I live in Alachua, Florida and 99% of our storms come from the gulf. A few weeks ago we received the same warning message. It was a calm day then things escalated rapidly. Crazy to see others experience the same thing as we did so far away. I’m curious to know if it was the same weather system. Glad y’all are safe.

I saw the storm on the radar in your area.
    I'm glad you are okay
I was scared there for a minute when you were putting the bbq grill back on the deck.
I saw your dog laying upside down and thought oh no the storm got the dog until I saw him move..😊
It is nice to live near family.
My maternal grandparents had over a hundred acres in Tennessee.
Eight of their children ending up building on the property. Now several of the grandchildren live there too.
They started their own subdivision I guess 😊
It was cute seeing Ladly with her collection of frogs.
As always wishing you the best.
Anxious to see that beam installed😊

I was stationed in NOLA a few years after Katrina and lived in Algiers during those 18 months. I helped develop quite a bit of the unit's new emergency plan and would be one of those tasked to implement it in an event so I can absolutely appreciate the idea of gross-over-engineering.

Good morning Lydia and Jim!! I was glad to see y'all and then you started to explain the storm event. I was releaved to see it didn't do a lot of damage, save Ladly's play set which is sad, or hours leaks. When Jim was pumping out the boat in a couple of the scenes I thought I saw a twinkle in his eye that seemed consistent with exactly what I was thinking already. Then there was the scene shot from behind focusing on the water in front of him. I was laughing out loud and then he turned around and whle not really dwelling on it, the scene was like an easter egg reward for those who were really paying attention. I kept on chuckling to myslef 😁Lydia, you did a great job with shooting the random scenes and editing it all together into a very enjoyable vid. I especially want to say kudos for the music selection, it was on point! So I don't forget, you also always do such a nice job with Ladly's hair and outfits. Near the start with her braids and cute little outfit with the bucket and all; she was just so cute. I"m always amazed when I see braids done in that way. I agree about the convenience of family living in such a close radius how nice would be. Jim. I totally agree with your approach to design and construction. If you're going to do it, you might as well do it well. I take the same approach and would much rather make it an overkill initially, than wish I would have later on when it doesn't stand up. I like your thoughts on and engineered approach to providing the support for the upper containers on the project. Kudos on the approach and design for this. I loved the comments at the end you both made about all the Hootises that could come out of the Hootis Mfg Facility - you two really made me laught with that one 😂 Have a great week and I look forward to seeing y'all again next time. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

I live in what was known as "The Cape of Storms" back in the days of sailboats.
You have probably heard of Cape Town, South Africa...
Here, whenever someone tells you that their new structure is "strong enough", the next big storm system that comes through says "HOLD MY BEER" and sometimes that "strong enough" structure winds up in the next property or sometimes, even the next suburb. Or pieces of it anyway...
Glad to hear that you believe in making things at least 3 times stronger than any "normal" person would expect.
I have a feeling that you have seen with your own eyes what CAN happen.

I see a new "contest" in our future, "Guess how many hootises we made from the scrap iron pile". As for me, personally I'm just glad the tractor and boat made it through the storm. Those are two things we men can't survive without!😁 Also, we love Lad's "work outfit"🥰.

That’s why when I built my house, I add extra bracing in the attic, in the wall corners and just the overall structure! I used to live in Big Lake on the island, right on the water where the flood waters come up and the wind is the worse! I didn’t stay long before I had enough of flooding in salt water! Build my house in 1984 and it’s 3 feet above the center of the road to the top of my slab! Haven’t flooded yet and hopefully I won’t!
