thin Man and Mono are one.

    The Lovecraft similarities actually go much deeper than that. Allow me to present all the evidence in favor of the eye-mass being an all-powerful entity inspired by lovecraftian horror (part 2 of 2):
    In the trailer for LN2 titled “Nightmares explained with Derren Brown”, Brown says that “Perhaps they (nightmares) are the result of an external, malevolent force...timeless...ageless. Perhaps it is the nightmare itself preying upon you, drawing its strength from your weakness - the nightmares have crossed into the physical world”. The phrasing he uses here seems to imply that some malevolent, immortal, external force has entered our world and turned it into a nightmare, similarly to how a Lovecraftian monster would.
    Finally, we might as well compare the game itself to an actual piece of Lovecraft fiction. Now as I said before, there are countless similarities in terms of themes, story, and actual monsters, but for simplicity’s sake let’s just choose one of my personal favorites - The color out of Space, which Lovecraft wrote back in 1927. There was also a film adaptation starring Nic Cage that was released in 2019, which I would highly recommend watching to get the best vision of this horror. The story follows a farmer and his family as a meteorite lands on their property, which scientists inspecting it cannot determine the origin of. The meteor begins leaking what is described as an extra-spectral color (portrayed in the film version by the color magenta) before being destroyed by lightning. Soon it is revealed that the color inside the meteorite is actually some vicious alien entity that is now loose on the farmer’s property. As the story goes on the entity begins to corrupt and warp reality on the farm; the farmer’s crops grow huge at first but prove to be inedible; the farmer and his family are altered both physically and mentally; and several time-space anomalies occur throughout the story. By the end of the story the entity begins killing each member of the farmer’s family, either directly or by turning them into mutated monsters. After killing the farmer himself the entity blasts back off into space, leaving the area around the farm a colorless wasteland.
    After comparing these two things, I can’t help but wonder...what exactly is the eye-mass’s goal? As far as I can tell, it seems to want to either kill humanity completely or turn its worst inhabitants into mindless slaves. As some have suggested, we can assume that other characters like the janitor, teacher, etc were all lured into the signal tower’s presence and mutated in similar fashion to how Six was at the end of the game. I agree with this point, but allow me to also add onto it by suggesting that perhaps the mass chooses people for mutation based on their innermost desires. As Derren Brown says in the Nightmares Explained trailer, “Or perhaps dreams are, as Freud believed, a communication of our will, our desires”. When you look at each antagonist you can sort of see what I’m talking about - the lady wanted to remain young and beautiful. The craftsman and doctor probably wanted to continue practicing their “arts” forever. The guests wanted to stuff themselves to bursting point. The viewers wanted to continue watching TV as long as possible. The Pretender wanted endless material possessions. The teacher wanted authority. And so on. And then Six...well, Six likely wanted to return to the peaceful life she had before she met Mono and embarked on this crazy adventure towards the signal tower, hence why she can be seen playing the same music box she had at the beginning of the game. But here’s the final nail in the coffin - the second comic for the original game literally revolves around this exact same concept. Think about it - the entire comic literally revolves around a group of children who are nearly captured by a monster after seeing their desires shown to them through mirrors - desires which then manifest in the real world by altering the children’s bodies. Furthermore, I would say that this comic also explains the existence of the Mirror Monster, North Wind and even the Thinman - they are likely creations or servants of the eye-mass that are tasked with hunting down and capturing children who have a desire and are therefore prime candidates for mutation. However as the comic and the games suggest, these desires aren’t all they are cracked up to be once the eye-mass fulfills them, as many of the monsters I mentioned above are killed by Mono and Six or are put through some other form of torment. It would also explain why the Ferryman is collecting the children from the comics and bringing them to the Maw - they are the children who SHOULD have been taken, but literally fought the odds and lived to tell the tale.
    With this in mind, let me propose another theory: Shadow Six is another one of these special-child-hunting monsters, just slightly different. Think of it like this: we know the eye-mass has some plan involving Six and the Maw before Mono ruined it (and for that the mass turned Mono into the Thinman as punishment), but what was that plan? In my opinion it likely had to do with putting an end to the Lady and the Maw, since she and other monsters had essentially been using it as a means of hiding below the ocean, isolated from the eye’s influence. Of course the eye can’t have that, so what does it do? It creates Shadow Six and tasks her with the same thing as the other special-child-hunting monsters - luring Six into finding her true desire, greed. As Six progresses through the Maw, Shadow Six appears and subtly encourages her to fill her desire through consumption, each time making her get prey that’s bigger and more lively. By the end of it Six has proven her desire by eating the Lady, allowing Shadow Six to possess her in full force and unleash her powers, turning Six into the monster the eye had always intended her to be. After that her fate is unknown.
    (Quick side note - I’ve seen some people suggest that the eye-mass might be an amalgamation of all the viewers that have committed suicide. Honestly I don’t think this is true, as we see that every eye that’s part of the mass has the same colored pupil, implying they are all part of the same entity. I do think the mass is trying to get people killed, but more for the purpose of eradicating humanity as opposed to assimilating their bodies).
    So in conclusion, I think that the eye-mass seen in the signal tower is the true source of all the terrible things in the world of Little Nightmares. It is an otherworldly, lovecraftian monster with powers over every aspect of our reality, including time and space. It resides within the signal tower which it constructed itself, and it’s goal seems to be to either eradicate humanity or twist it’s worst inhabitants into its own personal monsters. To accomplish this it seeks out those with the strongest and most selfish desires and manipulates them until it can send it’s special minions to “collect” them and bring them to the signal tower, so the mass can then “fulfill” their desires by transforming them into the monsters they really are.
    Bonus theory: The reason we see so many clothes discarded throughout the Pale City is because at least some of the children we see in the series are really adults who were shrunken down by the eye into children, leaving their adult-sized clothing behind. However aside from the Nintendo Switch trailer for the original game where we see a similar transformation, I can’t really find any more proof for this theory, so take it with a grain of salt.

Kinda like how toxic stan culture is today. Maybe the signal tower corrupted Six and gave her the shadow form because I don't think we see that in Little Nightmares 2, she found out about the loop and the signal tower forced her to drop Mono so the viewers could watch Mono forever and the signal would go on and therefore, the loop.

    This theory gave me and idea for a Granny theory. I know Tericho already spoke about it a bit but I think with a little twist, it could make even more sense. So: Lady is uncontrollably hungry and she knows it's only a matter of time before she consumes her own daughter as well so she sends her to the Nest (gives her a raincoat for the way maybe, so she doesn't get sick - that's why she's the only child we ever see to have a decent piece of clothing right from the start (except mono, although his clothes and cloak seem a bit dirty too), not ugly, dirty torn clothes like Six does in VLN for example), it's because her mom is THE LADY and she could afford to give her daughter clean clothes.
    Girl in the yellow raincoat is then held captive in the nest, not allowed to escape so the Lady can be sure her daughter is safe from her.
    When the Pretender and girl in the yellow raincoat fall in the water, the Pretender manages to touch her and casts magic spell on her, except something goes wrong. As they are both drowning, the spell doesn't go as planned, maybe because there was not enough time to cast it properly and it gets interrupted mid-way by the fall in the water, so the girl in the yellow raincoat doesn't dissappear completely, but instead, becomes Granny. Not remembering who she was, her identity completely dissappearing, but body staying and forming into its monstrous looks as all the Granny cares about now is to eat anything and anyone. Lady finds out about this news and is devastated, but cannot help it and still thinks of Granny as if she was her daughter, perhaps even hoping that with time, her daughters consciousness could return to the body and so she orders her people to board Granny onto the Maw, keeping her alive in the depths, feeding her.

    5:45 From what I have read about that incident, the captors never actually hurt their hostages. Yes, they scared them but did not hurt them in any way. After the incident was resolved, one of the hostages (a woman) defended the captors saying that they had no intention of hurting them & never hurt them. (She said other things, too. I just don't remember them.) But a psychologist (or psychiatrist?) did not believe a single word she said and claimed that she was messed up in the head & had "fallen in love" with her captor. He then called her "condition" the Stockholm Syndrome we know today. (It was called a different thing actually. Again, I just don't remember it.) She was obviously furious about all this. She hated the doctor. People even started hating on her for whatever the doctor claimed.

    This is my first theory that popped out of my head at 12 am
    I’m going to go from the theory that six is the lady and how you said six is older than she looks being affected from the tower.
    This could explain the reason why the lady looks so old in the mirror because it reflects how six is really suppose to look (not being affected by the tower and all). We know that time is broken in the game and some objects in the game look normal as it should, maybe the mirrors aren’t affected to change so it keeps it’s natural form of the person that looks into it. The lady we see from our eyes is the six that kept her youthful looks after escaping the tower, but the lady we see in the mirror is the real time and real fate she was suppose to see.
    I don’t know if my theory can change perspective of other theories. I had more thoughts to this theory last night BUT I CANT REMEMBER MOST OF IT GAHHHHH, so this theory isn’t as complete as I originally thought. I’m open to anyone who would like to add anything :) I’ve been watching so much Tericho little nightmare theories I think I’m obsessed.

It might explain the size difference between the children and thier surroundings, not only is it obviously hostile and uncomfortable but its also obvious that they won't naturally grow into it either. We see mono grow into a tall man and six reached that size in the tower but both only occured through trauma.

    They supposed to resemble eyes. And look at the outline of the tower building itself.
    Now tell me I'm not the only person that suppose to represent Mono but in a more subtle way as a taller individual?
    Talk about Foreshadowing. XD ^^

    The Hunter also indirectly goes after Six as well, as he can shoot both of them. But then again... It's a gun with a wide spread.

    If you take these games and look at them from a psychology and metaphorical sense, they are probably some of the best and deepest games ever made for that sort of mind wrenching aspect! The developers deserve many awards because no other game has got me thinking like these have.

    My theory: The tv's are eyes. When mono sat at the chair in the end and the eyes closed in on him, they formed a room or world which is why the people are drawn to them.
    At the part after six got captured, mono went into the tv and you could see for a brief moment that he was surrounded by the eyes but ended up far away from the signal tower. (Could it be that he is surrounded by eyes already?)
    It could be that monos entire world is the eye monster or the tv's/eyes spread out to a certain lenght.
    At the start of the game mono jumped out of the tv because he was and is still inside the signal tower/monster at the end. But I think he has forgotten what has and will happen.

    I think six is the lady because she is the only one that consumes her power and because of this in Little Nightmares 2 the part were six drops mono. The reason she held him for so long was to gain some of the powers of mono so she can travel through the tv but then the have an impact on six because there not for her and this cause the hunger part of six from the first game.
    Just a theory

    I know that you've discussed Japanese and Swedish culture, but Little Nightmares brings me back to the Greeks insofar as the tragedy aspect. Mono and Six were always destined to become like the twisted dark adults around them; their childhood innocence was bound to be stripped away. So there was really no escaping or overcoming their perilous world. I think even the developers hinted with the title that these characters were not really the good guys, not for long anyway.
