Good fun for not a lot of money for ammunition. These springs are "hold sensitive' in other words do not hold the forestock tightly as you would for most power burning rifles. The springer has a 'two-way' recoil,..forward and back, so just let it ride and your shots will be considerable more accurate. Try it and see.
Absolutely true. Hold is really different than powder guns. I have a 22 cal Rugar similar to this one and it took me a bit to figure that out n get used to it. Mines a springer and I think the gas pistons have the same thing going on.
The Ruger Airhawk 177 is a good little rifle. I've had 1 for 12 years and it is great for squirrel, rabbit, opposum and raccoon. It took about 500 rounds to break in and hit peak accuracy. It really likes the Crossman Destroyers. They fly accurate like a wad cutter, hit like a hollow point and penetrate like a field point.

I have a wood-stock Stoeger X10 in .177 that I love to shoot. It isn't the most powerful air rifle out there, but it's very solid and has a pretty smooth action.
I bought myself an airhawk .177 kit. I use Crosman Premier 7.4gr round heads and pointed pellets in mine. Very accurate at 30feet. Minute of eyeball on pests. Scope marginal, but useable at those distances. I prefer to put a Bushnell springer rated scope on it in the near future. I recommend using Alchemy AirWerks 100% Silicon chamber lube. About 1 drop every 250 - 500 shots right into the chamber, let sit for about an hour then go ahead and use your rifle. Thanks for sharing the video.
@@joshuagibson2520 I use those pellets to along with the crosman hollow points. For precision shooting and hunting I use H&N barracuda power 10.65 grain .177 pellets. Also Winchester brand of pellets is pretty close second to the barracuda power pellets in accuracy.
Looks like both sights are mounted to the barrel on that one, that should make it more accurate than the ones with the rear sight mounted on the back. I've got my share of firearms, but I still enjoy air guns too. I can't afford one, but I read about some that they actually deer hunt with. If I remember right, they work off of big compressed air or co2 tanks.
The big bores typically use an air tank built into the rifle. PCB. You can use an air compressor/transfer tank or a hand pump to pump em up. They fill to 2500 to 3000psi. ( lot of handpumping if you go that way.) They come in 22, 25, 357, 50 cal. Possibly more but these are the popular ones I know of. The Sam Yang dragon claw, I think it is, uses 50 cal or bolts similar to those for a crossbow. That's pretty nasty. A few companies are modding, tuning them too. There's a whole nuther world of shooting options with these things now. Check out some Sam Yang vids here. These new air guns are no joke.
I didn’t even know that Ruger manufactured air guns. I have a BEEMAN P1 MAGNUM spring piston air pistol chambered in .177 cal. that I purchased back in 1987. It is a dual power range air gun, 400 FPS half cocked and 600 FPS fully cocked. I don’t have a chronograph, however it does have very impressive penetration and velocity’s at either power ranges. I never did get around to purchasing a BEEMAN rifle, though. Maybe some day as I still have several tins of BEEMAN pellets and two BEEMAN pellseat’s for seating the pellets in the chamber, and numerous other BEEMAN accessories. That Ruger air rifle you have here looks very interesting also!! Thanks for showing this one!!👍👍
Ruger does not make, or sell, air guns. These guns are made in China. They just have a deal to use the Ruger name. Same for Remington and Winchester air rifles. I suspect it is the same for Sig, but I don't know.
Should have got a Benjamin NP. I have a .22 and an XL725 that's .25 Cal. The nitrogen pistons are way more quiet. And smoother. Plus you can leave them cocked. Springers it's bad for.
Can you chronograph that when you diesel it? Diesel, meaning put some chapstick in the pellet base, turns it into a combustion engine ad adds a few FPS!
Try shimming the breech seal. I used a piece of teflon tape twisted and made into a little ring between the seal and the barrel. They sell a kit for 13 bucks but you could get a washer for 10 cents
I bought the same rifle a couple of years back. I thought it would be more accurate. I shot it some, then cleaned the barrel. It still is not as accurate as I would like. I think I also tried different pellet weights, to no success. I need to get it another try. Right now I keep the squirrels at bay using the trusty ole Daisy Red Ryder.
I learned an interesting way to get about 200 fps on air rifle pellets. I experimented with a dab of vapor rub in back and it worked. It diesels the vapor rub and you get extra POP. You do have to clean up the extra fouling though every 40-50 shots. My patches come out black. As alway love the videos .. Keep em coming.
I have a Gamo 177 caliber pellet rifle and it is pretty quiet works well for me but I have some targets designed for pellet rifles and they're a little bit more reactive shooting that heavy AR500 steel doesn't move much with a pellet gun.
