- Join Jaime, Brett, and the Perkins crew and follow along as they finish renovating a 100-year-old house on Main Street in Bryson City North Carolina... 120 Main Street.
We are picking up in the middle of this project, with the commercial storefront already finished over the last year.
This is a very interesting structure, with 140-year-old house that has a brick storefront that was built off of the front to the sidewalk on Main Street. Brett and Jaime decided to keep both portions of the building and make it a multi purpose property, even though it is very interesting looking.
The back part of the property will be turned into a short term rental and will be remodeled using local and re-purposed materials! Jaime and Brett have some cool tricks to make this property look awesome for a very small budget.

The algorithm bringing back classics
As a roofer for 20+ years... I appreciate when someone does it correctly. Good job guys 👍 Jaime, you're an inspiration to us all.
As someone who lives in a brand new house (we are renting) where nothing was done right, I would have really appreciated if the original workers had at least a little bit of skill. Every single door was installed incorrectly. while they opened and close, there were some huge gaps on the back and front doors, the door trim was extremely crooked on them, to the point where they couldn't even be correctly fixed. The second story floor is so bad that when you walk in the master bedroom furniture along the walls moves. The floor is about as lumpy as the back lawn. The painters don't know the first thing about painting, the repairs were done so poorly in some parts that they had to be redone more than once. If I owned this house, I would raise hell, but the owners bought it as a rental, so I don't think they care that much about the "smaller details". I am hoping to buy my own fixer upper in the next few years.
I appreciate you making comments like "hanging it in the center of the building sounds easy but it is more difficult than you may think" and "Jamie is taking extra time to think about the layout because he doesn't hang signs everyday." This is helpful because I think when doing a project, something may sound easy, but it's not always as it sounds. And the very thought "this should be easy" or "this shouldn't take that long" puts added pressure on me (us) and can cause me to rush through it rather than slowing down and taking inventory before doing something. Thanks for your honesty! - Ryan Mandala
Tell this to my wife. Lol
She thinks everything is simple.
That's when I hand her the hammer. Doesn't last long. Lol
For anyone who has never done construction, I just want to say, I have never had more FUN than when I helped my brothers-in-law build houses in San Diego in the late 80's for about 18 mos. when I was out of work. I learned many skills which I now use today as a home owner trying to fix up the old farm house that we now live in in Ohio. These guys are helping me figure out how to solve some of my problems on that house. Love these videos!
Man, Your guys’ work is impeccable! Jamie is a true inspiration to all of us in and out of the trades. Keep up the great work and great content! Aloha from Hawaii🤙🏽
Wanky Tanky Quarantine must be getting to you. Do something constructive maybe 👍🏽
Man I was just thinking that I had to wait till Sunday for an episode! What a nice surprise haha
Coming back to old videos just shows how far they've come on youtube!
Boy the block next to the ladder would have saved me. Broke my back 2 years ago falling off a roof. Gotta say it’s not falling that hurts. It’s the sudden stop at the bottom.
This was still one of the coolest builds , Jaime is super inspired on this
The positivity and optimism you all have is nearly surpassing the educational content of your videos. It is in a seemingly balanced tension, which I hope you can keep going for as long as humanly possible!
I love the channel following all the way from South Africa
Awesome!!! Doing a soffit and fascia job on Monday. Learned more than I thought I knew!!!!Pretty cool timing. Thanks for all the awesome videos!!!!
Nice work..good to see you you are doing well.
Bro that red extention cord needs to go in the trash 🗑 who agrees 👍 with me thumbs 👍 up
9:43 video
Glad to see Jaime figuring out how to work with his hand the way it is now. It’s cool to see these weird projects. They’re always my favorite to work ok

The cordless oscillating tool is So clutch.
Hallelujah! Someone knows how to install drip. You guys are awesome!
Nice sign!
Jamie is the best !!!
Excellent progress, Jamie and crew. Looks great.
Happy to see you can manipulate the drill chuck and lift stuff with your hand. Just carry on and get r done!
Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
Love saving, rehabbing old buildings giving them new life and purpose! PS - Jamie seems to be adjusting to his new hand. ❤️❤️❤️
Keep it up. I’m super interested in all the content about building that y’all are able to put up!

Great looking store front. Nice to see people taking the time on the little details.
Great job fellas, good to see Jamie in action.
What a beautiful place nice job you all!!
Had to do a street view to see the place, it is a lot different than it was, looks great. Thanks for sharing. Charles
that is incredible ... great job gents !!!
Looks good! You are coming along Jamie!
Totally cool... love the videos and how y'all teach, oh and how much i learn!!🙃😉. Blessings
That is one good looking sign ya got there. Yes, I'm serious. It's perfect.
You should put the first joist on top of the wall the way you have it drafted out just attaching it faced to the walls is too heavy to rely on the fastners to hold up securely for any length of time
Yess! This will be great series
Jamie Perkins = Inspiration
Man I have officially watched every video on your channel over the past week. Now what am I supposed to do...
Mark Swaggerty you have officially caught up with the pack! Congratulations 🎊🎈🎉🍾 and relax now. You’ve earned it.
it's so nice to watch one of your videos without 40 ads and 100 sponsors
Further, not farther. Love the positive stop. Your dad looks like a California surfer :-D
Good stuff. Thanks guys.
Man I stayed at Deep Creek campground this July...I hit up some of the fly shops and breweries in town. I wish I could have walked around a little more and caught this. The museum or courthouse thing was also a little sketchy...lots of dudes with guns yelling and screaming...we just went back to camp. Looks sweet though.
The Latter part of the day or the Ladder Part of the day? Lol!
Hello Perkins brothers, I already watched all your videos, I would like if at any time you can make a video about roofs and pissed off, greetings from Argentina!
Love this Channel and I'm a UK Scaffolder
This series is a surprise, but a welcome one nonetheless :)
Progress is lookin good! Were you guys listening to Revis earlier in the video?! Good music and good peeps, makes me want to join the crew!
Lead is great for those areas
Good stuff men.... excellent.
@4:26 one of Jamies best dad jokes ever

Translation: Hey Perkins Brothers! I would like for you to do a video about roofs and trusses. Greetings from
Argentina, I always watch your videos!
Whole lot of ACE in this video
Caulk and paint make a carpenter what he ain't!
Jk, y'all do everything perfect and I use some of the stuff you teach. Thank you
Trim using Azek next time. It will never rott and can be painted
OH MAMA, PLEASE HELP MEE!!!
How do I remember all the tips you give us in the videos? Thanks for all the help, I enjoy the videos.
Stabila Don't Watch, liked the Female Plug end. When you was trimming the facia board.....
I feel like I need a Clampitt t-shirt, too.
7:20 Stabila seen that and just voided your warrenty for abuse.
lol, busted.
After the warranty video they posted stabila will never give these guys a hard time about warranty again.. the bad publicity is NOT worth the price of a new one
This is so satisfying
Coming out fire
Drip edge..
On my current project I noticed the 1x2 (fur strips) under the flashing was most effective.
On the original part of the house they replaced the 1x4 trims (rotted) with 1x4.. first time it rained.. I could watch the water connect from the drip edge to the 1x4 to the roof frame. The side with the 1x2.. this doesnt happen.
Probably going to try yank the 1x4 out.
Just food for thought.
Great work
Glad the guy with the jointer accident is doing well...
You guys should do an episode of not using any tools, just build and caulk it....caulk the whole thing up
Jamie .... can I just say you have the heart of a lion
“Go for a double”. “ no way I can’t void another warranty!”
Love your videos, but time to do more. I've watched everyone of them. Come on...feed me!
And you got to do some face painting as well!
Many would just stay on disability in perpetuity. Still working is great.
🍻🍻👍
What species and grade do you use for the roof fascia boards?
how come you guys dont use harneses with a tie down so nobody falls off
Man I am moving to Tennessee can I come work for you I have over 30 years experience including historical restoration
Jamie if you don't mind me asking what caused your accident
Jamie they let you go the rest of the day with white stuff on your nose....some great buddies you got there....
Yeah really, better check the mirror next time!
Just curious, why was the 1x3 only on the gable ends and not on the horz. overhang ?
It would interfere with the way the gutter brackets will mount. Good question
@@jaimeperkins9606 Didn't think about the gutters. Thanks for answering
11:23 some lunchtime coke residue there Jamie? : )
Who were the 2 persons who gave a thumbs down? What's not to like?
120 main done or why
I mean what
👍💥🔨🎉🍺😁
WTF is that guy doing in the blue at 4:13
and i need to get RJ face on a t-shirt before he shaves his face
Great video but please don't drive and video at the same time.
Struggle is real
Are you guys doing anything for COVID? I don't see any face masks or social distancing.
Snex1337,
China Virus doesn’t come to The BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA‼️
Every Person and ALL The Environment TOO PURE for Virus to live‼️
You got paint on your nose.
Makes me nervous to see Jaime pound nails while holding with his modified hand.
Sometimes it makes me nervous too!
A “top notch” operation like the Perkin boys you may wanna disable and destroy those extension cords. What a shame 😡
what happened to your fingers?
Nice vid, but too much bla bla bla
Jamie, I hate to be the one to inform you but at the last of the video, you some white stuff on your nose!!!! :-)
Ha! Yeah really, it was too late by the time I had already done the filming...
Paint on fingers, nose gets itchy, paint on nose. Been there. 🤬
@@jaimeperkins9606 Oh, it is fine. Comes with the job
Does Jamie have a coke habit? Seems like someone would have told him he had something on his face. Not only did his brother let it go but dad was there too. Those jokers will be snickering about that for a long time to come.
