Thanks for this video, there isn't a lot on this system online! Have you run into any pump issues or do you have any advice for cleaning the pump? I have some roots that have found their way into mine!
I know your post is 7 months old, but I wanted to know if you have any idea what ingredients are in the plant food? I did Google and found nothing as well as looked on their website. There is nothing written in the instructions or anywhere else.
Appreciate your instructions as the instructions that came with mine gave no instructions in how to prepare the nutients. My unit is the same brand but slightly different power panel. My question is how do I make the filter run more than a few minutes. Should it be running all the time, if so how can I make it do it? When I set it to go it only goes for a very short time and shuts off. The light goes on and off every 12 hours.
Thanks for the video. I'm setting mine up today and got stuck at the nutrient instructions in the manual so, I came to YT for help. You said "each one (nutrient A and B) is going to be mixed with 1 liter of plain water." Did you mean, 5ml of A in 1liter of water and then, 5ml of B in another 1liter of water (making 2 liters in all). Or both A and B mixed in 1 liter of water? It seems that the unit has a 2 liter water bowl so, if it's the latter, I'd have to do that twice (mix A and B in 1 liter of water). Like I said, I didn't quite get the instructions. Thanks for your help. Annette
A and B should always be added in equal amounts. They are separated because they will bind together if not heavily diluted or stay stagnant too long after mixing. You'll typically want 5ml of each A&B per liter. After your plants are established they could want a higher concentration though. It's also a good idea to add a bit of cal/mag and rhizo to your water for proper nutrient uptake and root health. Both can be found on Amazon for pretty cheap. Rhizo in equal amounts to A&B and cal/mag at half the concentration of the other nutrients.
@@sexytopramen Thanks Lucas. That explains a few things. I'll check out Rhizo too. All the best. P.S. I am growing lettuce and, Maxi Grow has been doing a really nice job when my A and B ran out so, that's a relief. It's a lot cheaper:)

Hello, nice video. I am just starting to look at these units. I noticed that compared to many other similar units, the tank is much shallower -- looks like abouth 2/3 or half the depth of other units, and lower volume (3 liter vs 5-6 liter). Does that seem to make any difference? I mean, have you ever felt like it would have been helpful to have deeper water depth -- I don't know, maybe to accommodate more roots or allow you to go longer between fills? Thanks!
I've got one that holds about 6L, I only filled it up to 5L. It's been running for 4 weeks now and it's at about 3.5L. I think a 3L system won't be an inconvenience for water fills, but yes the roots would be limited. My roots are growing very long and strong, taking up allot of room.
I have the MUFGA, model # SP01L1. I can't get the top to raise. How does it work? I've tried lifting it but it seems stuck. It's a birthday gift and I don't want to break it.
I worried about the same thing- hold one hand at the base where the extendable bar is and use your other hand to raise up the lid - directly up. Don’t twist or go off to the side- that might break it. It’s clunky but try that and it should release just fine :)
Thank you for the video. It's a help. I just purchased that same system. How do you keep mold from growing and how do you clean the inside when you can't remove the top base that has the center pole with lights attached to it? Would appreciate ideas and tips on how to do this.
Nothing in the included instructions or any video did I see anything about the pump. I'm helping my elderly landlord set hers up. I sure hope we did it right.
Hello, can you tell me how many seeds you put into each individual pod? Also, when you say soak overnight does that mean i take all the different seeds i plan to plant and put them in a bowl with water or each has to go in its own? Also, is it stupid to grow 8 different things?
I put 2 seeds in each pod just in case one doesn't germinate. FOr soaking overnight you want to separate out the types of seeds into different containers so each type of seed has its own bowl. I grew several different things in ours. I don't see any reason why you can't grow 8 different things.
Thank you so much for your response!!! I am sad that I wasted seeds soaking a small pile as they are so small. I have decided that I will grow 4 veg, 3 pods of each. I will use three in a column from left to right. I picked radish, carrot, sugar pea, lettuce. The seed packs suggest growing things with similar maturing times. HERE GOES NOTHING.
Thanks for the video! A couple of questions: (1) When you put the seeds in the sponge, do you set them at the top of the hole/pit in the center or do you need to press the seeds down into the sponge material? (2) I saw elsewhere someone recommending that you not add fertilizer until the seeds germinate, was wondering if you had thoughts on timing of fertilizer?
I put my seeds in at the depth listed on the package of seeds. Seeds only need something once they germinate, but if you wait and add it (usually only about a week for most seeds), you will only have the correct ratio if you pour out all of the water that you started the seeds in. To me, it's easier to start with fertilizer water.
@@DaysWellSpent Suppose the seed package says 1/4" deep. There's the surface of the sponge and then the hole in the middle is a bit lower than the surface -- let's say the surface of the hole in the middle is 1/4" lower than the surface of the sponge. Do you press the seed 1/4" further PAST the surface of the hole in the middle or do you place it on the surface of the hole in the middle? Sorry...I know it's kind of confusing, which is why I'm referring to the different surfaces.
