Drawing a train! Classic WAP-1 locomotive in WAP-4 avatar with Shatabdi express! Indian Railways

This video features time-lapse sketching of one of the most successful locomotive of Indian Railways, the WAP-1 locomotive (of Arrakonam shed) hauling the prestigious Shatabdi express (here - Mysuru Chennai Central shatabdi). Though, here WAP-1 is sporting a WAP-4 livery (not the traditional WAP-1 livery).
The Indian locomotive class WAP-4 is a class of 25 kV AC electric locomotives that was developed in 1993 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works for Indian Railways. The model name stands for broad gauge (W), AC Current (A), Passenger traffic (P) engine, 4th generation (4). They entered service in late 1994. A total of 773 WAP-4 were built at CLW between 1993 and 2015, which made them the most numerous class of mainline electric passenger locomotive until the WAP-7. The locomotive was developed after its predecessor, the WAP-1, was found inadequate to haul the longer, heavier express trains (24-26 coaches) that were becoming the mainstay of the Indian Railways network. Shatabdi Express trains are a series of fast (called superfast in India) passenger trains operated by Indian Railways to connect Metro cities with other Major cities for tourism, pilgrimage & business purposes. Shatabdi Express are day-trains and they return to the station of origin the same day. The name "Shatabdi" means centenary in Sanskrit. The first Shatabdi Express train was introduced on 10 July 1988, by then Railways Minister Madhavrao Scindia to commemorate the birth centenary of Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India, between New Delhi and Gwalior Junction. It was later extended to Jhansi Junction and then to Bhopal Junction. Its terminal station in Bhopal was subsequently moved from Bhopal Junction to Habibganj. [en.wikipedia.o...]
