There is no mention of a literal 1000 year period in the old testament. Kind of weird isnt it? Perhaps John was using a metaphor?

There’s no mention anywhere in the New Testament of 1000 years except in Revelation. No other apostle taught about it. In fact all the other writings show no more time after the resurrection. So1000 years is a metaphor for the Church Age. Everything ends on The Day of the LORD. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 & 2 Peter 3:10-13)

Then are you in denial of men living eight or nine hundred years? Are you silly enough to suggest that their ages are only metaphors? Why not rather say that the short life of a man is only a metaphor? And perhaps we live in a matrix, and nothing is real? Why must one thousand years be untrue? Where were YOU when God decided everything? Did YOU advise God? Tell us about that.

@@tomgregory687 The millennium is a metaphor for the Church age. What dumb theologians suggests that? The Church really is a failure if we can't do better than this without any of the devil's deception! And then of what age does the Apostle warn us that the devil goes about as a roaring lion? It must not be the Church age!

@@JosephBoxmeyer When I say John was using a metaphor I wan't saying that the supernatural or things like the patriarch's lifespans weren't real. What I mean is that John was using certain hebrew words that conveyed a meaning beyond a hyper-literal interpretation. I mean do you think there is a giant dragon going to come out of the sea with a giant woman riding it drinking blood? Or locust with women's hair coming from hell? No this is Jewish symbolism/poetry that is actually referring to something real and supernatural but not a hyper-literal interpretation. The same thing occurs with the millenial kingdom.
Our problem with our current intrepretation is thinking John recieved this message in greek and not the language of his people, hebrew. In Hebrew, the word for 1000 (ELEPH) originally meant a company of men under 1 leader, or a troop/clan/family. The word evolved over time to mean a literal 1000, but thats not how its being used in revelation. The millential kingdom or the 1000 years of satan being bound is referring to the "Times of Restoration of the Tribes of Israel". When you read '1000 years', the hebrew interpreation would be translated as "Tribes Times". "Year" in hebrew can mean age or a division of time, and "1000" can mean tribes/clan. So the millential kingdom is the "Times of the Tribes". The time when all things would be fuflilled, the end of the age would come, and the redemption of Israel and thus the whole world back to God through Christ Jesus. I also finding it interesting that the davidic dynasty was restored 1000 years after david lived. I don't think its mere coincidence, that Jesus came exactly 1000 years after David established the messianic Dynasty that was restored and fulfilled by Jesus.

@@JosephBoxmeyer I'm not adivising God on anything. What I am saying and many others is that, our understanding of eschatology is based on traditions that men created during the English Reformation. Before that eschatology was not a big aspect of Christianity. It was only until the Catholic and Prostenant feuds that escahtology became part of christian doctrine that one must hold in order to be 'christian'.
I'm sorry but if you go into history and look for the origins of dispensationalism you will see satan's hand at work. Our interpretations are based on tradition and not truth, just like in the days of Jesus where the relgious leaders added and mis-interpreted the scripture to serve their political agendas, the same thing has happened now in our time. God is cleaning up all these false doctrines regarding prophecy. Jesus did exactly what he said he would do.
      Luke 24:44
Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that *everything* written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

Things would happen "shortly" because most of it is a symbolic prophecy of the events of the sacking of Jerusalem in AD 70. Obviously, it's about more beyond that, but that is the context that made it immediately relevant to the audience to whom it was written.

The book of Revelation is simbolic.
A Thousant years is also simbolic.
Jesus is reigning now, in the hearts of the believers.
Jesus reighs in the hystory too, in His Soveright.
And He will Come back again to reigh over the humanity on the Last Day.
After the Last Day, He will reigh forever with His Church, on Heaven.
    ... in few words !
    God bless everyone !

Thousand years is representative of an indeterminent span of time that Christ will fulfill the Great Commission. The emphasis should be on the fulfillment of the work of Christ on the cross, not on the antichrist, not on the demise of the world.

One thousand years separates the defeat of Satan from the defeat of the enemies of Christ (harlot, beast, false prophet), all who are empowered by Satan. The reign of martyred souls also happens during this thousand years.

Hey, people, let's not be silly. Do we say that the Reformed concept of faith and of graciously imputed righteousness are wrong because they had not previously been the predominant doctrines popular in the church? It doesn't matter what had been popularly taught. The R.C. church had been wrong. And so the Church had been ignorant on eschatology. Easy to accept when they couldn't get the Gospel right. Let's drop all of the nonsense about what the Church believed and when. We have the Bible. That reasoning was good for the Reformation, so why not now.

It doesn’t say anywhere in the Bible 144,000 will be saved. That is a false doctrine. The 144,000 are 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Judah.

Thousand in Hebrew doesn't mean a literal 1000, it means a company of men or tribes headed by one leader. It was used to describe a military unit before it was used literal. Scholars are still debating what the word actually means, and admit that the word has evolved over time.
It's clear from scripture 1000 has a range of meaning, some of which is symbolic. John didn't receive a vision from God in Greek, Hebrew is the language God uses to convey messages to his Jewish prophets. Therfore we must understand revelation in a hebraic manner not greek.
