  • The 2025-2026 NCAA Swimming and Diving season is right around the corner, so why not take this opportunity to bring up a topic that sparks a LOT of arguments in swimming circles online: Are NCAA Records WORLD RECORDS?
The answer is technically NO, but why not? Should they be? And should NCAA swimming look into changing its format?

As an EU citizen who doesnt fully understand the yard system, i think switching to meters would make the NCAA a lot more appealing to watch and stay updated about.
This might actually bring some money in cuz if there are WR on the line, more people from abroad will watch.

I think it is way past time for we gringos/yankees to get with the metric program. We should get with the rest of the world. Yes, "old" records may be forgotten, and yes some pools would need to remodel, but it will come eventually, whether we like it or not.

A record should be a record because not everyone has access to Olympic sized pools.

  • @matthiaskritzinger5509

Doesnt the UK also have yards pools?

Its a world record if someone in any country in a 25 yard pool under correct regulations can break it

no one cares about yards, its the school size pool in US/Canada but no one really cares about it. any normal pool is meters.
