A little error in the video. Back in the day, Xbox Live was paid. But, back then Playstation Network (PSN), which was Sony’s equivalent to Xbox Live was TOTALLY FREE, until they launched PS Plus with the PS4.
Well PS Plus existed with PS3. And it existed for the sole purpose of giving games on a subscription service, which XB later copied with "Games with Gold", because before PS Plus XBLG was just an online paywall.
Why should we have to pay to play trials and demos? Back in the day, before the "influencer" movement, we would have demo discs etc. Demo's got us to where we were a few years ago, and this pay wall has stopped that and is holding gaming back.
Except now a days even a small demo would have to come on a flash drive Edit: and considering the budget to games now vs then, the pay wall is worth it. Aka Crash Bandicoot VS GTA V
For me, the fact that Stray was a day 1 release and was £30 meant I could save money by just upgrading to premium between now and January for £22 so I got all the other games included too, included about 10 new games I still hasn't played yet so I've saved £100s
Now if only they did that on their first-party games and not third-party indie games... by the time PS puts one of their first-party titles on the service I would have already bought it at a step discount.
@@Spartan_83 not only will first-party games not hit the service till years later when no one is really playing it anymore, they put all the PS3 games on the ultimate tier only which has a lot of titles I actually want to play but I'm not paying that much.

Am I the only one who's more excited about the classics catalog than the game catalog? Yeah, sure I can play them on those original systems, but there are tons that I either never got a chance to play or I no longer have a working copy of those games. This is absolutely a huge selling point for me to get the premium package. But, maybe I'm just the odd one out. Lol
I'm on PS5 and I'm definitely upgrading to extra in December when my essential runs out. I'm always buying the essential anyway so that little extra cost seems very much worth it. I have bought my yearly subscription during the Black Friday for years now though so I really hope that Extra gets a good Black Friday discount as well.

@@saadhq3356 Extra basically the Netflix of games so any game can be removed from the catalogue at any time. You don't claim anything and if your subscription runs out you won't have access to any of those games until you re-sub. You can still claim the free monthly games that you also get with the Essential, but just like before, you can only play them of you have the Essential or better subscription active.

I have a PS4 Slim and I just subbed to PS Plus Extra at the end of last month and for me I think it's worth it because I'm still kind of new to PlayStation, cause the last PS console I had was the first one and I've mainly been Xbox since the OG Xbox. But I have a XSX and a PS4 Slim and I don't know when I will upgrade to a PS5 (I don't even know if I will get one anytime soon) cause I've still been enjoying the combination of Xbox game pass ultimate and PS Plus Extra on my two systems. I'm glad Sony made this game pass like service because it has been awesome for me to be able to have both subscription services.

I have had the Series X since the holidays of 2021, but even getting that was a 100% fluke as Target miraculously had a single unit as a I walked by. As a guy who has been out of the PS ecosystem for a bit, the little catalogue in the Essential tier has a bunch of stuff that I haven't experienced, so that seems like an alright deal to me. I'm sure I'll eventually go up to the "extra" tier after I exhaust the "essential" stuff that interests me, but the top tier doesn't interest me. Although games preservation is indeed important, I don't have an interest in playing PS1 games on my PS5. I understand the appeal for some folks, but it's just not for me. Every time I go back to some of that stuff from my childhood, it just disappoints me as it isn't the same thing that I remember in my head, even if it has been remastered. I would rather just leave my childhood games in the past, and move on to the new stuff. But again, that's just me - games preservation = important. Old games = important.

Xbox had been charging for their Live online service while Playstation did not, and then Playstation saw the revenue they were missing out on and finally made their online service a paid service also.... @@The-FlashYT1 Any game that you get through ESSENTIAL, you can still play those games if you upgrade to extra/premium HOWEVER If you get a game that is exclusive to PS Extra/Premium members, and you eventually downgrade to PS Essential, you will not be able to play any games that came with PS Extra/premium

Microsoft and Sony have these game subscriptions for targeted audiences to have the casual gamer and people that don't buy games or alot of games on a regular basis. Not as much for hardcore gamers at least. Not to say hardcore gamers couldn't enjoy those subscriptions. But they won't be worth as much to them that already played those games or don't want to go back to them for nostalgia

What's up peeps my advice is to all of you that have PlayStation 5 or Playstation 4 consoles if you guys have any advice for me right now because I'm just like right now I see the PlayStation Plus what I'm trying to say is to upgrade I get the PlayStation Plus premium but the cost is $10.19 95 or $15.28 for 12 months but cost is 119.99 there you go please give me like I said give me an advice so do I get that because it's saying the next charge it's going to charge me $119:99 every 12 months
If I do get the 119.99 whats let's say $15.28 a month for 12 months so it's going to be like $15.28 every month or do they take it out automatically 119:99 dollars a month please let me know ASAP
