    After doing everything, i found my solution. The cmos battery wire is the problem. Glad i tried changing the wire. I was about to solder new bios chip!

    I just bought hp pavilion 15 yesterday and the screen went black after showing cmos bios 502 error then i hold the power button for 15 sec and it started working normally. Should i replace it or contact hp centre or keep this laptop please suggest i only have 6days to take any action

      Sorry for late reply, I just see your comment. Definitely you need to change the laptop. Actually inside the small CMOS battery is dead. That's why you get this error.

    New HP notebook I received the message hp cmos checksum error 502. I know that when it was bought they entered the Bios. After the message appeared, it took me to the installation of win10. What I do?
    Continuous installation windows10? I forcibly turn off and enter Bios? Do I return the Notebook to the store?

    So my laptop battery doesn't charge it only works with power cable on is this due to CMOS battery aswell? Or battery is faulty?

      You need to change CMOS battery. it's can give 2years backup. and yeah you can run your laptop without battery. no issue. Thank you.

    Question: I cannot turn on my laptop just by pressing the
    power button, even when the laptop battery has charge.
    Always have to plug in the external power then turn on.
    After that i can remove the plug in and it works fine.
    I have already updated the BIOS. Also my laptop battery is
    new.
    But everytime i try to switch on this happens and shows me
    CMOS Checksum invalid.
    What do i do?

      then maybe your battery have some defect or it has to do something with the point where your laptop connect with battery and those are called "terminals"

    This error has made my HP laptop display not work anymore what exactly should I do nobody knows how to fix it even service repair said it’s unrepairable despite no physical damages to the screen motherboard , Ram , cmos battery all that it’s very puzzling as to why the HP logo refuses to display a picture if you have any ideas let me know

      If the CMOS battery is fine then maybe It comes from a BIOS error. Please install the HP support assistant and update BIOS according to your model. or write your problem to this app help center, definitely they help you. Thank you.

      @@SumansWorld I should also note there was 3 long beeps and 2 short caps lock beeps on my keyboard but it is inconsistent it did it Saturday (3/4/23) when it initially statures and it started not too long ago 3/9/23 when it was charging maybe it blinks on my keyboard when it is charging and not when the battery is full? Not entirely sure but I wanted to point out how inconsistent that the caps lock blinking is

      It is the bios that is the issue, search online how to update or fix ur BIOS and it will work. Lol i hope after a year you have gotten it fixed tho@@thenamelessdemigod

    actually i bought new hp pavilion ec0035 au model with ryzen processor on 13th Nov, I used it for one hour, charged the battery. And due to some reason I had to leave the city and left system at home, Didn't use it for 2 months. When i started the system after 2 months it was not having any charge, so i charged it for an hour and press power button and i received this error. It restarted after few seconds and window started and i realized that time is showing same, 13th Nov and it took a lot of time to update the correct time. Do u also need to change this battery. Mine is unused laptop, what to do?

      yes you have to change cell because after 2 months this cell has completely lost its charge

    I already tried doing this because my PC recently stopped booing on, and I somehow figured out to boot it on and it was giving me that same cmos checksum was invalid but the next day after I shut it down, it wouldn’t start and I even though I already had some batteries that was also three voltage still my computer wouldn’t boot up

      Actually this not a big problem. every insight the laptop has a BIOS CMOS battery for save time,date, and some bios information. When the small CMOS battery is very low then this warning are shows. You can continue with this problem. but it's better to change the CMOS battery. Thank you.

    Hii iam also facing same issue but my laptop works fine ,but sometimes when i am charging it stops the charging suppose at 40% and the white light appears and starts charging again. is it because of that CMOS issue ? please help

    I was working on my laptop and it suddenly turned off and wasn't starting again, i didn't knew what gone wrong so i tried searching for options to fix it. I found some tricks to restart it like 30 second hold power button but none was helpful. Next day it was working after couple of tries and showed me this " cmos 502" so i updated bios and everything from the official hp website then after 15 minutes or so it turned off again and after few more tries i found this error again. Can you please tell me what is exactly wrong in my laptop is it motherboard or cmos battery????

      Whenever i click on power button one of the two white light present on the right side turns on for like 3 seconds.
      And my laptop battery is already dead from a month now i am using it as it is cuz of pandemic and its really hard to find a replacement in my location.

      Okay,,,,i read your all massage. and understand your problem bro. actually, your laptop battery is in good condition really. and after a few months later your CMOS battery is dead it is normal broo. the actual problem is the motherboard battery ic which is present in the laptop motherboard. You need to find a good repair shop and repair it ,,,it need 1500-2000 rupees and then you can solve your all problem. after that your battery work properly. really. Thank you. and I'm sorry for the late reply. I understand your feeling because I'm a computer loving guy.😕

      Yes. it's resolved the problem. But you need to shutdown properly. If suddenly electric gone then again when you turn on the laptop same text error massage showing you. Thanks Afnan for query.

    Bro my laptop goes off automatically during sleep mode and not turning until i kept it in refrigerator for 30mint .Then turn on and shows 502 error when i press enter key it get started.

      That means your laptop CMOS battery or mini battery is out of charge. You need to change it. One thing you notice is that your computer's real-time is changed every time. That's the main problem. Just replace it by yourself. Thank you.

    If your laptop doesn't have separate CMOS battery like mine and your computer doesn't even turning on.
    1. Hold Win key + V an press power Button
    2. On Error screen press ENTER to rebot the system.
    3. Go to Bios for me is F10 or ESC.
    4. Navigate to Boot Options Disable Secure Boot, Clear All Secure Boot Keys, Endable Legacy Support.
    5. Save and Exit for me 100% fix after all day fighting.

    I want to corrupt the checksum. Are the following command correct?
    debug
    o 72 2E
    O 71 FF
    Exit
    If I corrupt the checksum I can reset the bios password. Before running previous command, I have I want to be sure if they are not dangerous for my computer. Eg : impossible to boot

      then there is no cell in your laptop because it is new. now you have to change the main battery

      Newer laptops don't have a CMOS battery. Is the main battery dead in your laptop .
