The thillana starts on the last beat - you can verify with Semmangudi video. Not as sung in this video. This video is misleading and you can just use audio, without seeing the video.

Namaste .Your observation about Sri Semmangudi's video is correct .I used to sing this starting on the last beat too.Then , later , I referred to the book 'Compositions of Vainika Shikhamani Veena Seshanna ' edited by Sri B.K.Padmanabha Rao , Sri H.Yoganarasimham and Sri R.N.Doreswamy , published by Sangeetha Kalabhivardhini Sabha , Mysore, in 1965.This book states that the Thillana starts on the little finger.Hence , I now sing it startingon the little finger.
