@@TaivalOutdoors a lot of the outdoors content on the platform is north american eastern woodlands, coming from coastal Canada it's nice to see evergreen forest/rocky/wet/mossy terrain that really isn't easy to deal with. Very relatable content 👍
That's a tough question! There are so many variables to consider. Personally I have always liked Meindl's boots, the quality is superb and I've found them to be wider as well.
Thanks for the video. Nice to see you still wearing your 5.11 concamo jacket. You must have fixed the zip? I liked it so much I went looking for one but it doesn't seem to made any longer. Pencott green zone seems similar though..
It's by UF PRO, but yeah I contacted them and they sent me a replacement zipper for free. Got it professionally fixed. The camo pattern has faded in the sun quite a lot, but still my favorite jacket 👍
What brand is the dog Harness you are using from? Locking for one with small bags for my Aussie for upcoming hikes. I’m still not sure how much weight he should carry 😂
This one is froma brand called Säker, I joined their Kickstarter campaign and got it for a good price. I believe they've discontinued this model and are now offering something else. Before this, I used Ruffwear Approach backpack, but unfortunately that didn't have removable pouches and was not waterproof like these are. The downside of this Säker harness is its smaller capacity.
@@TaivalOutdoors awesome! Thanks for the answer. I think a small capacity is fine. I have to figure out how much my dog can ore should carry anyway ;) 10 month old, 21 kg, so still some weight to put on.
@@RobertKaltschmitt Yeah just remember to start light, especially since the dog is still growing. I was instructed to wait until the dog was two years old before packing heavy, as malamutes grow so slow! Recommendations are of course different for different breeds. Whatever backpack you end up picking, I'd recommend getting a system where you can also detatch the bags. Better to hang around the camp without the additional weight.
@@TaivalOutdoors Australian Shepherds from what I have read grow to the maximum height really fast. He was already 58-59 cm at about 8 months. But until the bones, ligaments and muscles are fully developed can take up to 3 Years -.- so im going to take it slow. The Säker gear looks awesome ;)
The land of a thousand lakes and a BILLION Mosquitos is how I call summertime Finland. Obviously they were still sleeping during your hike. The dog looks huge with all of his winter undercoat. Is the Poncho a military one?
Yeah the nights were still cold enough that mosquitos weren't a problem. That's also the reason why I don't do much camping during summer 😅 Poncho is from 2GoSystems, not a military model.
Love your videos as usual. Always Nice to see you and your dog in the wilderness. Cheers from a fan in Canada!
Cheers to you too, always amazes me how these simple videos reach folks across the pond.

@@thebeardprevails5246 Hah thanks, there's plenty of that over here! 😁
Incredible episode!! The shots are simply breathtaking each one is more stunning than the last. Which camera and mic do you use?
That's a bit excessive, but thanks 😅 I use mostly just GoPro and fix things in post processing.
Are there bears in Finland?
Yeah, but the population is small and hunted. Only ~2000 bears or so, and some spend their lives in both Russian and Finland.
Great video as always! I’m an American who loves backpacking and always looking for good advice. Any recommendations for a good all weather boot?

How about doing the Hammastunturi again this winter?
How were the bugs there? I camped over at Kekäjärvi last night and was getting eaten alive!!!!
This was early May, nights still too cold and days too windy for mosquitos. I don't doubt the situation has changed by now!
@@TaivalOutdoors Ok! Thank you for responding, I may visit this place next year then, looks amazing!

Oliko Onkimaanjärven laavulla puita?
Ei tullut tarkistettua valitettavasti. Onko siellä ollu polttopuut vähissä? Onhan se aika lähellä parkkipaikkaa.
Absolutely gorgeous episode man, shots are spectacular! Absolutely stunning 👏👏
You're too kind, thanks!
