When I was deciding on my Ph. D. dissertation topic, the best advice I received was - "Whenever the research question and the sub questions it later elicits generates, choose the smaller path. The reason being that even the small path is a lot bigger than you think."
Truer words were never spoken. I will add that a PhD candidate or other researcher is often drawn to an apparent large gap in a research field. You think you can be the first explorer of this" green field. " In my experience, everyone else has seen it, considered it, and left it alone as it is too large for you to isolate much variance. It's better to start out by mildly extending an existing research path and then consider a " green field" project after you have become well established as a researcher ;typically tenured. Green fields have swallowed up far too many PhD candidates and destroyed them.

Thank you! I am struggling to integrate AI into my research projects mostly because of the lack of proper run through demo like this. This is really helpful 😊

One quick question. I see you have many videos on academic tools/apps. What would be your ONE go to place for academic research - especially literature review in social science - even if it is a paid option? Please guide me. I can buy only one subscription. Thank you!

I don´t think that it covers all the database papers or meta-data to detect that research gap you mentioning. I also notice that Litmaps does not currently offer "derivative works" feature and it doesn't explicitly highlight papers that build directly upon or cite a specific work as "derivative works."

Can I use it for searching any articles? For example related to my business in search with pharmaceutical products?
