I am a student learning to play mugham. Faxreddin Muellim was very inspiring and helped me to reach high level of mugham feeling and expression. The credit goes to him if we succeeded to touch peoples' hearts....
sizə nə qədər tərif yağdırsaq -azdır,Allah çalan barmaqlarınızı,segahı duyan və mənimsəyən ürəyinizi var etsin, ruhunuz heç bir zaman qocalmasın,Arvadınıza da minnətdaram...
Thank you for the kind words. Farhad Qardaş inanginən məni ki, Azərbaycanli uşaxlar var yaxşi məndən çalabilirlər. Təbriz Yusubov məsələn, 23 yaş, cox maraqli çalir, mashallah...
Jeffrey Werbock - Allah sizin əlinizə qüvvət versin hörmətli Cefri müəllim! Allah sizə uzun ömür, can sağlığı və xoşbəxlik nəsib eyləsin. Sizin çox həssas Şərqli Ürəyi-niz var... Çox güman ki, siz öz keçmiş həyatınızda Azərbaycanda doğulmuşsunuz. Mənim yadımdadır ki ilk dəfə mən sizi Zeynəb Xanlarovanın hardasa 1989 - 1990 illərdə kobsertində ilk dəfə sizi səhnəyə dəvət olunarkən görmüşdüm. O zaman siz nəinki ifa edirdiniz, həm də oxuyurdunuz. O zaman sizdə Muğama olan məhəbbətin nə qədər güclü olduğunu ilk dəfə görmüşdüm və buna heyran qalmışdım. Bilmək istərdim sizin amerikalılar arasında öz daimi tələbələriniz varmı ki, sizdən bu sənətin sirrlərini dırindən öyrənə bilsinlər?
My aim is to expose westerners to your great art music mugham. It would be nice to live in Azerbaijan where I am well known and appreciated, but my mission is to stay here in USA and continue my life long effort to bring mugham to the west. Thank you for your kind words.
I am trying my best to correct this problem that Azerbaijan and its amazing traditional culture is almost unknown in the western world. Soon I will publish my book about this matter.
Jeffrey Werbock Thank you Jeffrey VƏ VV erbock. . Bravo. .. Çox sağ olun Cefri . Siz bu Azərbaycan milli musiqi alətləriində mahir ifa etdiyinizə görə. .. TƏŞƏKKÜR. .
Thank you for your comment; I will take it as a compliment, that I can play Azerbaijani mugham in a convincing manner acceptable to you and others. I don't have an explanation for my lifelong interest in mugham and Azerbaijani art culture; my grandparents were Ukrainian children when they came to America in 1905; we are Europeans, not Turks, and I think that is what makes this interesting for others.
Thank you for the kind words. I believe what may be interesting here is the fact that I am not Azerbaijani, or Turkish, or Iranian or Middle Eastern, but an American who was amazed by the sound of mugham on kamancha and sacrificed much material comfort to study and learn this incredible music. If I were real Azerbaijani, as your post suggests, I don't think what I play would be very interesting for anyone. What makes it interesting, I think, is that I am not Azerbaijani, not ethnically...
I was lucky to bid on and win an eBay auction for an old Azeri kamancheh (1950's?) a year ago in the United States. It needed some repair work (new bridge, new threaded spike, new strings, new bow, but I persevered and now I am thoroughly enjoying learning (slowly, slowly ... I am self taught) to play this wonderful instrument!!!
thanks a lot, by the time you are the master and not student, your works are so detailed and fine that i always think maybe you are born and raised Azerbaijani, here is your home Jeffrey
Probably from the music stores in Baku where I get my kamanchas, best of luck finding one you like, some of the new ones from Tabriz are pretty good and very good price too.
Farhad, I apologize, I gave you wrong information (what was given to me) regarding the Garib Axshamlar program on Ictimai TV. That was cancelled. However, I did get invited to perform on AzTV on the following Wednesday morning, 10:30am. I hope you were able to see that. Best regards.
My grandparents were Ukrainians, Europeans, not Turks, which is why this should be interesting for you. Meanwhile, there are estimated 30 million Azerbaijanis in the world, and they all don't play this music, so I don't think bloodlines or genetics are involved here, just an interest that can't be easily explained. But thank you for your comment; I will take it as a compliment in that my version of Azerbaijani mugham is acceptable to you and others.

Jeffrey Werbock: Dünya bizi yaxşı tanımır. Çox sağ olun ki, musiqimizi belə təbliğ edirsiniz.
