Hey Brett, for your first project on the lathe I would say you did very well. I'd recommend a dimmer bulb or maybe etch the outside of the glass to dim it a little. Good job! - Brett
Nice Job....But i would put my hand holding the knife right at the tool rest so if it jumps and you try to push it back down it will have somewhere for the knife to hit, on the tool rest. Good Luck
agree on that one ! I tried to do this after watching so many vids on youtube and I always end up like that attempt 1 ?? even worse in fact , I always create the most gorgeous pieces of shattered glass and bottles lol , nice job into my idea , especially if that is your nr 1 !
I find your work very interesting and original, congratulations and continues to create new things. A question; Would you mind sharing details of your bottle cutter? Greetings.
Brett, search for lathes work here on RUclips there are some real Masters and they will teach you step by step you'll gain a wealth of knowledge. If you haven't done this already. And it looks like you did a pretty good job actually so.... If you haven't checked out some of these guys here on RUclips basics of lathes work how to use a lathe tips and tricks you know I just joined your community here supported your Channel I have a how to channel it's mixed up right now I need to stop and create another Channel anyways looking forward to hearing from you Ken
Great idea and well done with the clip i sometimes find these kind of clips far to long and to much straying off the subject. If i was going to make this i think i might make the rebate the bottle fits onto just a bit longer to maybe stop the bottle tipping off when the wife's dusting but maybe the bottle is firm enough with the size you made it.On looking at the finished product IMO i would make the wooden bit a wee bit shorter.Ace project though and thanks very much for the idea
Totally precious ! I adore that lamp because it is not entirely ' gone ' into the project , it still has a raw bottle on it and your wood , which is it ?? love the fact you keep it so natural ! not too much " artsy fartsy '' , simplicity rules ! and that was only your first ? wow , smooth ! just one thing I found a bit annoying was the fact you did not guide us trough the steps , well annoying is not the correct word , because I loved your vid ( I don't give a like for no reason LOL ) but for example if you worked on the lamp itself , I was wondering what you were doing there , like I was asking myself what is that red and why is it , and why is there glue in it etc , so if you do not take offense on this which I hope , you might wanna consider to explain a little bit while you film it ? a bit of a step by step guide ? other than that I really love it ! was gonna try my second turning but my brother accidentally sold the lathe :-((
A larger bottom will be safer to reduce the shake of the wood because u put the wire there...and a simple knock down system to hold the glass in place and replace it any time....believe me...cleaning ruins of breaking glass when the lights out is unpleasant experience...lol... but anyway u did it good man ...
There's no wobble but I would like to know what it would look like with a base, if you end up making one I'd love to see how it turns out, thanks for watching!
Brett Withjack Hey! I used and Edison bulb in my Jack Daniel's lamp! Haha. Jk. You're right. It's your project and your video. Use what you desire! :-)

Hey folks, this is my first ever project on the lathe, let me know what you thought, and how I might be able to improve, thanks for watching!
and it is lovely! thank you for uploading :-)
Came out really neat! If you'd like to incorporate on/off by touch, take a look at a lamp I made several months ago. Cheers!
I would’ve stained it while it was still on the lathe and maybe some thin felt at the bottom but that’s just me. Looks great!
Good. Btw, You can drill with the lathe, buy an MT2 keyless chuck or a collet.
Super dope.
Wow, neatly done. Looks amazing
Thank you!
I thought it was great. A novel idea which would [ no pun .. ] work with all different types of wood and bottles. Thks
thank you!
Nice work - great workshop you seem to have too dude
Very nice Sir

Nice job!
Thanks!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love your work
amazing skill
Parabéns Brett! Sensacional, peça única e belíssima.
Abraços
Doesn't the epoxy get to hot and smell?
Nice Job....But i would put my hand holding the knife right at the tool rest so if it jumps and
you try to push it back down it will have somewhere for the knife to hit, on the tool rest.
Good Luck
Thats very cool! 😎
thanks!
What was the red goop your put over the electrical components? Some kind of wax?
Hey, it's called liquid tape. It's used for occasions like this where you'd like to protect the electrical components but tape isn't an option.
@@Bretts_Builds awesome, thanks. Well done with that project also, I really like that one.
Thanks!
That bottle cutter is Sweeeeeeet. Nice job bro! 0:50
thanks!

Hermoso...me prestás tus herramientas 😜?
Great video but do you have a DIY video on you glass bottle cutter? Thanks.
Thank you! Unfortunately no, it's not a very good product lol. It doesn't always work properly so I didn't publish a video on it.
Thank you.
what glue did you use to put the three pieces of wood together at the start?
great design
Any glue labeled "wood glue" will do the trick. There are many different brands but as long as it's rated for wood, you are good to go!
Professional

Hey thanks! Yeah excellent recommendation. It could use a little more edge to sit on.
i think its right diameter looks good same diameter as bottle but the wood maybe a wee bit high imo
price??
i really like it, it looks so peautefiul, i love it
Thank you!
Kindly checkout my craft channel too
super! j'adore!
Love it!
I like! very Ikea :)
SUPER!!!!
Hi,
do you have a video of making the bottle cutter?
Hey there, I do not, it’s not a very good cutter lol
:) As I done some similar one, but I guess my cutter is no good, as it does not break evenly.
Yeeeeah they hardly ever do. Glass bottles are very temperamental.
Yeah,
thanks for the quick replies BTW. I am really happy that you replied, as many others don't. Thumbs Up.
What was that red stuff you used
Liquid electrical tape. Adds a little extra protection from things touching the terminals.
realy amazing
I like this alot

太棒了!
Nice
Thanks Dave
For the love of god put an Edison bulb or Hue in that thing... make it worth the craftsmanship!
Everyone uses those, I like the one I picked better :)
