Its the not immediate threat thats most deadly, its the persistant threat that gets you when you become complacent. That one unexpected threat, not becuase its new or un obvious, but because you taught yourself to stop expecting it, so when it inevatably happens you wont expect be it.
I don't know if anyone knows this, but if you're being ganged by 3 zombies, press shift to jog and you will shove them out of the way and escape the grapple, this is useful to avoid being dragged down and lower the chance of you getting a bite. Jogging is very important and it always helps me shove zombies out of my way when in a sticky situation.
Tips from someone who has played with deaf sience i got the game: * Check around when you are about to do something. * Having your back against the wall helps a lot when idle.. * If you see 1 zombie there are at least 10 more. * Kill as many zombies as you can you dont know when the helicopter comes. * Avoid corridors and figthing in corridors. * Either break a window, do a quick raid and get out or break a window, go loot elsewere and come back.
Another tip is, Pushing(Space) is very effective every time you blindly open a door or go corner. What i would do is spam this button whenever i open a door, this pushes 2-3 zombies really quick and if youre lucky, it will make them fall. which It gives you a little immunity and prepares you for a fight or run away bonus tip: another risky tip if youre confident enough was, Sprinting(shift) Will cause your character to walk pass zombies and giving them a Pushed animation, which disables them to give you a bite animation. its funny becasue if yo get stuck on a wall with a zombie next to you, you will kept the zombie animation going without it giving a chance to bite you, its more like a reverse bite lock. just make sure you dont actually sprint(Alt) because this will cause your character to trip down
4:43 Actually, whe you reach level 6 or 7, after the spear kills the zombie behind, the push animation makes an instant kill to the zombie closer to me. It happened to me a lot of times once y reached those levels. I love the spear.
Another note: ALWAYS PEEK BEHIND YOURSELF. If you're in the midst of fighting 3-4 zombies and are back-peddling while fighting them, always take a short moment to peek behind yourself so you don't get stuck between two zombies, this habit alone can save you so many times.
I usually keep my "combat stance" on when first going through buildings as it's a good way to level up nimble while searching. The whispering near doors is a good trick though, I'll have to use that.
Great video, I'd just suggest turning the game sound down a bit as sometimes it was hard to hear you. Most of the time it was fine tho, also I was laughing too much at the emotes lol
Yeah some of the tips I couldn't make out. In the Misc section there was something about spears I couldn't understand and later something about a ground attack?
Great Video! also really funny lmao. informative and great examples as well! I agree with turning down the in game volume a tiny bit while talking but I was still able to hear you fine, but others may not be. Also love your voice, you sound amazing! keep up the great work!
I think this guide covers this topic pretty well. Another tip I'd recommend, while not dealing with situational awareness directly but still will help is before entering a building, especially houses, take a few minutes and scope out your area. Look through any windows, plan escape routes, and prepare to deal with any zombies that may be outside or inside the building. This method gave me more spatial awareness and what to expect behind a closed door, lowering the chances of getting surprised.
I'm relatively new to the game, so I could be talking out of my ass here, but Thick Skinned has been saving my life a lot. Definitely going to try this keen hearing stuff out tho.
I have heard the opposite: these traits only apply to bare skin and any item of clothing negates it, or at least the thin skin trait, so it's basically free points to have thin skin
@@themysteryman1482 saw a vid of a guy showing beginner builds, and explaining why he picked certain traits. Thin skin was among them, and this was what he explained about it. No idea if thick skin works the same but it sounds logical Plus from what I heard scratches don't infect often, bites do Note: I don't have the game yet, just looking at vids, and some might have outdated info. You might start two new games, one with thick skin, one with thin skin, put on some long sleeves, and try to confront one zombie, trying to get scratched and see what the results are. Or maybe you can find a recent vid on it

I haven't had as much fun in MP as I did in one instance in a PZ server. It was in Riverside, I had just spawned. I am pretty sure it was my first or second attempt at playing in an MP server. It was populated with people online already, and folks just hanging out in Riverside chatting together, not playing really. I don't often put my nose up to such things, but for some reason I just had a real bad itch that day. The 3-4 players that were hanging around one another along a street with homes and the iron fences (black fences), I said hello all polite and that I was new. They were reciprocal of my pleasantries and all was well. This is when I decided they needed some spice in their life. So as they were again getting busy of running around each others houses and chit chatting, I slinked off into the night. I made sure I wasn't followed, and that I couldn't hear their proximity chat, and decided to starting pressing Q, many many times. At around 6 a.m in game, a fog had fallen over the server, and a considerable horde was tailing me. I would put the number at about 200. Circling back to their block, I ran for their entrance and then started walking again, the crowd of fans behind me were still hot on my heels. They said "oh hey youre back" and while holding back laughter I said "Yes, I sure am". All of the sudden, there was one, and then a cluster of three, and then more and more zeds started pouring onto the road. All of them started squeaking and screaming in astonishment and raw fear of the small horde that was now assailing their homes. I could not help but let out my laughter in the proximity chat while we struggled to kill them all. No one died, as they had sufficient means to handle these numbers of zeddies, and plenty of players to fight. It was over far quicker than it took to round up those numbers. I eventually fessed up to it, but they were not angry, as it did exactly what I set out to do, spice their lives up. I did the same thing to another group in another server in Rosewood, they weren't so amused by my antics though. My retaliation to them being poor sports about it, was to actually shit on their base with several hundred zeds I rounded up that I spent at least an hour irl getting behind me after the initial few I found in the town the first time. Thanks for reading!
"pre-firing" doors can help if you know a zombie is behind it, especially if you have a slower weapon like wood axe. can end up opening a door on a zombie mid attack and it will land
love keen hearing. Especially with sprinters. Otherwise you have no chance of reacting once you notice them. Also corners in houses are meeaan. Good tip to whisper while indoors looting. Damn so many good tips, always thought about how to knock on doors, but flashing the door is actually really good tip, also didn't know you stand up quicker when holding down shift. I'd put trees on the same danger level as trees. I hate tree zombies. (also potentially open windows, I just avoid anything where zombies can just pop up. Atleast they dont fall off roofs very often) 10/10 video, actually very useful and I didn't know atleast 50% of these.
3:43 here's some advanced tech: mantain a combat stance and walk backwards while you open the door. if you see nothing then it's unlikely for a horde to be there, so you can then jog inside. you will "shoulder pat" any zombie that touches you, stunning it, and the best part is you don't have a chance to fall unless you do two "shoulder pats" in a row. if you walk through in a combat stance then you risk a zombie being right behind you, or even start attacking while you don't even see it yet, because you're essentially walking through two blind corners.
The technique i use with opening doors is the 1.2.3 swing. As I open the door I'm attacking the same half second after. You can swing and hit what's too close then shut the door if more than a few. I might love spears but never want to use them for the stabbing animation limitations. It just isn't worth it unless it a sizable gap. While attacking a large horde I'm always seconds from running just in case one pops up behind me. TO prevent that I always round them up. Always keeping the horde in a tight group. Some might break off but you can see them. NEVER back away only in a direction you haven't been yet. Take the time and think about it.
@@PZB_Gaming thanks it's important to think in the ways of reality. I hate buildings. Before I go in many of them after a simple perimeter clean before going in so you're less likely to have your first entry in blocked off by zombies. For solo play I do what i call "bread crumbs" at each turn. Using ripped sheets. I drop one at the intersection and one down the way i want. That way if things get crazy the lest I know the way I came from probably less surprises that direction. I pride my self by knowing which way i been. Yet panic changes everything and any second less guessed the better you will be. Most deaths are caused by overconfidence and less guessing at panicked moments. You got game panic and reality panic. Most games do have real panic.
Yeah if you pair that with Keen Hearing, you can sit on the ground to get endurance back and speed up time without having to worry about getting snuck up on since time goes back to normal the moment a zombie is too close. Then just use the fast stand method to get up. It’s possible without Keen Hearing but you need a quicker reaction time.
Hi, I don’t know how relevant this is to the video but, something I’ve noticed is how dangerous zombies can become around fences. I’ve seen many people recommend getting zombies to leap fences as it puts them in a state where you can stomp them in addition to breaking up tightly knit hordes. However there is a significant danger as some zombies will lunge after falling over the fence which CAN cause an injury leading to zombification, at least to my knowledge.
Door flashes, when instant, don’t alert any zed, and it gives you a quick flash of any occupants within sight lines. Just gotta be faster opening and shutting it then shown here.
I have thousands of hours in this game and a two year survival record on apocalypse mode. I did not know about getting up faster with shift. Amazing tips. Should be pinned on the pz subreddit and steam forum.
I tend choose perks that help with awareness and ofc I choose the appropriate negatives to compensate, and also I make sure I can hear my game noises well to help me out better in the long run when clearing buildings and identifying where the zeds are behind locked doors, and also awareness of fellow survivors when clearing places or horde fights
0:27 Literally how my longest surviving character died. I'd been alive for 6 months by then and was basically only scavenging to improve my base since I already had the necessities worked out when I walked past a garage and a zombie came and bit me from behind and on the arm. Rest in peace John Halo, may your successor "Cortana Microsoft" carry on your spirit...
I remember when I was based in the church at Riverside. I was so sure I had cleared the area and was looting a clothes store when a zombie came out of the back room and bit into my neck; I ended up dying before I could even get out the door. I was so shocked
I survived a month and a few days in the game and died from walking around a corner and running straight into a single zombie. All very good and correct tips in the video!
Just like you said, bathroom horde can be handled by door flash or door knocking to test it. IMO Stairs are most dangerous. There is no door for you to flash and knock on. You can't see what's on the next floor until you are up there. Shouting not alway trigger zeds on next floor. One time I was in the restaurant next to the post office in West Point. I went up stairs and found a horde upstairs right next to the stair exit point. The end. Just remeber to shout when you are in the middle of the stairs. Hopefully it will triggers some zeds to come down once at a time.
Absolutely number one is opening all unknown doors at the literal limit of distance away you can still activate them, in combat stance. The other is just giving up and running away a few steps if there starts to be any weirdness with on the ground/close in zombies in a combat situation. They start standing up when you thought you were standing on them, or a ground attack misses and they start moving, just roll at run speed a few steps and try to forc the situation to a exactly left or right on the screen encounter. The aiming is too weird and you will get bitten trying to panic-attack them.
When i have a gun in PZ i always try to emulate irl military tactics such as breach and clearing and checking corners, etc. It has many times saved my guys life lol
When going outside or in a large room, if you don’t know how many zombies are on the other side, running straight out the door is better than a slow approach. Unless it’s a freakishly huge horde with no maneuverability anyway, your chances of survival are greater, you can bump a few zombies before you risk tripping rather than have 1 zombie snag you and you get tag teamed by others until you get pulled down.
I recommend a mod if anybody struggles with finding zeds called Sixth Sense. It’s simple, tracks any human being (zed or survivor) within a 15 meter radius. Using it in stealth builds is nice, as you can path around zeds even in a forest
If I cleared an area recently and want to do something like strip cars I'll just lean on the car horn or turn a siren on for a bit. Best to sacrifice a couple of hours clearing out the dozen or so that'll usually show up.
0:19 like the one that you back-pedal into while fighting a horde... the one dancing is equally safe, if not safer than the one in a horde as one miss step and you'll be bitten to death, when alone one zombie has a CHANCE of actually biting you if you have enough protection.
high quality from a under 250 sub channel, i will now type a generic "this channel is underrated" comment instead of something personalized to the channels content
The video is very helpful! I wonder if it would be possible to raise the audio of your voice, compared to the in-game sound effects? It's a bit hard to hear your voice over the zombie sound effects.
I did mention it briefly when sprinting to stop an attack when looking off in the distance but I should've made it it's own section though looking back, good catch!
These are great tips. I will add that the fail proof way to handle doors is to open and walk away immediately. No need to run or be in combat stance. Just walk. You don't have to do this every time, but do it when you're not sure if a zombie is behind the door. When scouting a building, don't sneak unless you have a good reason to, for example if you want to avoid zombies outside from entering the building. Any zombies hiding behind doors will react to the walking noise, which means you won't get caught off guard. I don't recommend any traits that changes the mechanics of the game, like sharp hearing or graceful. At the end of the day they're crutches, and when you no longer use them, you have to recalibrate your habits. So using them actually hurts your ability to improve at the game. Don't even pick the negative traits, for the same reason. Consistent feedback from the game is key to mastering the game. Only pick good traits that adds modifiers, such as increased strength or faster skill up.

Its the not immediate threat thats most deadly, its the persistant threat that gets you when you become complacent. That one unexpected threat, not becuase its new or un obvious, but because you taught yourself to stop expecting it, so when it inevatably happens you wont expect be it.
That may have been Simon Peg talking about Dead Set. He could have also been paraphrasing someone though.
Good stuff, didn't know about the shift button getting up quicker. Probably a life saver.
Or carry a foldable chair around with you
@@ZESTdabest Stack both of them and you regen stamina even faster.
3? Half life 3 confirmed!
Side note:
Never press alt(fast sprint) when running into zombies, it's 99% chance that you'll trip and fall and thus be a goner
@@aeromorphenjoyer7102 Better yet, never fast sprint... I've considered unbinding the key just to reduce the number of times I die stupidly.
Wait there's a fast sprint? No wonder sprinters were such a pain in the ass@@Arbaaltheundefeated
Tips from someone who has played with deaf sience i got the game:
* Check around when you are about to do something.
What i would do is spam this button whenever i open a door, this pushes 2-3 zombies really quick and if youre lucky, it will make them fall. which It gives you a little immunity and prepares you for a fight or run away
bonus tip: another risky tip if youre confident enough was, Sprinting(shift) Will cause your character to walk pass zombies and giving them a Pushed animation, which disables them to give you a bite animation. its funny becasue if yo get stuck on a wall with a zombie next to you, you will kept the zombie animation going without it giving a chance to bite you, its more like a reverse bite lock. just make sure you dont actually sprint(Alt) because this will cause your character to trip down
4:43
Actually, whe you reach level 6 or 7, after the spear kills the zombie behind, the push animation makes an instant kill to the zombie closer to me. It happened to me a lot of times once y reached those levels.
I love the spear.
Great video! Always have to stay on your toes with this game
I've always been saying: "The zombie you don't see is the one that gets you."
I like how the demonstration character is one of the scientist models from half life
I appreciate the humor. The running bit was funny and didn't take away from the videos info
@@sjonnieplayfull5859 man is that true 💀 that would suck. I got hurt like 20 times before I actually got infected though with the trait.
@@themysteryman1482 saw a vid of a guy showing beginner builds, and explaining why he picked certain traits. Thin skin was among them, and this was what he explained about it. No idea if thick skin works the same but it sounds logical
Plus from what I heard scratches don't infect often, bites do
Note: I don't have the game yet, just looking at vids, and some might have outdated info.

That's actually the best tutorial I've seen on the nuances of hidden PZ combat mechanics, bro.
That warrants a sub. Cheers! 🎉
Atleast they dont fall off roofs very often)
10/10 video, actually very useful and I didn't know atleast 50% of these.
I have died more by tripping, than by the zombies themselves.
We are our own worst enemy
Very good strategy!
A tip for when youre sitting down: You can stand up a lot quicker if you hold down the left shift key whilst pushing any of the directional buttons.
"Ah, hello Gordon Freeman. Do you smell what I smell ?"
I didn't know holding shift made you get up faster. That's super helpful. Thanks mate! :D
Door flashes, when instant, don’t alert any zed, and it gives you a quick flash of any occupants within sight lines.
Just gotta be faster opening and shutting it then shown here.

this custom moodle will tell you if theres any zombies in a 20 meter radius
Great explanations, this would really help me survive more than a week
I’ve played this game for 200h and did not know that holding shift lets you get up faster. Hidden freaking info nugget. Thank you so much
I remember when I was based in the church at Riverside. I was so sure I had cleared the area and was looting a clothes store when a zombie came out of the back room and bit into my neck; I ended up dying before I could even get out the door. I was so shocked
I'm gonna buy this game soon. Useful video, lots of good strategies. Thanks for posting. Subscribed.
Keen hearing is a MUST for new players honestly.
I survived a month and a few days in the game and died from walking around a corner and running straight into a single zombie. All very good and correct tips in the video!
Everytime Dr Coomer changes a lab coat, he gets stronger and stronger
The longer Dr Coomer changes his lab coat, the stronger he will become.
Thanks!
Very helpful..keep the content coming.
These videos are really cool, I like your tone.
I don’t even play the game but this is getting me interested in it.
It's nice to see those black mesa guys getting decent employment after the budget cuts.
Open areas and shouting is super powerful if you can handle combat.
I will say with 1200+ hours this video was very well said and had some very good tips for beginners!
P.S: Fuck bathroom hordes
Absolutely number one is opening all unknown doors at the literal limit of distance away you can still activate them, in combat stance.
The other is just giving up and running away a few steps if there starts to be any weirdness with on the ground/close in zombies in a combat situation. They start standing up when you thought you were standing on them, or a ground attack misses and they start moving, just roll at run speed a few steps and try to forc the situation to a exactly left or right on the screen encounter. The aiming is too weird and you will get bitten trying to panic-attack them.
Congrats on having a video blow up
When i have a gun in PZ i always try to emulate irl military tactics such as breach and clearing and checking corners, etc. It has many times saved my guys life lol
no idea why this video does not have more attention
When going outside or in a large room, if you don’t know how many zombies are on the other side, running straight out the door is better than a slow approach. Unless it’s a freakishly huge horde with no maneuverability anyway, your chances of survival are greater, you can bump a few zombies before you risk tripping rather than have 1 zombie snag you and you get tag teamed by others until you get pulled down.
Good advice! I've watched your videos, the funniest one to me was you reading The Absolute State of TF2 steam guide.
@@PZB_Gaming Well thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoy the dumb stuff I make
I recommend a mod if anybody struggles with finding zeds called Sixth Sense. It’s simple, tracks any human being (zed or survivor) within a 15 meter radius. Using it in stealth builds is nice, as you can path around zeds even in a forest
The combat stance tip is something I do all the time in game and is a great tech. If you’re not ready to kill, you’re ready to die.

Dr. Kleiner in the zombie apocalypse. How unforseen

1:32 if he held shift while getting up he would've been fine
If I cleared an area recently and want to do something like strip cars I'll just lean on the car horn or turn a siren on for a bit. Best to sacrifice a couple of hours clearing out the dozen or so that'll usually show up.
very helpful!, i’m still kinda new to this game too
0:19 like the one that you back-pedal into while fighting a horde... the one dancing is equally safe, if not safer than the one in a horde as one miss step and you'll be bitten to death, when alone one zombie has a CHANCE of actually biting you if you have enough protection.
high quality from a under 250 sub channel, i will now type a generic "this channel is underrated" comment instead of something personalized to the channels content
The video is very helpful! I wonder if it would be possible to raise the audio of your voice, compared to the in-game sound effects? It's a bit hard to hear your voice over the zombie sound effects.
"try and make wide corners" *immediatly gets mauled for not making a wide turn*
One more tip, in case of danger, stay focus and don't rush, in this game, you're always one missclic away from death.
Huh. Most of the times I die by the horde because I went into a building I wasn't familiar with, or a single zombie that drags me to my doom
Tips from me : Always be ready to press space
These are all pro tips, sad jog sholder bumping wasnt included
I did mention it briefly when sprinting to stop an attack when looking off in the distance but I should've made it it's own section though looking back, good catch!
Actually useful. Thank you
LOVE your tutorial. 2 coffees on me bru.
I always says that to my friend and mostly to meself, Look Around! Prioritize your targets.
The amount of spinning I do in the game, you would think I was a lighthouse.
Can't believe they added Dr. Kleiner to Project Zomboid
Door shaking can be disabled in the settings and maybe server settings so be careful
Love the hl1 scientist sounds
When you want to turn at a corner stay far from it and go 2-3 tiles away from it so you can see the zomboid right behind the wall
Rule 1: Never assume you are safe. You are never safe.
I am very paranoid. But sometimes I get over confident and bring in over a large hoard then get exhausted and die
"I predicted all of this, you know?"
