I lost my Harry a few years ago and due to my lifestyle have been travelling for a while,. I now have a permanent residence and missed my little friend so much I decided to give a part of my new home to a few bringers of joy. Your video on building an open policy aviary has made me redesign my home, thanks a lot. My sons are over the moon with Dads new project, crap at construction, but got some buddies who aren't and think I am bonkers will help.I live in Basingstoke and we have a wonderful aviary in our park, brightens up everybody's day.

At least he lived a long and happy life with a very good family, and he had a very decent burial next to a tree, where I'm sure, flowers will grow for him, he will become a beautiful flower in his next life Such is life...some pass away, others are born... It's sad. I've got 22 lovebirds, and I've had more and also budgies...and I wish they lived forever and ever. I wish I died the same day as they do. I wish we all die the same day, because the day my oldest lovebird (9 years old now) passes away, I think I will die, too 😭💔

Found this when looking for diy bird cage ideas. Love the protection for the base of the cage, making easy clean up. Was it a plastic tablecloth or ?? If you wrote what it was, I must have missed it. I'm seriously loving this cage. There's plenty of room for them to move about and lots of things to do.
I made a budgie pirate ship that swings from the ceiling by the mast with ladders toy anchor and sails and a poop deck🤣 I want to show ya! You are so creative though you totally inspired me, This looks amazing and so does your house! Thank you!!

You should have put the wood boards on the inside of the cage, instead of the outside, that way the inside of the cage would be much easier to clean. Regardless the result looks fantastic.

In my research I’ve read that plastic coated wire is not to be used. Only stainless steel or galvanized after welding (only for indoor use as it will rust outside)

Suggestion: don't use cloth / cotton rope / thread /jute ... As budgies may feed on it and it sticks to their stomach .
