One great feature is you can pack units into an Army Commander, then pack that Army Commander into a Fleet Commander to transport your army overseas
The nice thing about commanders is that, with careful planning and logistics, you can keep a front alive by constantly feeding the commander with troops.
It’s hard for me to do anything other than pick the first point of assault and then the second pick into the first bonus in maneuver. This lets your units pack into a commander, then they can move four or five spaces (depending on the age) without terrain penalties, and then unpack and attack. It’s crazy how powerful that mobility is.
I do this every single time. It's so strong it's a no-brainer
The commanders are my favourite iteration of Civ 7. I'm having so much fun with them.
Thanks VB. Helpful. Learned how to unpack individual units. In Exploration now and working to get that fleet commander!
Good stuff! Thanks VB.
Should be a guide on how to use the UI....
Awesome, really important topic for Civ 7! Thank you so much.
Love your Civ VII new game feature introductions - they are extremely good, VB! This one was sorely needed as I was struggling with the concept yesterday, it ended in a complete mess for me and I couldn't even figure out how to attach with a warrior from within the Arme Commander. I assume that unit had no more movement left.
6:00 Extremely pedantic nitpick: The commander bonus is Rout, on the bottom. Determined is the narrative event bonus.
Very helpful; question: go for Discipline first even if you have yet to build an early unit? Scout, Scout, granary, warrior, warrior, is my usual build order. Early Pantheon > Empty Commander?
Pantheon > Commander > Racials has been my civics priorities so far. Tactics 3rd for terracotta rush can be a play also, experience can be so influential. 1 warrior to be available when get 1st commander, to chip away xp on agressive neutrals before they're befriended.(often buy with gold)
Love your videos! Very helpful! Re the Legatus - how frequently can they create a town and where should I have looked to find that type info in the game?
I believe they can create a town for every 3 promotions. So once they get 3 nodes unlocked they can put down a down. 6 they get a second, etc.
Can also build an extra commander(or the glorious wonder), attack just a couple of times for one promotion, give them zeal in the leadership tree then park them in the capital for 5% bonus the rest of game. Worth the long term investment and can be deployed for clutch defenses.
Nothing goes past 1 point movement and 1 point in move after deploy for combat generals. Too brokenly good to take anything else.
Thanks again, Deep Dive on any area of the game is what I would prefer to see. If you could prioritize the area of Civ 7 top 3 impactful "things" and do a Deep Dive it would be extremely helpful for me.
Can army commanders stack? Could I have two commanders stand next to each other and both gain XP from the same set of combats
Good question
One thing I noticed, and I’m curious if I’m just missing something, but if I want to upgrade the units in the army, I have to click the commander, click the unit, click upgrade, and then the game takes me out of the commander’s screen, so I have to go through that process with all the units. Am I missing something? Is there actually a quick way to upgrade all, and I’m just missing it? Because that is actually horrible Firaxis. Horrible.
Overbuilding and adjacency.
- why overbuild on legacy building vs adding additional building type in city
Merchant/ trade
What's the chain icon for next to his city and how to remove it. I am having issues figuring this out... Can anyone help?
Please tell more about crisis policies.
the AI is still terrible?
unfortunetly yes. I think is even more stoopieed than civ6. this way game have no sense. only building and building is nou sense. if AI will not change then You will not have any opponents even if You will have war with everybody in same time
