    Those gold foil pickups sound like something between a humbucker and a single coil. Very nice clarity. Thanks for the demo!

    I'm shopping pickups (specifically a neck pickup)for a 12 string Tele build, so here for research. They sound great clean. I don't know if it's what I'm looking for, but nice. Great looking Strat(ish). Interesting neck. Thanks for the vid.

    Nice honest video about the guitar Fetish guitar body, neck and parts. I bought two of their guitars, one an Xavier 900 and the other a SL 51 Slick gtr., I still had to pay a Luthier 400 dollars to do work on the Slick SL51. They both needed better pickups and neck work. I ended up compromising on the Xavier 900. Instead of Fralin Pickups, I bought some Iron Gear pickups for it, and I had a local guitar/amp repair shop put them in for 75 dollars. The pickups cost $115 + 75 for installation. The neck on the 900 was wonky, but the guy that did the pickup fix was able to get the neck playable by gently hammering down a fret that was sticking up too much. Also my Luthier, put in a Bone nut. It is fun to play now, 200 dollars later + the money I paid for it = around 450 dollars. The Xavier was a Luthier special and so it was priced down to begin with.

    I have the AlNico's and like them. Mainly for sweet distortion. Clean, they are a bit thinner than a single coil. But they can take more gain without sounding fizzy.

    • @dmraco

      I cannot recall the neck pocket specs. I used the GFS and it fit fine. I do not think the pick up routes were a problem. If you see it is, just use a drill to removed a bit of material will the screws go.

    I'd been very curious about the Gold Foils. I've got a PRS SE Single Cut that plays perfectly, but the pickups are just too muddy and little bit weak. I absolutely LOVE GFS products so I've been looking for a good demo. I play a wide range, but mostly 90's rock and hard rock. Am I right in saying that these are hot and clear enough to handle that?

    • @dmraco
      @dmraco  7 лет назад

      I think you would be ok. These are definitely better than some stock models. Not p90 hot but definitely can handle rock tones

    GFS pickups are not original designs. They are common Chinese pickups, that have the GFS logo stamped on them. I have bought these, direct from China for about $12 each. Same with their tuners bridges and electrical components. Everything GFS sells is made in China.
