I was raised in Gizo island as a child my parents missionaries left me with the Kiribati ethnic people in Titiana village for 2 years when they had to go to Europe to a family emergency When they came back to pack to go to New Zealand I was fluent in Kiribati language and customs and didn’t want to go I wanted and o stay 😭 I’m 60 years old now soon I will retire and go visit to see if my Kiribati friends are still there . I have yearned for them all my life Beia if you are reading this it’s Pieter actually this is making me weep as a boy I was initiated and a coconut plant was planted in the village in my name

FYI Kiribati people were resettled in the Solomon Islands from some of the Kiribati Islands in the 1950s during the drought period and also land shortage by British Colonialists. The language is sung in Kiribati. Auesa Ko rangin bwana raoi. Aha ao bon kain Onotoa ao Tabiteuea naba am number touana fan aei.
Yes that's right my father was council member during colonials days and as Chief of Kolombangara my father and all his members agreed to have them settle at Titiana Village on Gizo Island some were given. The island of Wagina off Choiseul. So the Kiribati are part of us our Families of Western Province we are very proud to have them as they are very talented in Marines, Engineering Steevedoring and Electricians and Accountant. They now inter married to our girls and boys it's our new Genes Korapa nou for this music.
