Alton towers is my local park (about 40 minutes away), I’ve been going to this park for about 15 years now and I can say that if you know where you’re going and have a plan for which rides you’re doing, you can do the whole park in about 4 hours on a busy day. Make use of the skyline (gondolas) between each section of the park because it cuts 90% of the walking. Also going the popular rides when the park opens in the morning is another way to ensure you get in all the rides. You can check which rides are the most popular by going on the app the day before and swing which have the longest queues (usually Rita, wickerman and the smiler). Most people don’t manage to get on all the rides because they don’t plan on which rides to do first and spend their time walking to each section. Hope this helps someone who’s planning on going for the first time :)
For me it is also kinda local with just 1hr 45mins, nearly everytime I go I go on wicker man first then th13rteen and rita, the smiler oblivion, spinball, air and then nemesis when it reopens
If you do 13 first then Rita then walk over to nemesis and galactica you can do all of them by 11:30 then smilers single rider queue exists and is always less then 15 minutes so you only have to queue for oblivion and spinball which queues will only be 45 minutes max and then do wicker man at the end of the day right before close this also gives you time during the day to do hex duel the mine train and the rapids as well as a flat or 2 if your interested in that
another tip, if you have any kind of mobility issue or mental condition (i have adhd and this worked for me) you can apply for an access thing, that lets you join a ‘virtual queue’ so you can join the queue on your phone, then go do something else. you need documentation, but if you sort it out in advance it makes queueing so much less tedious.
I’m going in 4 days staying the night in the stargazing pod and then the park the next day so we can get there as soon as possible. I’m so excited and it’s for my birthday I’m gonna be a teenager so I’m doing this
Last time I went I got on nemesis 3 times and at the end of the day I got on it again on the front seat and it was the funnest thing I’ve done in my life
you fogot to mension the back first stratagy, gets you on nemi, galactica, rita and thirteen in the first hour and an half, somtimes even rerides one them, if you go to the back first most people take the front rides as there are the easyest to get to, so the queues are low at the back of the park in the start of the day
it’s possible to ride The Smiler, Rita, Th13teen, Galactica and Nemesis all in the first 90 minutes of the day even when it’s busy if you arrive early.
I'm going on my first trip to Alton Towers in 2 weeks. I'm hoping that since the schools will be going back that the queues will be much shorter and I'll be able to have a ride on everything at least once, eventhough I know it'll be much quieter I'm still going to spend 2 days there since even if I get everything done in the first day I'll still want to reride some stuff. I'm booking a room in a travelodge a few miles away because it's so so much cheaper than anything else within a reasonable distance. Oh and I'm also going ot use the app to get an idea of what areas are the busiest when I'm there. Overplanning? Yes! But I want to make the most of it :D
How did you get on? We went with the kids last Fri as it was an jnset day and their school was closed. We waited about 30 mins for wickerman but only 10 for Galactica and no wait for Nemesis. It was the travel between areas that took our time up. Oh and indecisive kids...
luckily im going towards the end of the month i havent been on any coasters i had no clue there was any but now i love coasters i can imagine already oblivion being my favourite
I'm going tomorrow and my dad tried to buy the fastrack but it said it was sold out when buying tickets (it didn't before he bought them only a few minutes before) so now I'm worried I won't get on much
If are interested why don't you do a video about fantasy island the one in the UK there is more then one fantasy island I know a there are a few people that haven't been to the park.
@@ThemeParkTravelTips ok the park is well known for 2 reason it has 2 Vekoma rollercoasters one is the biggest Vekoma SLC in the world but before going check the weather because if it's too windy it can get stuck because fantasy island is a seaside park and the other the millennium.
I have done all the rides in a day without a fast track so if you can’t afford it don’t worry but I use to go like every month when I was younger so I know where I’m going
To all those who get bored easily when queuing, bring a phone and portable charger - my best tip :) For me personally, I am willing to wait up to like 2 and a half hours for Smiler, and like an hour and a half for Oblivion. The Smiler is my favourite ride of all time and Oblivion, yes it's short but what it does, it does fantastically. It really gives me the big buzz. Nemesis and Rita are about the same at like an hour and a half. Wickerman, roughly an hour and 15 maybe 20 minutes. Galactica: an hour. And Th13teen, probably 40 minutes tops. Controversial, I know.
Sorry but this is a video from someone who doesn’t actually know exactly what they’re talking about. There are cheap hotels near by, you can do everything in a day and the sky ride cuts out most of the walking

Thanks for adding. Unfortunately the gondolas were not running when I was there because it was too hot (about 73F).

I’m gonna definitely study the map before I go! Thanks!
You got it! Thanks for being such a loyal TPTT Fan

And a tip. If you are a child or go to school, go just before summer holidays nice and empty
Use the skyride!! So much quicker, depending if the que is big!
And if you get on at the middle station. Make sure you're going the right way!
@@terryd8692 yes haha!!!
@@terryd8692 yep lol, we had that problem and it was the reason we couldnt ride thirteen and rita lol
🙌😃 Using time wisely!
Great video yeah it's a big park and it's closing times don't help they close so early.
I couldn't believe they're hardly ever opened past 5pm!
@@ThemeParkTravelTips summer it has been 6pm and that's too early maybe because I haven't stayed over night at the park before.
Open until 8 pm atm
That’s why I go to scare fest
At least they are trying to get it to 8-9pm closures now and then though!
Last time I went I got on nemesis 3 times and at the end of the day I got on it again on the front seat and it was the funnest thing I’ve done in my life
Last time I went to Alton, the queue for oblivion was SO long I swear it was like 2 hours
Yeah same! I went on the 14th and 15th. It was like 80/90 minutes. Luckily I managed to catch it just after it shut for a 15 min queue
I went on it in like 10 minutes
When I was there I went on it at the end of the day and there was no queue 👍👍
One angry ROBERT xD
Another tip, go in October during scarefest, park is open until around 8 then
Yeah but it's absolutely rammed

If you run with fast pass yes

Alternative to setp 2: get a Ride Access Pass (or two)
Ride Access Tip (RAT)
I went alton towers and got on all the major coasters I fastracked on the smiler and oblivion
If u go atm ques are short as less people
I went a week ago it was half term so it was dead busy
Alton towers is amazing your not wrong
Can you skip lines with a disability card? I use this for parks in the benelux. But parks in germany dont allow it.
me and my friend were lucky because we got front most of the time when we went two months ago
Good Video all points are valid (from a person who has been multiple times)
Are you allowed to take your bags with you on the ride? Or atleast leave it by the employees before you go?
I’ve been looking at the map for ages and i don’t even know if im going yet
luckily im going towards the end of the month i havent been on any coasters i had no clue there was any but now i love coasters i can imagine already oblivion being my favourite
Thirteens worth 2 hours honestly and nemesis
I went not long ago and got on every ride by 2pm without fastracks
Well I went there and I got to go on every ride without fast track and I went on oblivion multiple times
new sub!
Or just go on a weekday during school time where the queues are 5 mins
Currently not true. The times at the moment are about an hour on each ride. Covid regulations etc.
Yeah it’s weird at the moment it’s not usually like that
I'm going tomorrow and my dad tried to buy the fastrack but it said it was sold out when buying tickets (it didn't before he bought them only a few minutes before) so now I'm worried I won't get on much
I go in 3 week I’m staying in the pods .I’m going with my 2 kids so there is no way I can afford 3 fast tracks but we are staying for 2 days
If the monorail went anywhere it would be useful to get around there but we are britain so we dont spend money
Try walking round Disney land Paris for a week my legs r still recovering
Dont they still have a single riders queue ?
nope cuz of covid
They’ve brought them back now
Hey, I went a couple of days after this video was made and the rollercoasters were still open after I left the park which was at 8:30pm
The park opens early and closes late for people staying in the hotels
I got stuck on wickerman for 30 minutes 😩
If are interested why don't you do a video about fantasy island the one in the UK there is more then one fantasy island I know a there are a few people that haven't been to the park.
Hi Ben! I would love to but my rule is I have to visit the park personally to make the video about it. Unless you want to help me out =p

Hours get extended closer to the time. 7/8pm close in school holidays & weekends.....

1:49, huh????
i cant help but say its forbidden valley not forest
My mate and I went just in summer and we still managed to go on every ride, and nemesis and oblivion 5 time each! I guess we just got lucky lmao
