I would also add your deck to the first section. For me it is really immersive. The symbolism of the forest gives it such a magical and cozy feel. Thank you!🌲✨
That is so wonderful, thank you so much for sending people my way. I think it shuffles beautifully and it's a joy to work with. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
A numerological approach is also one of my delights. And beautiful people is indeed a deterrent (though not a deal breaker). I love this tag, it's so interesting. Thanks for sharing 💕
New to your channel and already a fan!! 😊 This video was really interesting and informative! Picking decks has always been by the energy I feel from them and so I haven't really ever considered all the other points you have discussed. I am also feeling excited and inspired by seeing many decks I have never seen before that you highlighted. Thank you so much for sharing! 🙏💖
Juli really nailed it with this tag - it's so fun!! And never too late to do a tag (IMO). :D This was a LOT of fun to watch and I'm HERE for your face-on content so I love these chit-chatty vids you do. :) I gotta admit, I have a soft spot in my heart for some of the chunkier older style collage work.... and have at least one of those in my collection!
Isn't this an amazing tag? I've been enjoying following this tag and seeing everyone's thoughts. I am working on getting a better setup for face-on videos so hopefully be more next year (and maybe a live or two!) 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Thank you so much for doing a VR! I really enjoyed hearing your explanations and seeing examples. YES to seeing more mature queens and kings. I think a lot of us have at least a couple decks containing aspects we'd normally view as a deterrent. Tarot and oracle can have that way with us sometimes! 😆It's also so true that so many of us are singing the same tune about what delights and deters us. Hopefully more publishers and indie deck creators will take our views into consideration! 💜
I hope they start paying attention and tags like this will certainly help! This has been such a fun one to follow and it was a fantastic idea! Thank you so much for starting it for us. It's a fun tag but I think also an important conversation. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
I enjoyed watching your take on this theme. If you haven't heard or seen this one before The Artists Inner Vision tarot is an interesting collage deck by NoMonet. You either love or hate it but i thought it had quite a refreshing take on tarot. I don't see it shown that often. Also agree with you on preferring a more mature queen and king energy.
I haven't seen that one, I'll have to go check it out! Those kings and queens, hopefully someday that becomes the standard. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Such a fun video.❣ me personally, I learned to read using the RWS system, so I prefer that. I also have a habit of using decks that lend themselves to the more gothic or dark styles/themes like the Dark Wood Tarot or the Edgar Allan Poe Tarot. I actually have an aversion to what I call the "pretty" decks that are extremely colorful or that have a lot going on in the artwork. Pip decks are also something I've learned to read with pretty well.
I really struggle with the beautiful people decks. I love the color pallet of the Star Child, but I cannot get behind that deck partially for that reason.
It took me a long time to make the purchase because of that. I am still not a fan of the all the beautiful in it, but it's a great reader for me. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
This was so interesting and I agree with a lot of the same of your delights and deterrents. I would really like to do this VR too at some point! Thanks for sharing 😊 Xx
Does it sound weird to have a deterrent that is also oddly satisfying? Super glossy decks that slip everywhere, when the cards just do their thing while shuffling, I don't know if I am annoyed or amused! Bigger and thicker decks are also a put off because I also battle to shuffle them. Llewellyn card stock for the win! I love whimsy decks like the Paulina tarot and I am not the biggest fan of computer generated art but I also make allowances. I literally just purchased my first collage deck - The Uncommon Tarot. This was an awesome video!
I’ve enjoyed following this tag and seeing different people‘s likes and dislikes. I've concluded that for me, it comes down to how well a deck is crafted. I don’t mind gilding if it’s good quality gilding and easy to the touch, I love a good collage deck as long as it’s done tastefully and the images are well integrated. Pre-existing art is a tough one, and so far, the Lonely Dreamer is the only one I've been happy with. In my opinion, the creator did a fantastic job! Honestly, the significant deterrent for me is size and cardstock. I want to use my decks and not just collect them. I want a deck that I can hold in my hands and shuffle. That's not too much to ask, is it? 😉
Agree with you about the old school collage decks. I was thinking of doing one just as one deck personal to me as a form of reflection exercise but I have not bought one yet. Wait... you have children in your 20s!? 😳 I thought you were 30-ish!
Hehe nope, I'm in my 40s and my oldest is early 20s. I think a personal collage deck is a fantastic idea! If done a few and it's so much fun. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Card stock is big for me; I don't shuffle well, so that doesn't matter but I don't like cheap stock (hate Llewellyn; but I tolerate Cheimonette's stock). Lately I've liked the linen flexible cards. I don't often like curated though I love The Lonely Dreamer--has to be well done. I like really good art (The Intuitive Tarot, my fav) and quirky (Deviant Moon, Dreamkeeper) but hate Disney style art ripoffs like Dark Wood and Night Before Christmas. Thanks for the video!
I have the Klimt tarot, and it is am example of a deck that is beautiful but just can't fit into the tarot system. It's been fun to hear other opinions! 💜
I don't have that one yet, but that's good to know because the artwork is stunning. I agree, it's so fun to hear everyone's thoughts. I just love these kinds of tags. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Overly minimalistic, contemporary, abstract art decks some times are difficult for me to read with. Also super dark, gothic decks where there is a dark energy I generally don't buy, including halloween decks.
I don't generally do the super dark and gothic either. Abstract can be difficult for sure, I generally have to study those to be able to make something useful out of them lol. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
The Tyldwick gilding is amazing, it doesn't bother me at all and I love it. I don't know what they used on it, but it's fantastic! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
I dont like glossy finish. It slips and slides at the wrong times and sticks at the times. I also dont like thick decks/card stock. It becomes hard to shuffle.
For decks with a lot of symbolism, I like Tarot of the Holy Light, Tarot of the Spirit or Tabula Mundi. also any Robert M. Place decks. Hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
That illustrative section you weren’t sure about, I’d call that stylised illustrative styles. If that makes sense. None of them are lifelike and are quite stylised, some more than others.
I had to laugh. You didn't mention the deterrents among your delights that made you not want to leave the cards alone; that deterred you enough to make you want to modify them. Are there any decks that delighted you enough as is, to not make any changes to them?
Lol tons actually which is probably why I didn't think to mention it. The majority of my collection is not modified, but the decks I have left as is include most of my indie decks, all but I think one of my oop decks and a handful of my older mass market decks. I actually discussed on my chat with the Three Fat Readers how I actually have decks in my collection that I won't modifying because they feel just right as is. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
I am with you on not liking the beautiful people decks. For me if it's painted I like it. Eg. Lightseers Tarot but o of its photography like Chakra Wisdom Tarot is not for me. I mostly like gilding but I've not had the experience of it hurting my hands.
I love all your choices! Those decks are lovely! I did giggle when you talked about collage decks. One of my oldest and most loved decks is the Voyager deck. Old school collage....possibly one of the first collage decks. I'm getting very irritated with mass market publishers slapping tacky gold gilding on every new deck beginning produced. Regardless of whether it's artistically appropriate or not. Add that to the overly lavish boxes and usually lacking guidebooks...oh, they are pretty, but rarely offer any insight. The only cardstock that I dislike is the thick cardboard (Spolia and Brady, I'm looking at you) and that suede like finish that my fingers have no grip on. Those decks are a pain to use. I'm not a fan of Barbie and Ken decks, erotic/he man-booby women decks, horror, big sad eyed kids, unicorns, Disney art (I bought the Tarot of the Divine and HATE it....and plastic like cardstock....ugh) pastel decks, decks in which everyone is a teenager, teenage witch goes to witchy school decks (or anything else Harry Potter like)....well, I'll stop there! Thank goodness there is so much variety! Have a great day!
I'm right there with you! Sometimes I think publishers put too much thought into the packaging and not enough into the actual product. Sigh. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
My delight are decks with rich layered visual symbolism because that fits the way I read. So a deterrent for me is an “art” deck, a pip deck, or an overly minimalistic art style.
Love your room setup. 💖🌸
Thank you so much! It's my favorite place to be. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Thanks, as always, for your kind words about my deck! I always point people to you when they are worried about thin cards.
It has been a great one! It's so interesting to see how similar we all are in some areas. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
I agree with you about the young kings and queens.
That annoys the crap out of me lol. 🙂
Love that Solara occulto. Stunning! Haven’t seen it before.
It's a fantastic deck, one of my favorites. So unique! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
New to your channel and already a fan!! 😊

Yes. This tag was so fun to respond to and so fun to watch other's responses. Enjoyed yours of course. :)
It was such a great one, I hope we see more of them! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I do not like guilding either...I sand it off!!! As always, love your views on tarot! xo
I'm probably going to trim it off just to get rid of it. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I totally agree with most of the things you mentioned. For me, the worst deterrent is when I struggle to shuffle the deck.
I think for me, that's the worst. If I can't shuffle it then I just don't want to work with it. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

Pip decks are fun, I really enjoy working with those as well. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Witches tarot are my favourite now
I enjoy a good witchy deck as well! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Totally agree with you, there are a lot more similarities than differences in the dislikes sections of these.
Maybe that will give the publishers some food for thought! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Spoila tarot is hands down best modern collage deck I’ve seen
I've only ever seen pictures of it, never been able to actually hold it my hands yet. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I think cardstock is important, I gotta be able to actually use a deck to make a connection to it. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Oh and please tell me your secrets about riffle shuffling standard sized tarot cards. I can’t get my hands around them at all. 😂
No real secret, just really stretching the hands and lots and lots of practice hehe. 🙂
❤🧡❤

Just wondering...does the gilding on Tyldwick bother you? I found that deck to be a champion shuffle.
I agree with you... the Tyldwick is the exemption to the rule. It shuffles like a dream. But most gilded decks feel nothing like it.
It becomes hard to shuffle.
thank so much. If talk about "symbolic in tarot deck" , which deck you will recommend >^^
For decks with a lot of symbolism, I like Tarot of the Holy Light, Tarot of the Spirit or Tabula Mundi. also any Robert M. Place decks. Hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Thanks
That illustrative section you weren’t sure about, I’d call that stylised illustrative styles. If that makes sense. None of them are lifelike and are quite stylised, some more than others.
That's a good description! I never know what to really call that style. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
Yes stop with the gilding, sometimes the gilding doesn’t match with the deck aesthetic at all.
I agree, sometimes I wonder what they were thinking! Sometimes it doesn't match at all! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I mostly like gilding but I've not had the experience of it hurting my hands.
I would agree, painted is a bit better (although I didn't connect with the Light Seer's at all.) 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I struggle with some art decks too, sometime I just can't make the connection to the tarot association.

Can’t with the young kings and queens! Gawd! Can we see some mature men and women, please?
Yes please! I second that all day log!
🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
