  • The two reporters that accompanied jurors to walkthrough Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Thursday describe the chilling, blood-stained crime scene four years later. "One of the most difficult things to look at in addition to the blood in the hallways and classrooms is just the knowledge that these people were having a beautiful day. Everything is just kind of frozen where it happened," a reporter said. "It was disturbing on a number of levels."

I did not realize that this building had been left untouched during these 4 long years. I can only imagine the eerie feeling each person would have as they walk through the silence, knowing that on THAT day it was total chaos and terror and the sounds of gunfire and screaming. May God rest the souls of each of the ones who were murdered that day, and I offer my meager but heartfelt condolences to the still-grieving families of each child and teacher who died or who was injured. Incomprehensible.

I'm commenting on this video as part of my process of dealing with what I saw. My job is to convey to you that which you cannot see for yourself.
The state wants to execute this young man. Maybe you think that's what should happen, and you don't care what it costs (I've written about that). Maybe you think his life should be spared, regardless of the "heinous atrocious and cruel" nature of what he did. Ok, but I'm letting you know about that too.
People want easy answers and there are none.
Will this affect me mentally? Of course. And of course not. In the courtroom, the media are seated on the right and the families of the victims on the left. I know which side of the room I'm on. I'll be FINE.

The family/friend’s impact statements were so powerful and I bawled my eyes out to where I had to take out my contacts bc they got so blurry. I wish I could hug those family members, especially Chris Hixon’s little boy! He may not have been able to verbally express his feelings like the others, but in a way, that’s what made his testimony so powerful. I’m not a parent, but I have a 13 year old nephew and an almost 9 year old niece. If something like this were to happen to them, I don’t think I could go on. I wish Cruz would’ve let the judge choose his sentence for him, so the families wouldn’t have to relive this nightmare. I’m not getting political here, but something has to be done. And from February 24, 1903 until December 6, 1999, there were 294 school shootings (including Columbine which was the 291st incident of the 20th century or the 94th of the 1990s) in the US, an average of 3.16 shootings at schools per year.
There were 97 incidents in the 1990s, 61 in the 1980s, and 40 in the 1970s. And a minimum of 7 in ever preceding decade with most having more than 1 per year on average (1930s and 1940s were the only two decades in the 1900s where the US had fewer than 10 school shootings in a 10 year period.

Our team was supp to play them Feb 15 2018.
The feeling that came over me as I pulled into parking lot ,& looking at the building Froze me..I could not pull it together to get out of the car for over 30 min. So, We said each victims name& a prayer , & my children went in to warm up .I waited a few min, then marched in as if it were any other game. But it wasn't .
(Secretly- I rooted for MSD. I noticed an injured survivor on their team during warm ups. .When my daughter saw I was finally there , (and saw me wide eyed),she gave me a thumbs up... knowing exactly what I was thinking. She saw me crying a few tears holding hands w/ another random mom as the game started...which typically wed be on opposite side of stands.
Then ,she shook her head & winked at me.. I yelled to her & the team "make it count", as if it were Feb 15 2018, the tomorrow that never came. THE cheerleaders started to clap, scream, & cheer for the players.. ALL of them.. For a few seconds- we were ALL ONE TEAM .THEIR WAS an undescribable feeling of humanity in the air, like a loud calmness of serenity, as if the angels were cheering too. Sounds corny.... but it was invisible magic.
We had a scheduled game at MSD on Feb 15,2018...
    17 ppl didnt get that
' tomorrow' game. 17 injured ,plus THOUSANDS OF friends, families ,and ALL South Fl zipcodes -didnt get an average 'tomorrow' ...In our hearts, the game was FOR all of them- score didnt matter.
So MAYBE.. hate to say it.. but maybe' ppl NEED to 'SEE' reality.. it's way worse than the fiction we create in our minds.. I only saw the building, the banners, the 9 months after...and I'venever felt anything like that since.
    -4 1/2 yrs later.
How many ARs + 18 to 24 yr old shooters LATER?
-Malls, grocery stores, TX MIDDLE school,Uvalde, paso, Colorado, Indiana,, cali,orlando...NY, 4th of July parade!!😔
