malthus101 Klock has always played house in his sets, especially Chicago stuff (though that doesn't show up here). Look at the tracklist, pretty much all people who play at Berghain regularly...
+malthus101 this is from 10 years or more ago, when the berghain was new and just started out. klock was the new resident DJ and it was his first ever full-time DJ job after he quit being a graphic designer. techno was in the doldrums then, and caught in between the harder style before during the 90s, and the newer minimal phase that was to come later by 2005-08. most reviews of the early berghain DJ mix CDs were bad, with the exception of Berghain 02 by dettman. even len faki's berghain 03 was shit by his own standards today!
I was there in the early 90's dude, been at a lot of parties, and I wouldn't call Berghain "wannabe" 'cause I haven't seen many things wilder than this club.
lot of ravers wanna be there one time in their life because the sound inside is unique with real techno dj's who want to play there one time in their life too... But it doesn't mean that this is a "wanna be" club, as the public in general doesn't go there to be seeing but to enjoytechno and pure music sound all night long !
@@Juanjuke6342 I know the public reputation of the Berghain, that's why I was searching for sets. All I found was pretty boring. Very close to the early 2000s, when electronic music just had gone heartbeat flatline after the omnipresent minimal sound had destroyed all hedonism and fun, as this music was just matching the average fitness grade of the aged crowd well enough so elderly people could make themselves feel better thinking 'Hey, I'm over 30 now but I still can go to clubs!', while the really just where delusionally visiting a senior's club where they played slow and boring music optimized for pensioneers. Thus after hearing some sets the Berghain now honestly seems to be more of an artificial hype than a justified opinion to me. For example: just listen to this: watch?v=CSkj20zleeM That's what I am expecting of a techno club. Otherwise I could also go to a country festival instead ..
8 years later … i always come back to this set

Yes, very very talented, who would say that in the 90s there was lack of homegrown talent and big names in the city were from anywhere but Berlin.
indeed : klock, dettmann, DVS1, len faki, jonas kopp, marcel fengler, steffi, function, luke slater, cassy, norman nodge, shed, Martyn, Kobolis, Fiedel, Vatican Shadow, Answer code Request, terrence Fixmer, Boris, Tobias, Etapp Kyle, Ryan Elliott, virginia etc...

Is there some real techno in this wannabe club, too? This set sounds exactly like they used to play in the chillout areas in the early 90s...
ElMariachi go back to the 90s and stay there

If you call Berghain 'a wanna be club' then obviously you havent been there 😅
