      You got a really good stable beast mate, I really think its a great combo as I was testing the 7760 in that configuration. The i9 version in the 7560 isn't so good and would suggest people to skip it or go to the i7. I am really really happy with this year's new mobile Xeon!

    The internals are just spectacular. I found it very nice it newer XPS and newest "XPS-like" designwise Precisions, and it performs well too, it's sleek and stylist and still has the expendability almost of desktop PC... The proper mobile workstation, I love that series since I first owned M4600 back in 2011 or 2012 I think..

      I went for Xeon. They had the high end one and a lower one. Went for the lower but still Xeon :) I did two harddrives with raid. Not sure if that was nessesary

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  3 года назад +2

      Both of the new Xeons are really decent processors so you be happy with either one. Here is the funny story about raid, I might be wrong in my thinking and happy for someone who is more of an expert to correct me. I don't think RAID in NVMe drives are as important or as beneficial for performance as before when we had spin hard drives since the whole mechanics of accessing data on NMVe drives are so much quicker. I would only use RAID 1 for redundancy for NVMe drives then speed.

    Fantastic review content and nice editing. I found your channel only after ordering a fully loaded 7760, due to a last minute decision to upgrade from the 7560. Your two 7760 vids have provided some very welcome reassurance, and the step up in edit and presentation of this most recent content is excellent.

Atm limited by time and knowledge since this is a thing I do in my off hours from my day job. Hopefully soon there should be hopefully a bump up in quality of the videos . Wow you have a 7560 and wanted to go to 7760 is it due wanting larger screen size or the 120hz 4k display or the extra M.2 slot?

      Just wondering if you use a riser / laptop stand or cool mat with the 7760 for your office based use, and if so - which do you recommend ?
      I'm having difficulty finding one wide enough that doesn't look like a monstrosity, and many are not vented.

    I recieved mine on Friday.
    It is certainly substantial & weighty !
    Very nicely built.
    I've currently got it processing over 3500 ~8GB images from an aerial survey.
    The A5000 GPU cruised through the initial matching process where the GPU does the brunt of the work, however the CPU is now being called on @ 100% it's currently throttling at ~3.2-3.7 GHz and the fans are cranking.
    A little surprising, but somewhat reassuring that I made the last minute decision to change my order from the 7560 considering the difference in thermal performance shown in your respective reviews.

      Great to hear you received your 7760, it definally a better choice to go with the thicker 7760/7560 over the 5560, once you get to the A3000 and above the thermal capablities of the 75xx/77xx start to really show it's true colors for stability in performance. Hi,
    I bought the version with i9 11950h (same as xeon without ECC support +50€), A5000 and 128gb. I'm so happy, the fan noise is very good. I tested at the same time a 3ds max scene with a 150M polygon, a 200MB revit project with RPC, a 500MB photoshop file, adobe premier and many web browsers... All at the same time and working on 3ds max , high performance fan setting. Fan noise was never higher than room noise (37dB) for this productivity work, significantly better than my old laptop (RTX 2070, i7 9750h) and so much smoother.
    I don't regret this second choice, at first I would have preferred the HP fury G8, but the thermal management of this Precision is really perfect and the price is almost halved...

    I have been waiting for this review for a while!
    So far, the only gripe that I have is the poor implementation of Nvidia Optimus by Dell. In Windows 10, with the iGPU enabled, even with no programs running on the dGPU, the dGPU is always on. This causes battery life to be extremely poor. I will dual boot with Linux (I have 2 drives) to see if Optimus works on Linux.
    Other than that admittedly annoying issue, there are no glaring problems with it. Everything about it just feels nice, which is what all desktop replacements should feel like.

    This is a great Workstation ! The only problem with this machine that this a a Dell laptop. Every day another problem. they built great machines from the base line lab - but not pay attention to developing and fix common problems with their boards, bios, software and more. a lot of Dell's user's say that all around the web and everywhere. After my personal experience with Dell's I can say that their machines are good as a second laptops and not the primary one - this one that you need to be there for you every day and every moment. Dell's is the machines that you are need time and money to maintain and fix a lot if you want to enjoy them and this is the only reason that after 3 Dell's (that was top of the line Dell's Like XPS and Latitude) I made my change to other brands. No laptop is perfect but the laptop needs to serve you, not you need to serve the laptop.

    I was kind of sad about their battery performance, and also about the camera, even with the COVID-19 experience, and they still don't learn that we need a good camera and good studio microphones?
    I wonder if in the next update to the DELL PRECISION, they could include the touch screen option, even with their stylus for 2D drawing and modeling 3D designs.
    If they did, and they will continue to update and improve all the other components of the DELL PRECISION: They would have a great competitive advantage over other brands, such as the Asus ProArt Studiobook Pro 16 OLED, which included a rotary control on the keyboard.
    But I think, if the DELL PRECISION, apart from its future updates and component improvements: If it could come with the touch screen, and pencil to draw 2D and model 3D designs, and that its screen rotates 360 degrees it would be the monster of creative design and the productive profession!!! 😎👍

      Thanks @Alex Garcia appreciate the feedback. Battery life on these large mobile workstations are usually never amazing especially of this size. The dGPUs that can be configured in these large mobile workstations are usually the most power hungry component. The 17inch market are desktop replacements so these are usually tied down to mains power just portable from site to site really. A way to save power and get longer battery life is to turn off the dGPU in the BIOS if you aren't needing the graphical/compute power of the dGPU, which should give you significate battery life boost.
      As for the webcam I am 100% agree with you, a computer like this should even skip the 1080p and have a 4k webcam. The cost of this computer won't shy the people for the little extra cost, just give us the ability to choose it would be good.
      As for being a 2-in-1 it would be a dream and can see good professions who could take advantage of digital pen support, and would still be nice to have option for touch panel too in the next version of the precision 7xxx series.

      The screen is really nice in the 5760 but in terms of performance compare to 7760, it's not even close I am afraid. 7760 has rock stable high performance, the 5760 is more suited for burst speed performance for under 20 seconds and medium performance to minute and half in my opinion. 5xxx is more about looks and thin and weight. 7xxx is all about performance. With the 5xxx once the dgpu starts getting loades up it degrades the performance extremely quickly whereas the 7xxx if the dgpu is loaded up it barely effects it too much.

      This all depends on how much you need a new computer? If you coming from two-three year old laptop, the performance in this is big increase and for me, if it saves a lot of time then its worth purchasing even the 2-3months wait. We won't see the next generation till June/July next year anyway so you still get good 6 months of big performance increase to save time.

    Hey @bsiandad I just gave a quick look at the 7760 benchmarks against the 7750 of your videos. Great that you used the same tests so they are comparable :)
    To be honest I'm shocked! The 7750 of last year was not top tier, i-7 core and T1000 vs the Xeon 11th gen of this year and a rtx 4000 (!) of the 7760. Yet the benchmarks are not in favor of the newer version, quite the opposite despite the odds. This is a mobile workstation so it's meant to be used by professionals like engineers working on Catia, Creo and similar, and fps on specview of those softwares was terrible on the 7760 compared to the 7750. What do you think about it? I'm looking for a new PC and I need a workstation, to be honest I feel like going for the older brother is even better (and maybe cheaper) what are your suggestions?

    Hi, is combining xeon with non-ecc ram better performance or with ecc? thx

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  3 года назад +3

      If you after pure speed performance @Adb B then the Non-ECC RAM is what you are after. Both the ECC and Non-ECC RAM are 3200MHz but the Non-ECC can be boosted up to 3466MHz. ECC normally would sacrifice speed for stability and accuracy.

      Non-ecc RAM is generally faster than ecc ram, but there is absolutely no point of the Xeon if you won't get ecc ram. The Xeon has no performance improvement over its Core counterparts.

    • @vivek_v
      @vivek_v 3 года назад +2

      @@abdessamadbouaicha3286 The price difference is also dependent on regions. I believe in the UK, it costs much less to upgrade to the higher spec components compared to the US, but the starting price is much higher.
      However, intel CPU's don't really care about RAM latency so since you have the Xeon, might as well use ECC ram in it.

    Did the 4k screen have a lot of backlight bleed on your test unit? Mine came on Nov. 5th. and it was like the screen wasn't fully attached (could slip my fingernail between the bezel and screen almost the entire way around the screen). It went in to the service center right away due to other issues it was having. It came back and the metal plate above the ethernet port (midway) was "kinked" like someone took a damn screwdriver to it, the screen was still doing its thing and they didn't re-install the Dell support software suite that I had paid for. Dell QA/QC and service sucks for these $4,000+ workstations that come in packaging like they are straight out of a refurbished outlet...

      Great to hear you manage to get this beast and I hope you are finding it suits your needs. As for the docking station due to the large power requirements only the WD19DC/WD19DCS dock has the dual USB-C to fully support the charging requirements. The WD19DC/WD19DCS will also support the dual 2k @ 60Hz, here is the resolution table on which ports will work for the dual (www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-au/dell-wd19dcs-dock/wd19dcs_user_guide/display-resolution-table?guid=guid-cb54f38b-163a-41bf-8b2e-3e6f3835d2ea&lang=en-us). That doesn't make sense to be honest. I am trying out a ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 with RTX A4000 (115w and dynamic boost to 135w) and it's giving me pretty much equal results in gaming to my Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 6 with an RTX 3070. I'm interested in this Dell laptop, only because of the screen having 120hz, the speakers being better and potentially the keyboard as well (though I'd miss having the TrackPoint as I love those), but if performance isn't good, I will have to move on. I have a ThinkPad P16 on order, about to be shipped, RTX A4500, and it has a vapor chamber like my current Legion, so we'll see how that goes.

      Seeing optometrist for better medical suggestions. If it's only the 7760 causing it here is few suggestions: 1. check the refresh rate is set to 60hz or higher as some displays in the 7760 can go 120hz to try help less flickering if under 60hz. 2. decrease the brightness or using night mode scheme in windows helps with less overall white on the screen. 3. Try out some anti/low blue light products like screen filters or glasses, from my experience with the anti-blue light glasses I have felt less eye strain.

      Hi @Tann, all commerical laptops and mobile workstations have backlit keys as option, if you buying not directly from the manufacture then check the description on that unit to see if it has been already configured with backlit keys. If you buying this directly from Dell just make sure you have it configured with backlit keys the price difference to have this option or not is so small but when businesses buy these in bulk these small cost differences does add up hence the option for it.
