The life of the great leader of the Korean people Kim Il Sung was a life brilliant with field guidance. He called on the people, walking rugged roads rain or snow. Since he left his home village Mangyongdae and set out on the road of revolution President Kim Il Sung always found himself among the people and, relying on them, waged an arduous revolutionary struggle against the Japanese imperialists and liberated the country. After he returned home in triumph after liberation, he called on the workers of the then Kangson Steel Works, passing by his longed-for native home within a hailing distance. He made a long, ceaseless journey of field guidance from the beginning of the building of a new society to the last days of his life.
Here is a touching story. On the way back from his field guidance to several local areas in the early autumn of Juche 36 or 1947 President Kim Il Sung called at a remote mountain hamlet in Yangdok. When he visited his simple house, the old host, showing him a notebook in which he had jotted down his excitement of the day, said: "I wrote in this notebook that General Kim Il Sung visited my home. I will hand it down to my children." With a smile on his face President Kim Il Sung warmly said to him that he should write that golds should be picked from all mountains and hand it down to the children.
The life of his field guidance is decorated with such legend-like stories. In the last days of his life, too, President Kim Il Sung made all efforts for the people´s happiness on the road of his field guidance.
The footprints of his field guidance are found in all parts of the country ranging from the northern border of the country to a rural village near the demarcation line, from a small fishing port on the east coast to a far-off island on the West Sea. The course of the field guidance he made for the people all his life is as long as 14 rounds of the globe and a half. Indeed, the life of the great President Kim Il Sung was a life of field guidance he made for the happiness of the people and for the prosperity of the country.

During most of Kim Il-Sung's rule, esspecially 60s and 70s, North Korea had high living standard and was far more advanced then South Korea, who was troubled by political instability and problems, but as 80s went on and USSR started crumbling, so did North Korea. Today opinions about him are very divided. Older generations have fond memories of his rule, while younger generation only know about him from what people who came after him told them about it. Problem is that new regimes that came after his death in 1994, which were anything but positive and good, had used his name and image to show their own legitimacy and thus created vision of him being like them, which isn't true.
It's pretty easy to create a high living standard when your economy is being propped up by the USSR and China, oversee a famine start, and die before it gets serious.

I must admit that I am fascinated with the exploits of Kim Il Sung and his skilled leadership of the DPRK. Truly he has been and always will be the eternal president.

Yes, some perspective of others say that Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines is the best and the most intelligent president, so is Kim Il Sung of North Korea anyway in my perspective, as the most intelligent and the best Eternal President who is Kim il Sung.
Well, Ferdinand Marcos was a dictator who squandered his country's wealth and resources. The opinions of those who think highly of the Filipino dictator were wrong. It is also wrong to compare him with the DPRK's Eternal President. Their politics were polar opposites.
Robert Polanco, some say that Ferdinand Marcos is the best, most intelligent president while others believe otherwise. In other side, some media claims (such as the biased ABS-CBN or Inquirer) say that Ferdinand Marcos is a "(quasi)dictator", "autocrat" or "strongman".
Are you a Marcos Loyalist or do you compare DPRK's Eternal President and the Philippines' most intelligent best president? Do not argue.
I'm not really sure what to think of him. He seems like he may have had good intentions of the people. I believe that is was his son and grandson who fucked up his legacy. In this video, the people seem genuinely happy to see him. Looking at videos from 1994 onward, the people look terrified of Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un. During most of Kim Il Sungs reign, they had a better economy than both South Korea and china. I'm sure he did some horrible things, but not as nearly on the same scale as his son and grandson.

I wonder if you have any proofs of what you say, which is merely echoes of what the Western media say about him, always without the slightest proof. The repetition of allegations against the Korean Revolution has turn huge lies into truths in millions of Western people. That is the power of the private corporate and cartelised media.
If ever there was a truly "Evil Empire" America must look in the mirror and ask for forgiveness for its numerous transgressions. Every empire the world has ever seen has come to an inglorious end and America will be no different.
