I risked buying one of these a few weeks ago after reading about the problems people have with them, as I have a huge area that I need watering. I noticed when first used that the spray arms were not moving freely, so I let it run for a couple of hours to see if it would free up, but it slowed down and was making a squeaking noise. I removed the grey rotating tube that the spray arms screw into using an allen key on the brass tube inside, removed the circlip holding it together and discovered that the oring on the brass tubing had been rubbing into the plastic tubing, eroding a groove in the plastic, but also eroding the oring. It had made a thick sticky black paste with the grease and was binding everything up badly. After thoroughly cleaning all parts and removing the offending oring, I put it back into service and it has run properly without a problem ever since. A small amount of water leaks from the bottom, but who cares, its a sprinkler! It does a fantastic job and easily pulls my 30 meter hose around, and covers around 9m per hour.
I have two of these now and while I am generally quite happy with them (in my experience they perform better than the orange plastic Pope ones) they both have the same fault which is that sometimes when I turn the water on the black plastic t-piece that the spray arms attach to will pop up by maybe 5 or 10mm and then the arms won't rotate, they just sit there squirting the water on to the same spot. To fix it I have to turn the water off, press the t-piece back down in to place and then turn the water back on very very slowly then sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I have contacted Holman in the hope of getting some advice but all they offered was that I can buy a new 'motor' to replace mine if I want to - for almost the cost of a whole new sprinkler. A bit frustrating but still cheaper than installing a pop up system so I guess I'll persevere with them for a while longer... If somebody from Holman is reading this and know how to fix the problem please let me know because I'd rather not throw my two x hundred plus dollar sprinklers away.
Hi Bryan, Thanks so much for your feedback. We will be able to provide this as a spare part in the coming weeks, which will hopefully solve this issue. Please keep an eye out for it on our website.
How sadly disappointing this water tractor is. Bought one today from Bunnings, along with a lovely new hose, assembled as per the video - it works for about 20 seconds, then the top pops off and water spurts up.. had a go at re-assembling, then the water just gushed out the base. Re-watched, re-read the instructions, can't find any fault with our assembly. Spent an hour driving back to Bunnings to exchange it. Now this evening, the new one does actually work as a sprinkler - that bit works really well - but it doesn't move forwards. Upon close inspection, the rear wheels are locked in "high" gear and in "low" gear but they roll freely in neutral. .. which just isn't what the instructions say. Unfortunately, the whole thing doesn't actually roll forwards, which defeats the purpose. So it's a very fancy, $7 sprinkler. So tomorrow, it's back to Bunnings (another hour gone) to try to ask for a refund. So I'm left really wanting one of these to actually work, but now convinced that for Holman quality control isn't a thing😞
Hi Lyn, Thank you for getting in touch with us. The tractor can be set to 'reverse' when the arms are set backwards - you need the spray arms set as per the first picture (image below) for forwards movement: You can also find this diagram on page 4 of your instruction manual. Let me know if you need further assistance, we're happy to help where we can.
Can't wait to get mine! I love the old tractor look and the fact it's mostly metal, keep up the awesome work.

@@holmanindustries I just bought one today and it has this fault out of the box…
I think these are a great idea but it’s unfortunate the ‘solid metal’ components don’t extend to the parts that really count like the gears

Thank you 😊
How many millilitres has this been tested to provide inside its watering area?
They only answer if you complain. Add a complaint to your post and we'll get an answer.
Mine sux,i can’t get it to spin fast. It takes about 5 seconds to spin once..
Same…. It doesn’t move either. I got mine today. What did you do with yours?
Mine won’t move. Watched video so many times :(
Did you watch the part that explained what the neutral was?

I have one and it runs shortly on H but then stops and keeps clicking. Sounds like a gear issue.
