Brilliant review -as ever Richard. Glad the folks at Guitarist have brought back your in-depth review/demo. The quality of your comments / observation add so much more value to the presentation. Simply excellent. Long may these continue! Ky
Pity we couldn't hear the pickups played cleanly, but at least now I have a good idea of how they'll sound as long as I'm using your particular gain structure. Whatever that was.
I don't have to go out and buy PTFE tape (or plumber's tape as Richard puts it) for the normal threaded Strat trem arm! I already have a huge stack of the damn things!!!
You said that the pickup footprint is not standard. Does that mean that it is impossible to change the pickups to 3rd party pickups? That would be a bummer.
I feel the design has potential, but to be honest regardless the pickup position, the guitar sounded very bright, even muddy at times. And it’s not just in this video.
The parallel switching on the bridge humbucker is an excellent idea. Gives a single coil like tone with no hum. So much better than a coil tap, which is a compromise at best. I love Richard, killer player and such a gentleman. But this guitar sounds oridinary. Most pickup selections sound lack lustre. Just my view.... I would never buy a PRS HSS Strat like guitar anyway. Its not a PRS to me. So many better sounding HSS options out there.
@@rickyricardo9917 Depends on your budget really, and what kind of music you play. At the pointy end, the Yamaha Pacifica 612 is a great value option. Duncans, Wilkinson trem, Graphtech nut and string trees, its well speced. Sounds and plays fantastic. Charvel is a more hard rock option but there's various models of DK24 and San Dimas body shapes. Duncans again mostly. They're killer. Ibanez AZ Premium great option. Fat neck, but a stiff feel with the factory 10s. Great quality guitar though. You could go really dear and get a Custom Shop Fender or a Suhr, but the Fender Professional 2 HSS is one of the best guitars I've played. Great feel and tone at a reasonable price. HSS Strats cover alot of ground. They're pretty damn versatile
The palest fretboard on earth ruins it for me, although it works best with this white model. SE version with darker fretboard (maybe roasted maple or even rosewood) would be a dream.

@@dragongamer4753 Thanks....those measurements have it as larger than US standard strat. I prefer a chunkier neck but definitely not a V shaped neck. Nice looking guitar. Will try one when I get a chance.
I think the John Mayer model kind of did that. Although once you play one… the necks feel not like a typical Fender profile or radius but has a character of its own.
Brillant: PRS is lucky to have you demo this guitar ! 🎶🎵👍🏻

Always a great review, playing, and tone!
Monstrous playing from Richard , as always
My Fioré just arrived and I can’t wait to break it in!
Congrats!!!
How long did you have to wait?
@@JuanLuna-ew3zo I was supposed to get it in May and it got pushed back to July
@@dpetersgtr When did you order it originally?
Killer tones. Great demo.
Wish you would have demoed this without any distortion.
Great demo review!
Definitely going to get this,

I've been told these are landing in the UK in September. (Guitarguitar asked their PRS UK supplier when I inquired)
Looks very nice.
Aren’t those single pickups on the bright side sonically vs hot Fender ones ?

wow i want that

very nice in depth explanation but the crunchy dark amp sound didn't make her justice. we want the SE treatment!

Bright and muddy?
@@muse-mech-moda too high pitch, squeaky.
That guitar sounds great in your hands!. What did you use for overdrive/Amp?
Looks like a Kemper
It was a Kemper. Good piece of kit but so many options, I’m afraid I can’t remember what amp model it was!
@@richardbarrettguitar1228 A response means a lot. Thanks

A few hundred quid more gets you an HSS Eggle 96… buy British!
Do know how much it weighs
This thing is light. Less than 8 pounds for sure. But it's lighter than a standard fender strat for sure.
@@slickcrossnot true. They can range from just under 7 lbs to almost 9 lbs. Mine is 8.4
@gch910 Ya mine weighs in at 8lbs on the money. 7 would of been nicer haha

I think it looks good. Roasted anything just adds to the price of a SE model.
I like it but wouldn’t be against a slightly tinted lacquer finish. I hate roasted maple.

Medium crunch! No idea what he guitar sounds like clean, but the kemper sounded nice.
No mention of the one thing that I can tell whether I'm going to like a guitar or not within seconds of picking it up.....the neck shape.
I got to play one last week, Its about the same as a silver sky, maybe slightly thinner.

It's narrower than most PRS necks, actually
single coils should've been white covers
Ooh look! Paul Reed Smith just invented the strat. Well done 👏

Not exactly a clean tone?....otherwise a great demo
It wasn’t was it? I’ll monitor myself a bit louder next time 😆
