Thank you, she was one of the smartest, kindest and funniest women I have ever known. I feel so blessed that she was my mom. She gave so much too so many. It is unbelievable to me she is gone.
Lauren, I know you miss your Mom......I miss mine also. What Shines in your Video, what a Wonderful Mom you are.....It's a tribute to her everyday! Hugs from Golden, Colorado:)
Not sure if you already watch Tiffani Beaston or not but her & her hubby are both GF & that’s the only recipes she makes on her channel! Would definitely be worth a gander❤❤ you’re doin SO great mama!!
Yes I highly recommend Tiffani..Jovial pasta and Raos pasta sauce is also gluten free that I use and Tiffani uses .I too am gluten free There's another RUclipsr Tiffani follows that's a nutritionist that has alot of GF recipes her name is Jessica Spiers. Highly recommend her I not only use gf flour but 8 also use almond , coconut, rice flours And coconut sugar, stevia and eryithol sugar and nutritional yeast which is a must have, and coconut aminos which takes place of soy sauce..
Lauren another thing Ive learned since going gluten free and dairy free 10 yrs ago is that you don't have to give up your old go to recipes all you've got to do is just use gluten free ingredients, plant based, I use dairy free, it's not hard to transition into..
I’ve been gluten free with celiac for 14 years now. Welcome to the club. It’s a very exclusive and expensive club😂 King Arthur flour is the best flour hand down! Sometimes they sell it in bulk at Costco. Amazon is a great too to get a better deal. When you are baking I always add an extra egg and it makes it fluffier. Put all your GF bread in the fridge because it will go bad faster. When you go out to eat look online for Gluten free options first you will save yourself a lot of grief. SOY SAUCE has flour and a lot of it by the way. Trader Joe’s has the best GF muffins ever! On the back of the king author all purpose flour package it has a great chocolate chip cookie recipe. My personal favorite.
I so love your reset videos, Lauren!! The tortoise shell glasses look beautiful on you!!. I absolutely live for your videos every time you post one, I am so giddy and happy to watch❤️🙏🏻
I agree about Tiffani. She has great gf suggestions. Oh my, your channel is us so soothing. I can feel my blood pressure drop and entire body relaxes, but also energizes to get things done. 🤗
Hi! I watch Scandish Home. She has a RUclips channel and a website with all her GF recipes. She’s perfected a bread recipe and slices it up at home. You may need to invest in a bread machine and slicer if you don’t already have one ❤
Plant based burgers or any soy based substitutes are fantastic to eat and really fill you up. Give them a whirl if you haven't done so already. Soy food with a boiled egg is also a great filler.
You can go to the customer service area at whole foods and ask for the printable of the GF products they carry. That was helpful. But over all yes the store is overwhelming as you are new to all this and learning. A fellow youtuber Tiffani at beauty and the beastones are a gf family. All of her recipes are TOP NOTCH! Good luck! You got this mama.
I have a gluten intolerance as well, its been 5 years and its a lot easierto find products now. And best yet! No more rashes, joint pain & inflammation.
I was diagnosed with celiac disease as well as my younger sister and my mom my senior year of high school and it is really challenging navigating grocery stores, but it has gotten a lot easier. Best piece of advice I can offer is to meet with a dietician who specializes in gluten allergies because it’s not just wheat, it’s malt, barley, rye, soy, and so many other sneaky ingredients (like the teriyaki sauce probably wasn’t GF). I know it’s overwhelming, but you get really good at reading labels quickly once you know what to look for. Best of luck!
Einkorn is a great alternative to wheat, its another type of grain. My friend doesnt so well with wheat bi is fine with einkorn. After several years of being nomads, we finally have our own home again and are getting our garden ready!😊im already starting some seeds indoors and cant wait
It is so calming to watch you prep and cook. You make it look so easy and stress free. I am trying to eat healthier since I've had some health issues and also need to drop weight. I like eating healthy, but tend to lose motivation. You are such a good mom and wife. I love how you take care of your family.
I had to go gluten-free for health issues a few years ago. You'll find the things you like the best, and then it will become easy. It forced me to eat healthier.
I went GF a few years ago and like you I didn’t know much. I get a lot of inspo from Tiffani Beaston here on YT. The hardest part of GF is bread 😂. My fave is from Trader Joe’s. I have heard most GF folks can handle sourdough. I plan on trying it from a farmers market though.
Thinking of your little one and your family as you adjust to a new diet. As ab allergy mom, i also want to recognize you in this journey and the hard work you're putting in! ❤
Oh! I DO feel your pain, so to speak, as my two youngest sons were found to be wheat intolerant, caused asthma and severe eczema, and I had to completely change how I cooked and how we snacked too. It wasn't gluten intolerance for them, but oh dear lawd trying to find ANYTHING without wheat was a nightmare at first. I learned though. Reading packages like I was a detective looking for a hidden clue. We eat only organic, for the majority, but changing our diet actually helped us go one step further towards a better diet and health. I even learned to make flourless cakes! My son's are now in their 20s and pretty much, mostly, outgrew the wheat intolerance but we keep all in check still. I know I always write a book as a comment, but that is just how I am. Wordy😂 I will cheer you on as you progress on this journey as I know the path well. Sincerely, Millie
Love the glasses! I’m looking for a new pair to buy. Where do you buy your containers for your food prep that you just did? Especially where you put your veggies and kale?
My best friend has celiac so for every party we have we were gluten free as well, you get used to it but there is an app called gluten free scanner. You just scan the barcode on the item and it tells you if it’s gluten free or not
Every grocery store either has a gluten free section or each isle will have a section for gluten free. I have been Celiac for years and I don't buy everything certified gluten free. I make sure there is no wheat, barley and rye I also, make sure it's not made in facility that has those three things. It hasn't messed with my stomach. Certified Gluten free products can get very pricy very fast. I hope this is helpful! It is very overwhelming a first.
Loved this video! Always enjoy chickens, kitties and food prep but am really interested to follow your gluten free journey. We are not intolerant but are trying to include a minimum of gluten just for better gut health.
Hi! I don’t know how it is In USA, but I’m celiac (ARGENTINA) and I have to take care of the utensils I use. Can’t contaminate with other foods that have wheet. Then is easy to eat. Good luck❤
I love you chook set up. What plants are in there that survive chickens? Also do you not get foxes where you are? (Would have thought foxes can get through the mesh size you have?) Currently building a new coop!
Your vids only get better over time❤ I hope you have an affiliate link for all the fridge storage that you use! The food prep containers etc.. those are wicked sexy glasses too, lady!
Hey, Lauren! I love your channel and never miss one! Where could I get your corn salad recipe? It looks delicious!! Thank you for sharing your life with us!!
Going gluten free can seem over whelming at first but you will see there are so many good products out there. Gluten free household here for 15 years. Favorite pasta is Jovial and favorite bread is canyon house! Thrive has a lot of gluten free options.
You are such a sweet family to all support your child in the GF journey. One of the worst things about having to cut something out of your diet is feeling like you’re missing out while everyone around you is enjoying what you can’t have. It’s going to be so helpful and supportive to them. I’ve also had to cut out gluten, in addition to dairy and eggs. It has helped me a lot. It is a lot to learn so you’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed! I also wanted to add that I have been really loving the soft music you’ve added to your recent videos. It’s so peaceful and calming watching you cook while listening to the calm music. Loving it ❤
Thank you so much! I wanted to add something calming. We just finished a full week of GF food and the kids all preferred the GF foods.. I just wish they weren't so expensive! My goodnessss healthy food should be the most available and affordable to people.
I'm probably ceoliac but can't be tested but I wouldn't inflict gluten free on my family. I bake for them but can't eat it. Over in the US there's more variety of gluten free foods, even flour. I make a fab red velvet cake, made with gluten free flour and barely knew the difference but next time it went in the bin. They obviously changed the gluten free flours and was terrible. It is awful missing out!
@LaurenNicholsen yous honestly must have amazing gluten free selection there!! Its great that you all are supporting your child, hope it rectifies itself over time ! I've given my family gluten free versions of regular food that i have to eat and they pity me 😅
Just a quick note about gluten free - you need to check your sauces and spices aswell. Even meat! Sausage has gluten in it. ❤ good luck. Can’t wait to see how everything goes. ❤ I’m gluten free
Hi, could you please give some of the symptoms your child was having? Is glutinous free a low carb diet? I hope the little one starts feeling better soon 💕 thanks for sharing. You have such a calm, peaceful voice. Love all your videos. Have a beautiful day 💛 ✨️✨️
One of my older daughters just discovered she needed gluten free food (along with onion and garlic free) ....she said with gluten, she would get cramps and then loose stools. Very hard to cook my regular way because there is gluten in so many things. But if you do mostly fresh veggies, meat, poultry and don't use canned items , it's fine. There is gluten in canned soups and gravies. Our grocery store has a whole section for dietary issues...gluten free, organic, etc. For me, if I eat regular breads, I do get bloated but not with home made sourdough bread even though it uses reg flour.
Yes I understand. I was just taking so notes for myself (daughter) so I could ask her daughter some questions with our doctor that might be help full. Thank you for getting back with me ❤️❤️ I hope the food change really helps 🙏🏽
I have been gluten free for years. Occasionally, I buy gf bread or bagels. The easiest and most healthy way to eat gf is to eat naturally gf foods only - protein, nuts, veggies, fruit, dairy, etc.
Those with gluten intolerance generally do well with sour dough as well as ancient grains like einkorn. With sour dough the fermentation process reduces the gluten. Gf bread products not very good. Tolerable but….
Watch ACE homestead you learn a lot when it comes to gardens an canning. You can buy potatoes and just let them start getting eyes way cheaper. I grow mine in buckets never had a problem. Let your kids help with meal prep they learn a lot
Love watching your videos! Btw i work at Wholefoods , you find the gluten free breads in the frozen aisles. I agree their gluten free itmes are pretty much mixed with other non-gluten free foods. You just have to look for labels that say GLUTEN-FREE.
Hi Lauren - I had to stop eating gluten 5 years ago. Gluten is in so many things. For instance, you were cooking teriyaki wings. Soy sauce is usually in teriyaki sauce and soy has wheat in it. They do make gluten free soy sauce or you can use tamari sauce instead of soy sauce or coconut aminos for stir fry. I had to make sure my spices were gluten free because some use an anti-caking agent in them that contains gluten. Some brands of sausage have gluten. Hot dogs too. Some chicken stock contains gluten. I have found Swanson brand is gluten free. Canned soup can have gluten. There is an app that I have found helpful which is a GF Scanner. You can scan the bar code on an item and if listed in their database can let you know if it contains gluten. Good luck on your families GF journey. The good news is that more and more products are now using the GF label which is helpful. Take care and I love all your new glasses - great selection!
Thank you!! honestly I have never really read ingredients before and always thought I was doing a good job by adding fruits and veggies, and some little fund snacks here and there. But now that I am reading the labels of everything I realize how bad the things are that I've been feeding them. It is all very overwhelming but each day I am trying to learn more about what we are giving the kids. Processed food is terrible!
Great video. All the best in your GF transition. I believe Aldi has a large selection of GF things…and good prices but idk for sure. Or even if that store is in your area. Take care, hon.
I did so many plants and recently been listening to Mikaila Peterson podcast about her health when eating more meat. I’ve been amazing at the things I’ve been learning about benefits of real meat. Highly recommend ❤

Hu lauren, highly processed no meat proteins are not good for people struggling with gluten intolerance. It is much better to stay with meat for proteins.we have enough issues with malnutrition. This is an advice from someone who went that route and damaged her body more.
