One thing. The butterflies are not a totally new creation from Gunn. They are derived from the comics. They are derived from Queen Bee, a Superman villain. She was an alien who took drones via a sap like fluid.
Perhaps we could get a kinder, gentler Task Force X? The 1st season is about Chris changing through facing his trauma, compassion, community, friendship, etc. Those tools could be used to rehabilitate other Belle Reve inmates and, of course, create space for lots of emotion, comedy and violence.
The show no one wanted became the show everyone loved. Peacemaker should have been dead in The Suicide Squad and then they said wait a minute and here we are. Can’t wait to see season 2. And the cameo of all cameos at the end. Wow!
Thank you guys for all of your hard work. I'm glad Marvel got rid of James Gunn for that little stretch that allowed him to come do some work for DC!!!
My fave character on the show was definitely Lock. He was like a ruthless butterfly before he became a butterfly. Every scene he was in, you felt that sh*t. I would watch a show based on his character alone.
I loved it. Better than any MCU Disney+ show. I loved it wasn't trying to connect to anything, JUST TELL A GREAT STORY!!!!! The cameo was PERFECT!!!! Fit the tone of the show, a joke that has been sat up from the beginning, and just felt naturally. Once again not trying to connect to anything, but the series dove into what makes this Peacemaker as a human being tick. At the end still not a "good" guy, but you saw him trying to improve himself. Season finale 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
On track to be my show of the year so far. It's just so much fun and doesn't need to be anything more. The entire cast worked so well together and it's a great example of what a good director/show runner can do when you just let them off the leash and let them do what they want. And in fairness to Reacher being mentioned at the start that character isn't meant to be emotional. It's kind of his whole thing in the books. He's very much a James Bond type character with no real emotional connections.
Cena has already displayed more range than both The Rock and Batista. Whether he could surpass The Rock as a draw is another matter, but I've been very impressed.
While I agree most of us do not give much credence to John Cena acting skill before Peacemaker, I have to disagree with Shannon ranking Cena below Dave Batista and Dwayne Johnson. Batista and Johnson are fortunate to be cast in major franchises. None of those roles they were cast in demand complexity when it comes to acting. If they were both given the Peacemaker role, I doubt either actor can top Cena take on the character.
Not sure if many would agree, but I want to see Will Smith return as Deadshot. He would probably want revenge on Peacemaker for killing Rick Flag considering that he and Deadshot were right at the end of the first film.
I think the finale was calling out the far left for wanting to control everything in order to save things. I think the convo between Adabayo and Peacemaker in the hospital makes it more clear for me, her saying you saved us from bug overlords and gave us the chance/choice to decide for ourselves. I think honestly Gunn was trying to call out both extremes: the bugs being the far left in wanting to control things for the "supposed" betterment of all, and Peacemaker and his father being the far right, the ones who are all about Freedom but don't necessarily think how their actions might affect the future. Also the reason that Batman and Cyborg weren't there was because Batman was tracking down the other butterfly bases and Cyborg was helping him.
I think the book of boba fett had 40 yrs of history to pack into a few episodes...didnt hurt peacemaker being on hbo max with the cussing, jokes, even the racist element! Love this show the big parllel for me was how peacemaker ended up in the hospital at the end of suicide squad, and hardcourt being there at the end of this show. Shell probably get a spinoff, as Gunn said someone should. Oh and Gunn tweeted thats the last of thae food Chris gave Goff after they blew up the plant and killed the cow.
How many people are gonna say that stuff? Gunn is not a producer and his style won't work with every character, this should be clear and WB got a man in charge since 2019 trying to fix the mess Snyder and other people at Warner Bros. did, guy is called Walter Hamada and the man get's no recogntion hiring all the guys like James Gunn and producing projects like Peacemaker or the 5 DC movies coming this year alone.
Some of Gunns comedy is the same as what was in the Guardians of the Galaxy films! Eagleee is Groot, peacemaker is star lord, hardcourt is Gamora. Vigilante is a similar character to Deadpool. I hope he keeps the 4 minute banter that I hate related to this show because it got old real fast. Suicide Squad had similar comedic moments as Guardians, and it’s getting easier to see! I like Peacemaker show, I just hope he can make DC shows/movies feel different than Marvel more than the R-Rating being the difference because right now it’s just a copy with a slight difference between his movies in Marvel and his movie/show in DC. That ending was of the JL to me was a fail. It was awkward and underwhelming.
Love ya Geek buddies 💙, I swear you guys and heroes reforged are some of the best on RUclips 🐐🐐🐐💯

Goff's days are numbered right? No more cow.
What a wild finale! I can’t wait to hear you guys talk about it!
Loved the finale!! Love hearing you guys review too.

Great introspective review
Loved the show. The writing was superb and the character development was perfect. John Cena proved that he is has more range than the Rock.

Gunn has said it was a fight to get the JLA scene.

Great discussion. Can't wait to see what Amanda Waller is going to do about that certain reveal.

Peacemaker is amazing - what is book of Bobafat?
Everything right about this show is what is wrong with Boba Fett.
1:10:08 ..... Michael's face ..... lol .....
You guys are great!

it is not an overstatement to say the idea of James Gunn becoming like DC's Feige makes me EXTREMELY EXCITED!
