The 3rd is likely my favorite. My mother was an orchestral violinist that played in various chamber orchestras. Once, when was a kid she and a group of musicians associated with the college she taught at in Michigan played this entire series. It was done in a huge stone church with amazing acoustics which is, I believe, what Bach intended. I was there for the whole thing.
How lovely that somebody else had a a very similar experience to me with these magical works. About 9 years old I was taken to a concert by my music teacher. One of several (oddly unrelated) pieces on the programme was Brandenburg No3. I don’t know what happened exactly - the first time I’d heard any Bach (knowingly). I fell in love, right there. Quickly got to know the other 5 concertos, the the ones with that name in it it just seemed and then the “Bach Universe” opened up to me. 4 years later the organ found me (my music teacher was a very accomplished organist). Then onwards to the RCM, organ degree and life ever after with JSB. One piece, one evening, one church, one inspirational teacher.,,,, and that has pretty much written my life story. Thank you JSB❤……there’s a reason your seal is tattooed on my left arm. 🙏🙏🙏

Anche a me questo meravigliosi capolavori di Bach mi hanno fatto levitare, volare e sognare. La loro varietà dimostra la genialità di Bach. Centinaia di volte li ho ascoltati e di almeno una ventina di esecuzioni. ( A mio gusto) la esecuzione più bella e di una grazia celestiale è quella dí Leonhart, con strumentisti superlativi. Tutti hanno avuto una carriera concertistica strepitosa ( Bruggen, i fratelli Kuijken, etc.
