Idk if you were watching the NBA back then or not but this Orlando team was actually built on three point shooting, one of the first teams structured that way. No one was running 4 out with a team full of shooters and one post before this, other than the Suns with Nash and Dantoni.

Also on feeding Dwight on the low post, it definitely worked. They were competitive because of it. Which is why I hate that he got a reputation for not being good at it and people wanted him to play like non superstar bums like DJ and just set screens all game

David Stern Requested That The Magic Take Rafer Skip To My Lou Alston Out, Replaced Him With Jameer Nelson. Rewatch When Skip Played, As Opposed To Jameer Nelson’s Style Of Play? If Rafer Alston Stayed In, Not Only Would He Have Won A Title, It’s Would Have Bought More Glory To Street Ball.

Man I swear if vangudy had played Gortot on the floor with Howard that shit would've went completely different. Dwight Howard was a fucking monster and they had to play a lineup of damn near 4 seven footers to stop him. He tried his best but Gasol, Bynum, Artest, Odom and kobe were too tall of a team for him to beat.

  • @lioninthesun

People act like the Lakers were stacked but looking back he did carry them. Pau was soft and wouldn't have been a hall of Famer without Kobe. Bynum had great potential but not great production those two years, Odom was good but not consistent and Fisher was average and they had good role players but Kobe did carry them

I know Bynum & Gasol did a great job on him but a part of me also feels he was somewhat passive & settled for the foul. Man Dwight played horrible offensively in this series shooting only 48% while only attempting paint shots, he simply had no touch missing blatant wide open layups 1:28 , averaging only 2 assists a game while being surrounded with shooters like jj reddick, turkoglu, rashard Lewis.
While playing amazing against he shit the bed against the lakers.
While many will say “lakers were double teaming him in the post” well to that I say what does it mean if your getting double teamed? It means your teammates are open but Dwight made no attempt to pass out when he had snipers wide open at the 3.
    Examples:
Jameer Nelson and Lewis both wide open for 3 1:19
This is exactly what he should of been doing all game instead of forcing shots on double teams 1:39
This is actually a good decision seeing as how Rafer Alston shot 3/19 from 3 this series 2:00
44% from 3 Turkoglu is literally wide open and so is lee 2:33
2:58 he gets the offensive rebound JJ reddick who shoots over 50% on wide open 3’s is wide open, even though Dwight made the shot bad play
These are just the highlights I’m watching and I could imagine what the full game looked like.
