I had a similar thing, brought my xfr with 12k on the clock, still wearing its 4 year old, from factory dunlops. Absolutely horrific to drive, the rubber had turned to plastic. Fitted a full set of ps4s and it has completely changed the car. No question they are the best tyre for the car.

I can't find PS4S's for the front of my XFR (255/35ZR20) anywhere in the uk. ATS have them in XL, but I don't want XL and the rears have been removed from their site. Nowhere seems to sell them, the only ones I can find are on the car itself :(
@@69racer69 Thanks for reply. I guess XLs on the front is fine, but the only place that has the fronts is ATS, and they don't have the rears... so gotta buy fronts and rears separately which sucks. Yeah, I guess there must be a shortage issue. I thought the 5's were a replacement for the 4's, not the 4S's? Although I haven't looked into it tbh. If the 5's are as good as the 4S's and I can get them in the right size I'll go with those!

Another great vid bud, thanks for the content. I’m just about to buy a set of tyres for my XFR once I’ve repaid it for the accident I had. I only use my car once maybe twice a month, do you think I’d benefit for another brand or do you think the mps4 will not stiffen up in that time, last thing I’d want is to replace them all and find out the gone hard within a year cos I’m not using the car enough, plus I’m down in wales so it’s never about 7 lmao
Lol you’re in wales, that means you need some good wet weather tyres then lol. As long as you’re using them, they should be fine. I would rather try it then out anything else on the car.
Hi Luke, give these tyre's a go, Accelera Phi 2. I get all my tyre's off blackcircles. I have tested out alot of tyre's, and can honestly say these are good, as a all round budget tyre. You do get a tiny bit of wheel spin, if you completely floor it. If you don't do alot of mile's, these hold and handle well. And the Michelin PS4's, has to be one of the best premium tyre you can get. They are abit more expensive, but will bring out the very best from your XFR.
Thanks for the info buddy, the only trouble is I don’t think “budget” and “XFR” should be in the same sentence lol, I’d rather spend the extra and get a well known brand for piece of mind. I hear a lot of people say most tyres are made in the same place etc etc, it that won’t help by mind settle at 170 😂

I kick myself because it wasted £300, plus with another video coming up you’ll see I wasted some more money with the front tyres due to a poor set up 😢
Great video as every and very informative, I do like the fact you are very down to earth and an everyday ownder of the car wich is why i watch your videos but why on earth would you put part worn tyres on a 500HP+ car in the first place? I know tyres are not cheap but surely you anderstand the running / maintenance costs of owning such a vehicle when you buy it?
Thank you, I was at a loss and needed some tyres and didn’t want to put cheap tyres on. These looked perfect and were half price, so took a punt, but now I had to find some money to replace them after seeing them at MOT time. Never again.
Looks to me like those tires were used in too low of a temperature. For summer high performance summer tires Michelin warn of decreased grip below 5C and the tires should not be driven at all below -6C to avoid cracking which is what your tires have. My personal experience with Michelin Pilot Super Sports (a similar tire) is that they have a frightening loss of grip in the wet below about 10C and am contemplating replacing them with Pilot Sport All Seasons for that reason.
Definitely agree with you there, it’s very noticeable how the grip reduces so fast below 10c . I drive like an old woman in the winter, well that’s how it feels anyway 😂 It’s interesting about not driving on them at all below -6c, I didn’t know that before, thanks for the heads up. I’ll look into the all season tyres myself I think.
I have a mixed set of Dunlops and Continentals on my car that are AT LEAST 4 years old and they look and perform well. So, let me get this straight. You purchased a set of used Michelin tires...with the brand name on the sidewall and all. And only 3 years old according to the month and year stamped on the sidewall of each tire? And they didn't perform like a Michelin tire at all? I mean, I could see the "cracking" at the edges and within the grooves as you've shown. Were these fake branded Michelin's? That name is to me, an industry standard for the best tire on the market. Even at 3 years old they should have performed like new. I'm really, really confused by this. Were these used on another vehicle for testing purposes and then resold to the public; as is, no warranty? Is this what you mean by "part worn"? I've never heard this term before today.
I totally agree with you, they should of still performed, if they were used on a car for 3 years they would still be fine, it confused me too! it is because they were used on a car before and then stored, then I bought them 2nd hand (part worn) They looked perfect when I bought them, no cracks or anything, the cracks came after using them on the car for a couple of months. The new ones are so different, loads of grip, I can enjoy my car again.

Definitely a great tyre. Still go hard though, so must be where they don’t get used. Same with my Kart tyres, they don’t like staying soft over time.
