@@crispymartyr Exactly! Even if it isn't always rewarded with a new path, it may have the effect of making the Narrator angry, which is basically the goal of the game. Though I guess when the Narrator has nothing programmed for your interactions, Jacob can help fill in. :)
As a fellow squirrel gamer, I appreciate the representation. Whenever Julia goes the complete opposite direction from where the game clearly wants her to go or wiggles the same doorknob 500 times, I feel seen
I think I’ve been like scared into it by games where if you progress the main story some side quests become inaccessible, so I click everything, I go away from big quest markers
I was so hoping the "you find one thing to do" would've immediately cut to Julia and the fire alarms in Superliminal. That was gold, even more so when she was _actually rewarded for it._
I picture a scenario where Arin is about to actually see a tutorial and then Julia skips it and Arin doesn't realize and they go through half the game not knowing how to do something. Half the comments are screaming instructions that fall on deaf ears and the other half is praising Julia for creating chaos
You know what, Julia is a real gamer BECAUSE THIS IS HOW I GAME. LOOK INTO THE CORNERS. EAT THE SCENERY. THERE'S A DETAIL THAT MIGHT NEED ADMIRING, AND I WILL ADMIRE IT.
I do it because of my bioshock experience. So much to see, so much random story tidbits scattered around, and even just random little easter eggs like pac man in the brewery.
The tritone is an musical interval where the notes are a diminished fifth or an augmented fourth apart. It is perhaps the least pleasant interval in music theory, and in fact can cause feelings of dissatisfaction if it is not resolved outwards to a perfect fifth or inwards to a third. In the earliest days of written music and European church music, it was actually called the Devil’s interval and was not allowed in European church music. (Source for all this: I’m a music major.) Anyways the two truck horns are a tritone apart
unfortunately the whole "banned in church music" thing is a gross exaggeration - the tritone was definitely avoided as much as possible, but nobody (that we know of) was ever banned or excommunicated! the whole thing was blown out of proportion by later generations of musicians because everyone loves a good story source: adam neely
The untitled goose game shenanigans she did was amazing. She truly embodied the goose, while Jacob was focused on getting the tasks done whenever he did it. She's also just a really talented player when she has a game element that suits her, but is a disaster in games presuming you will behave in a "normal" way 😅
I noticed the other week that the Untitled Goose Game had launched a 2 player mode and I so badly want to see them play it again together. Jacob can do all the tasks and Julia can honk and find a date 😆
There's a moment from when they played "No One Lives Under The Lighthouse" where Julia is running up to a door in a zig zag pattern and Jacob defeatedly comments something along the lines of "You just can't ever enter a door normally can you" and it is one of the best and funniest examples of how Julia approaches games
I was going to say the same thing, she plays like no one else and finds every impossible glitch or thing that the devs haven't thought of. Julia is the ultimate beta tester
Julia’s “obsessively checking every door” mentality would be highly rewarded in the Silent Hill games…. Maybe not for checking them 16 times in a row but you know
i looked away to do something else while this video was playing and without context repeatedly hearing absolute silence and then julia’s insane keysmashing nearly killed me
In Julia's defense, if the developers didn't want her to spend a ridiculous amount of time looking at and interacting with everything to the point of inducing insanity in whoever is watching, they shouldn't have put them in the game
as someone who has both never played dark souls, and also never watched anyone else play dark souls, julia’s dark souls play through is the best thing i’ve ever watched i was enamored the entire time 10/10 and julia is 100% correct: if i wanted to watch someone play games 100% correctly or “normally” i would not be watching sss lol
I love this. She plays games like I do! There is a video somewhere of me beating a breathe of the wild shrine where you’re supposed to use a metal bucket to carry a ball into a socket, but I solved it by immediately and haphazardly throwing some bombs into the water (as I did with every shrine) and one of them happened to toss the ball right into the socket. I could not replicate it afterwards, though you better believe I tried.
Oh, this is so good. Julia is most entertaining when she’s having fun. And I love the edits. Also, when Julia said “Let Julia honk!” I really made myself laugh expecting the next clip to be Julia doing more honking in Untitled Goose Game.
I have nothing but pure unadulterated admiration for the way Julia plays. She does with video games what I do with tabletop RPGs. I know I drive everyone crazy because we're in a dungeon and the party is trying to solve puzzles but I saw a little blue fuzzy thing and I have to do everything with it. Pick it up. Squish it. Try to tear it in half. Eat it. I don't care if the room is filling up with acid.... I found my trip toy and my GM hates himself for mentioning it and I am DELIGHTED.
