    This trip we saw a lot of wildlife. The pronghorns, snakes, lizards, owls and now a bunch of mule deer. It was like being on a safari! You can tell these are mule deer by the large ears, like that of a donkey and the black tipped tail. Too bad we did not film them pronking! But they did run a bit. We spotted two different small herds. One of them had a male, just starting to grow his antlers!

    The groups of mule deer thin out as fawning season arrives in June and July. This was in late May, so that is why we see only groups of three or 5. We had to cross the Walker river, which was running high, which was a semi adventure for us! No petroglyphs but plenty of wildlife!
