    Since covid came on the seen I've been preparing my body to deal with the eventuality of catching it, nightly humming and nasal breaths with 90 second holds. I've gone from 30 second breath holds to 2 minutes. Currently have the delta variant and having no breathing problems, I account this to my daily lung workouts and the vaccine, definitely the vaccine!

    I love that humming together with you! My humming is a bit longer, perhaps because I push my belly out. I learned that exercise from my musicteacher. It helps to hold the note. Later I learned that we naturally hum to ground or to connect to ourselves or to the source. My tomcat loves that humming 😉. Btw humming helps to heal too.

      I've found singing ( vibration trough sound) also beneficial.

    • @carlosr.villanueva7714
      @carlosr.villanueva7714 3 года назад +25

      Vibration changes the sedimentation of fluids, making them more homogeneous. If a fluid is more homogeneous, it's easier to pour and go through crevasses. This is why you should vibrate concrete when it's pour into a mold, for example.
      This principle extrapolated to you sinus cavities, means the vibration you are generating through humming, makes the mucus fluid much easier you move, therefore it gets better redistributed.

      James Nestor's (amazing) book Breath has an exercise where you exhale for as long as possible to strengthen the diaphragm. The idea is to count to ten over and over out loud as you exhale, doing it to the point where it becomes uncomfortable. This is something he did with an experienced practitioner who spent some time kneading his ribs and diaphragm to free them up beforehand, but I just did it myself and it worked well and felt great. The strong suggestion is that exhalation is actually much more important overall than inhalation (though obviously you can't have one without the other).
