You're living the dream of every railroad nerd in history. Your wife and children are on-side and support you. You are a Canadian success story, it is a gift from God. I particularly like how you articulate your original love for train travel with going to see beloved family, equated to a safe passage of travel you felt embraced by. That very feeling is in the hearts and minds of the childhoods of thousands of Canadians, myself included. To have a passenger train in your basement is the equivalent to owning the Canadian Holy Grail. Rock On brother.

Behind everyone of the really successful model railroad companies is at least one or several really passionate individuals that has a commitment that goes far beyond financial interest. Without that interest it's arguable you could never create a model that truly has the charisma to capture the eye of the public.
I've never seen anyone so zany and crazy about railcar underbodies, nor have I ever seen such detailed passenger models; commercial or handbuilt.
This is a nice counterpoint to the regular Rapido videos to see the personal side of Mr. Shron to give us some back story on where his passion comes from, it all seems to circle back to family. Thanks for being yourself.

I've known Jason for quite a number of years, from the extremely formative years of Rapido Trains and I almost packed up and moved from Calgary to work with Jason at Rapido in Toronto. Some days, the decision to stay in Calgary has been questioned, however, the strings of decisions both of us made have led Rapido to being what it is today. This is an absolutely wonderful documentary about the premier guy in the Canadian model train scene. Beautiful photography, great models, and a very interesting subject. I consider myself a very, very lucky guy to have been in the coach, to have met most of the people in the video, and most importantly, to have Jason as a friend.

I don't know the names of the people at other model train companies (besides Mike Wolf, but he's retiring and closing MTH), but Rapido opens themselves up to the community so much that when I'm running one of my RDCs I know the names and the faces of the people who made these. I especially appreciate it when I'm running 6133, which I usually have trailing behind 6205 sort of in parallel to 6133 and 6215 which Rapido saved. And whether Jason knows it or not, he is creating art. From the videos to the box art to the trains themselves, and even his Kingston Sub and the VIA replica in his basement, all of that is spectacular art.

Jason has been a massive inspiration in my life and helping build my imagination. I myself have always loved trains but Jason helped harvest it and got me big time into model trains. My first decent HO scale train was a Rapido LRC locomotive and since then I’ve been crazy over them. As a Canadian modeller Jason has helped all of us with the Canadian models that most big manufacturers forget about. I have a lot of respect for Jason for everything he’s done and I appreciate him putting me on the right track.

I’m so glad that you knew what you wanted and did it. I was wondering if you could film a ride in a train on your favorite route through a side window that would match the view from your train in the basement and then put a monitor outside the window on your car so you could feel like you were moving and viewing the scenery of your favorite route while in your car in your basement.

Hi Jason, It's funny but since the age of 6 I've been fascinated by trains, both model and prototype trains. After receiving my first HO scale trainset as a Christmas present when I was 6, ( that was 53 years ago ) I always thought I'd like to get a job working for a railroad, I never considered making model trains. It took me half of my adult life but I finally got that job working for a railroad, not as an engineer but as a locomotive electrician. Yes I get paid to fix full size locomotives and up until 1 year ago I loved my job. As you're probably aware, Precision Scheduled Railroading has taken over the rail industry. Sadly the name PSR is misleading, PSR is more Lean Manufacturing than Precision Scheduling. Sadly working for the railroad is no longer the dream job it once was, but I'm still fascinated by both model and prototype trains. Thank you Jason for this look at your life. You have created one of the greatest model railroad manufacturing companies in the world and still manage to remain the guy who loves trains. Don't ever change cause yes, you're one of us and you're running a model railroad company. You are living the dream. Cheers, Rich S.

While on the train going through the countryside I made a joke about the scenery looking the same and that perhaps it was really a moving canvas that kept repeating. Now it occurs to me that with flat screen TV's and video footage of your favorite journey you could immerse yourself in various parts of your favorite journey. Somewhat like modern flight simulators for airline and military pilots. Just a crazy thought.

Great Jason, and it is memory's that make our decisions come true. I have a great memory with my dad (who is no longer alive) taking me chasing a sugar train in Fiji and thinking I love that train and especially steam and today I model the ATSF from Chicago to LA through the Raton Mountain to Albuquerque here in New Zealand and in a town called Tokoroa. Thanks for your videos and sharing a personal part of your life - Thanks Kevin
