I am Filipino and i love our SILOGs however this video brings me back to my first ever plane ride which happens to be a flight to Singapore. I had Kaya Toast and Eggs as my breakfast on my 2nd say and I never forgot how it was. It will always remain as one of my favorite breakfast meals ever.
I’m a Japanese living in S’pore & love Kaya toast. Yet don’t think I’m gonna make it at home but interesting to see someone actually making it. I’ve been loving your website & lifestyle :)
Hey I loved the recipe of Kaya, I will surely try it. I am from India, our breakfast is mostly tea/coffee with a local dish called Idli or Dosa which is basically a dish made from lentils served with spicy curry
Singapore is my most visited place in the world. I live in the Philippines and I go here more times than any other city since I was a kid. It's so amazing how Southeast Asian food is interpreted in this side of the globe, ours is honestly too Spanish and American, even if we grow pandan leaves and have an abundant coconuts as well. Singapore has one of the best foods ever, hands down. Always Nasi Lemak and Hainanese Chicken Rice upon arriving~~
My favorite American breakfast is something called Biscuits & Gravy. It's two split buttermilk biscuits served with country sausage gravy. If you're really hungry, add a couple of eggs however you prefer them cooked, and a cup of strong hot coffee or hot tea with milk and sugar. The sausage gravy is made with a specific American sausage called "breakfast sausage," spiced heavily with sage. It's just delicious, and I hope you get to try it some day.
Thanks for sharing ! Hope to travel to Singapour some day and taste it. As a french, I have 2 favorites classics : croissant or tartine (slice of good toasted bread, with good butter and homemade jam by my mum). Never tired of those ! But recently I just tried many porridge recipes...
Saw this in a show and I’ve wanted to try it so much. I’m travelling to Malaysia next month so I hope I can find it there, the process looks a lot simpler than I had imagined.
I’d love to sit in a hawker centre right now to enjoy this solf boiled egg kaya toast. But I don’t think it’ll happen anytime soon, so I probably have to make my own. Thanks for the beautifully presented tutorial :)
Hiya, I'm from Brazil, there's a breakfast food here called tapioca, is a flour that when heated up, sticks together forming a crust. Is very plain, so we eat it with all sorts of toppings!! I really recommend trying it out
My favorite breakfast here in the US is seeded rye toast spread with mashed avacado, sliced boiled egg, crushed pistachios, and a bit of fresh chopped cilantro. I usually have half glass of 1% cow's milk with this.
What kind of courier service your friend used to send the kaya? I want to send to my friend also but worried that the kaya will go bad in the process of delivery.
Woah! Looks delicious! Will have to see if pandan leaves and palm sugar are available at the local Asian grocery. Favourite breakfasts are probably whole wheat/grain banana pancakes with maple syrup or century egg congee with lean pork and you tiao.
Im not even singaporean but I LOVED eating this when I vacationed in singapore. Every morning I would walk to the Yakun kaya toast shop to eat their kaya toast. Best breakfast ever. Unfortunately we don't have kaya in the U.S :(
Love how you filmed and styled this! So clean and minimal 💕 I've only tried Kaya toast with butter, not peanut butter. But I should try it too! Thank you for sharing how to make it, can't wait to try and make this at home too! 🤗
Looks delicious, can't wait to try this. Two questions: - Are the runny eggs safe for consumption? - How long to boil the eggs to reach the runny state?
Runny eggs are generally safe for consumption in our country, so there's a low risk of contracting salmonella. It's best to check your local food safety guidelines! We place the eggs in a pot and add boiling hot water till the eggs are completely covered for about 6½ minutes. We've included the recipe in the description box. Hope this helps! 🙂
@@ThoughtworthyCo Thank you for taking the time to share further information and recipe details. I'll be sure to give it a try once I source pandan leaves.
What a deliciously aesthetic breakfast- it always impresses me how clean and well lit the shots are. I'm in the tourist demographic that fears half boiled eggs, but my breakfast pancakes arent anything to write home about, either 😗
It's my first time to hear about Kaya but it looks delicious 😋 my favorite breakfast is the arabian breakfast ( shakshuka and cheese with some veggie and tea ) 💗💗👍🏼
i LOVE kaya toast but without the egg mixture and the thing is there is no way to find pandan leaves or even a jar of kaya the saddest thing is when you miss a flavour of your childhood which have a great memories related to it and you cant have it back
You can omit the pandan leaves if you can't find them! I've not tried pandan juice before, but how much to add will depend on your preference. Hope this helps!
Talking about our indian breakfast we have this toast which is made my dipping in gram flour batter and cooked on low heat on pan ... its called "besan bread pakoda"
Have you tried Kaya before? What's your favorite breakfast from your local culture?
I am from India and I love aloo and puri
In Indonesia, it's called Srikaya Jam
Longsilog from the philippines

Whoaa my kind of comfort breakfast 😋👍 . It reminisces my childhood everytime my dad (R.I.P) made my breakfast. 😌

I just had the half boiled egg a few days back for the first time! Loved it with buttered toast as well. Would love to try Kaya sometime.
Nice! Definitely give Kaya a try when you get the chance 🙌

@Julie Carson
A glass of 1% cow's milk? What does that mean? The other 99% is water? What do you mix the tiny amount of milk into? Thanks.
We have skim milk, 1% milk fat milk, 2% milk fat milk and whole milk.
@@juliecarson7364 Thank you for your reply. What is "milk fat milk"?
I love kaya toast but it's so hard to find pandan leaf here! I just have my SG friends send me a jar :D

Just in time! Was planning to make kaya jam
Very nice! 🙌
Hi, I've been to Singapore many times, not tried the Kaya toast before. It looks delicious though! Love your laid back lifestyle
Thanks! You must try Kaya toast the next time you visit Singapore! 😁🙌
Is Kaya spread supposed to taste eggy? I bought a jar and it's lovely but very strong taste of eggs, is this normal or just a bad jar? Thanks
Looks delicious, can't wait to try this.

I'm in the tourist demographic that fears half boiled eggs, but my breakfast pancakes arent anything to write home about, either 😗
but your tarts and pies look amazing tho (we've been stalking ✌😉)!
Its not compulsory to eat half boiled eggs with the toast too. Its 2 separate foods
I just made it. Its bussin
Loved learning this from you
🙌💕
I miss this breakfast so much 😓
Looks awesome!
Thanks!
Tried it, it was yummy!!

For me has to be full English breakfast. Baked beans with sausages, bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs and toast. Mmmm
Can't go wrong with some bacon and eggs!

ohmygosh i love kaya, gonna have to ask my mum where to buy pandan leaves from because i have no ide but keen to try this recipe out
Definitely try it out if you can! Good luck in your search for pandan leaves! 🙌
What were the leaves and the brown stuff you used before labelling the ingredients?
They're pandan leaves and palm sugar (gula melaka). Link to the recipes can be found in the description box :)
My mom makes her own kaya toast for the fam too! This is making me crave for some sg bfast rn 🤤 gonna make it tmr!
Your mom's awesome 💪 If it makes you crave for sg breakfast, then the video has done its job 😁
i LOVE kaya toast but without the egg mixture and the thing is there is no way to find pandan leaves or even a jar of kaya
the saddest thing is when you miss a flavour of your childhood which have a great memories related to it and you cant have it back
As a local, I prefer my green pandan kaya.
Looks delicious. But I can't find pandan leaves around here. So can I use pandan juice instead? If so what is the measurement should I put? Thanks
You can omit the pandan leaves if you can't find them! I've not tried pandan juice before, but how much to add will depend on your preference. Hope this helps!
@@ThoughtworthyCo thanks for your response. What if i wanted to make double of this kaya? Do i just double the amount of ingredients?
@@hammerfall6666 Yup that's right!
Can i do this with pandan extract instead? It's so hard to find pandan leaves here
You can omit the pandan leaves if you can’t find it in your country, otherwise a little bit of pandan extract can work too!
Omg drooling .. 🤤🤤🤤
😁😁
What are you dipping kaya into at the end?
That's soft-boiled eggs with soy sauce and pepper, commonly eaten with kaya toast :)
we malaysians prefer the same way of breakfast too🤣 but I think we use light soy sauce instead of dark ones
We have a lot of similiarities as neighbors! 🙌
Dude you forget the cold butter in the middle 🤤
Hi! How long can this be stored for?
It keeps for about 1 week in the fridge!
You should look up for Turkish breakfast it's amazing
Will definitely check it out!
We make these in Malaysia too ❤
🙌💕
How long does this last? Want to try to make it 😍
You can keep it in the fridge for about a week!
how long does it take to boil the egg
The recipe for the half boiled eggs can be found in the link in our description.
Love the Dominos more. 😆
May I ask the brand name of the dark soy sauce you mentioned in the video lol?
We don't have a go-to brand for dark soy sauce, but the one I'm using in the video is Tiger Brand.
What type of bread is that and how is it so crispy
Actually we have no idea what kind of bread it is 😅 they're commonly sold in our local bakeries.
@@ThoughtworthyCo oh I found that bread in fair price, Its called Hainanese bread, tastes amazing :D
How do diabetics enjoy Kaya toast ?
Can i use pandan extract?
I've not used pandan extract before but it should work. It's highly concentrated, so just a few drops should be sufficient.
I thought kaya is kind of fruit jam. Knowing that it is just sugar and egg yolk, I won't eat it as much as I did. Thank you for the video ☺️.
That's what we love about cooking: learning more about the food that we're eating! 🙌
Talking about our indian breakfast we have this toast which is made my dipping in gram flour batter and cooked on low heat on pan ... its called "besan bread pakoda"
Singapore teaaaa breakfast please
Ya Kun or Killiney?
The bread looks exactly like the one we get at Ya Kun... Where can I get this bread? Ntuc or only at bakery?
We were gonna use the normal sliced bread, but just happened to find these at our neighborhood bakery. Bakeries are probably your best bet.
Pho from Viet Nam🌷
I'll take 50 of those please 🙂
😁
boil egg how long
Recipe is in the link in the description!
Who is coming here after trying vape elfbar flavour of this 😊
Differently form Thai Kaya cuz it's sooooo green XD
🤣 We have very green kaya in 🇸🇬 too!
i thought kaya toast has something to do with srikaya😳
no butter?

You only use "ayam kampung" egg
