Ben was so good in 1992 that he could even beat Magnus Carlsen! Magnus was 2 years old at the time, but still.
Frankly, I'm surprised he didn't make that joke in this video ....or perhaps he has already.
Yes definitely still a challenge
He could beat him both in chess and in reality. Go Ben!
😂😂😂😂 The 1984 reference.
Also acceptable is;
“That game was so important that it even made the rain turn purple.
And then a tiny genius made a big movie about it!”
Ben is on the elite category of chess personalities who make me laugh out loud regularly. The line, "he didn't think much of me, because he knew me," was fantastic.
"what about the Nh3 smells" 46:28 haha
@Thoi maisnam Hahaha that bit made me laugh so much! By far the his best line ever lol
Professional version of GM Finegold is still very funny and instructive.
Bit of a pointless lecture here Ben. I'd say most of us here watching are already experts at converting winning positions into completely lost positions. I can even do it blindfolded.
Lmao
Duh. If you’re blindfolded, then only your opponent was **actually** watching the lecture. Explains the results.
Terrible
Very well said 👏 👍
Lol I read the First sentence and was confused at first.
Can't believe I missed you while you were in groningen in 1992. Too bad I wasn't born for another 6 years!
Groeten uit Rotterdam!
I really appreciated the critical thinking exercise of trying to break down exactly *why the position is winning*. Rhetorical questions like this are really helpful for me as a newer player and I hadn't considered this frame of reference before. Thanks for the lecture and all of the educational content.
Is that a hiatus kaiyote profile picture I see? Good choice
@@emmahird2795 not monkeying around
You might want to look into what a rhetorical question is
One of Ben’s best lectures imo
Ben Finegold is the 🐐
Been following his chess since before the internet.
You should teach magnus how to convert losing positions into losses, he's always struggled with that
Those lectures are awesome, you're too good in this format. Go Ben
So every time I improve in chess and rewatch benji's videos .... it's like a whole new lecture. Thanks Ben .... it's a timeless lecture.
Going from "a little fishy" to a little "fishy-Anand" was a great joke.
I played in the bill wright stl open last weekend. I was comfortable in all games but lost two. One was because I missed a move that gave decisive counterplay, and the other, i miscalculated a tactic in a crushing position….so I really needed to hear this advice. Thanks GM Ben
Finally a lecture I'm good at. I have been converting winning positions to losing positions since before you were born.
Love those lectures, hope they keep coming
After all the videos and practice games and training, training, training, converting a won position is my weakest link. Thank you so much for doing this. It's crucial for people like me.
"There's one game where both of us were winning, but not at the same time" made me spit out my coffee.
What I like about Ben is he might make a joke or two, you might even be the punchline in that joke, but he does take you by the hand and make crystal clear the aspect of chess he is teaching - he is a very good chess teacher.
Another good thing generally about Ben's videos is you can watch them now, and then 6 months (or more) when you feel you have improved, you can watch them again and there will be nuances that perhaps you didn't catch the first time.
I think FM Peter Giannatos said about rooks and bishops of opposite colors endgames that, "It's bishop's of opposite color but rooks of the same color" I always think of this in those positions.
I thought I was old being in my 30s, and then I watch this video and remember that Ben was slaying at chess before I was even born.
Thanks Ben!
I started watching Ben back when i didnt know what an opening was lol now Im strong like tree and quick like rock! Ty GM Ben for all ur vids and time! Gl all my chess brothers/sisters
I started listening back a long time ago and just got back into Chess and I’ve only ever been able to learn from Ben!! Keep doing what your doing!!
Great stuff, much needed topic, fun as always
Nice lecture ,great games and stories. Thanks a lot Ben
Yay more lectures!
No one watching is so accomplished that this lesson is not only valuable but essential. Thanks for sharing this Ben.
Big fan of these lectures!
very nice lecture, thank you!
This was a really stellar video
Love it. Thanks Ben
This is one of my favorite lectures yet
Great lecture. Thank you GM Finegold.
I guess this one was the most helpful for me. Thanks, Ben!
Just love your sage advice sprinkled with the humor because I don't play competitive chess. What a mensch!
Loved it Ben! And the chess too! 😅
Keep it up!🎉
Brilliant!
Best endgame against bob fischer! Went Ben!
thanks gm, very good lesson
Best intro music of any chess channel. Good job!
Ben’s such a good teacher when he turns it on. More of this!
Thanks Anonymous. You da real MVP
Loving the tips and appreciate that I'm old enough to understand all your jokes.
Ben is a great lecturer
I love the way you explain things Benjamin. 😉
How does he not have more followers?
Ben is the BEST!
Very funny and instructive.
Great lecture, beautiful games. That rook sacrifice was just plain wonderful, I would have never seen this (but maybe now I would!) Thank, Ben!
How to win an end game, being up a king, with rooks of opposite colour.
Chess in 4k resolution! That's what I'm here for :D
Thanks Ben! The other day i was up +3.5 and i missed an super easy calculation/tactic and lost a piece. I was trying to force an attack instead of just simplify and continue the grind. I was under 10min in a 90+30sec game and my opponent was 600+ my rating. Terrible feeling.
Here after losing on time in some winning positions
Next video, "How to convert a losing position", please do it. 😃
ooh I love the new music
Thanks Ben! I will convert my next winning position into a less pointless hobby!!
Won't we all?
Strong last name…
Is it Ben? Instant like!
Another amazing win against Bobby Fischer. Wow!
Love to see these types of games, Rook sacrifice on H8 is a nice touch.
32:08 made me genuinely laugh out loud
the best teacher of all times
Spot on! In recent days I had three winning positions against guys rated 1500 (I'm barely 1200) and I didn't manage to win or even draw a single one of them...
This are the players named Robert Fischer in FIDE database:
Robert, FRANCE 1363 ELO, BORN 1941
Fischer, Robert USA 1833 ELO BORN 1960
Fischer, Robert GERMANY, 0 ELO BORN 1941
In practice it is the point that you 'realize' that the game is at the place where you should be able to win it, because only then do you start the 'converting' process.
Seriously considering doing a video on converting winning positions into losing positions.
u are a funny man, love it
danke ;)
9.40: "most of you are American?" You underestimate your international audience Ben 🙃
RUclips tells him what countries his viewers are from and in what proportion. Unless you are using a VPN or something
@@AndrewIsbell you mean nord VPN hey hey hey!
I'm Canadian so technically in the Americas...but not an American which makes no sense unless you are American
Terrible, hey I'm indonesian 🖐️
@@AndrewIsbell If it is indeed true that most viewers are American (I said "if"), I am shocked. This sounds unbelievably unlikely.
“I was good in ‘92. In ‘92, I kick yo ass.” lol
Finally! Ninety nine point NEIN thousand subs for Ben!!!
You defeated Robert Fischer!
😂😂😂 I love this guy 👌
When you said "6 hour game" I realized I have to stop playing chess.
26:54 "Always checkmate on f1".
Ben, I think you could shorten that rule to "Always checkmate".
Rawr 100k .. giveaway 1 hour private lesson with Ben ? ;))))))
Covering Winning Positions into what? Into Losing? Thanks Ben, I'm good.
Ben just casually drops a joke about the molecular structure of Ammonia
LOL 46:26 ok Ben finally got me with one of his dumb jokes. For some reason I died laughing at "and it smells!..."
Glad to hear he's started coming up with more jokes finally
i saw rh1 surprisingly
Hi Ben I also need to convert my losing positions.
I saw Qg6 immediately :)
How theatrical it is to say who's Robert Fischer at the end of the game analysis!
Ben Feingold: Between One Fern
" i talked to shaggy it wasn't me " 😭
'I am squeezing and squeezing and squeezing.' - GM Ben Finegold
It would be nice to see Maurice Ashley play Susan Polgar.
Ohhhh. I’m suppose to convert a winning position into a WIN.
I’ve been doing it all wrong.
Those Dad jokes are top notch =)
Always checkmate on f1.
"Boy, did he not stop my counterplay. He let me have all the counterplay I wanted. Too much counterplay! I said here, have some back, I don't know..." - Fen Binegold 2022
“Always flip the board.” ~ben
i love when ben does the poggers face
played in 1888 LOL . Great stuff.
God bless that zehn joke and God bless Ben Finegold
I'm curious how long it took him to notice these concepts during game play. Did he think for a solid 10 minutes?
He offered me a draw on move ten, and since he's German I said "nein!"
And he said "no, it's move ten"
And I said "are you inzehn??"
LOOL
Mr finegold (hort vs porticsh) 1973 has after 26 Rb4 ,Ra7 same mat idea same rock sac 27 R g4!!!!!!!

I definitely can't play like that, so maybe I should pick up teaching.
"fishy anand" is best🤣😂
8:34 Woah i didnt know Ben was a rapper!
You don't know where Robert Fischer is now? Maybe you could find him
