When I first read this , I thought 100% that the book was ending. I was so disappointed, because I loved the Freaks as an alternative to the x-men. I also have no interest in Vanguard but dang Eric Larson tried his best to get us to invest in his story....I never did
Gotta say. As a novelty is very cool. But I think it's a terrible way to make a comic. It only works because it's so rarely done and because there was so little he was trying to tell. Sneaking I. The frank darling and cyberface death are the saving grace to the actual writing in the book. Eric did as much as could be done given the self-imposed limitation.
Hmm. Now you got me wondering.. cause I definitely saw the Superman. Went and checked the dates.. thinking maybe dragon came first but no.. superman did. So. Either i didn’t see the superman till later.. OR, it just didn’t make any kind of impact or impression on me the way this dragon book did. But.. good point sir.
I thing this is a case of the gimmick makes this pretty bad in terms of value vs other comics at the time. We are here to read a story via paneling/layouts. I don't know. This just isn't my thing.
Another Epic Savage Dragon comicbook review. Fantastic Splash issue
Oh hell yeah. This is definitely one of the most epic moments in comics ever tbh
The amount of splash pages in this issue would make rob liefeld blush.🤓

I'd like to think that Vanguard poster was a subtle hint to the resolution to the events of this story.
You didn't see the all splash page death of superman issue before this?

I get that but in this case.. being a one off.. punctuating a major story element.. i was (obviously) very ok with it.
