      @@murfdog19 it's my understanding according the band the current obstacle is lack of management or major record label representation with deep enough pockets to cover studio time or something. Basically their material is ready, it rocks, and the right person needs to pull their head out their ass and book the studio time and get the touring deal. That's my understanding. Fingers crossed

    • @MetalMcfly
      @MetalMcfly Год назад +14

      @@Whisky_4_1 That is definitely not the issue. Jason Newsted's net worth is 60 million dollars. He has a studio built into his mansion and has had it for many many years. He continues to receive royalties worth hundreds of thousands per year for the albums he contributed to in Metallica. Jason can fund his own project with no problems as money is not the issue. He has so many contacts in the music industry that securing a solid management company to handle booking, touring, album pressings , production shouldn't be a problem either. There is however another issue and none of us are in "the know". I'm leaning more towards commitment. I don't think he's committed enough to want to tour an album and with 60 million dollars, why should he be? He's been there, done that.

    • @Whisky_4_1
      @Whisky_4_1 Год назад +5

      @@MetalMcfly fair point, but i do recall 10 years ago Jason mentioned he did not want to, and I'm paraphrasing, hemorrhage cash in order to just tour and support his project. I used to headbang hard at every show I went to for over 20 years, but when I hit my 40s, I had to stop. I never injured myself, but I’ve had back issues and I knew it was only a matter of time if I didn’t pull back and acknowledge that I’m not 25 anymore.
    I just didn’t want to go through what guys like Newsted, Anselmo, Araya, Mustaine, Hetfield, etc went through with surgeries, pinched nerves, stenosis. I miss it but it’s not worth the risk.
    It seems like the older guys who can still bang (Angus Young, Kerry King, Scott Ian) are all short. Lower center of gravity?

      Yeah, but Injuries happen, we recover - minimize the risk (by being in good shape, strength, cardio). 40s are fine, nothing like 20s, but what to do - Hetfield/Rob are pretty active on stage at 60. One leg squats, jumping, playing on knees, etc... Not bad. I would say all is worth it, not place for the fear, just little bit more careful :)

      I'm in pretty good shape...I'm just saying that headbanging is a dangerous activity as you get older. It's really not good for you at any age, but goddamn is it fun.
      Hetfield stopped headbanging in the '90s and he still needed surgery...he does it a little here and there nowadays but it's controlled...he's not whipping his head around like it's 1989.

      He can play the songs, but he can’t headbang nonstop with a heavy bass strapped to his shoulder for 2-1/2 hours.
      He had injuries from the headbanging that he had to have surgery for and let heal. You can see how he can “nod” a bit but the days of throwing his head back and forth with abandon are over. That’s what he meant mostly.
