Very helpful video. I bought a filing cabinet many years ago from Goodwill for $6 that doesn't have a lock. Will be installing one ASAP. So grateful for this video.
My cabinet lock somehow popped out, but I was able to put it back together because your video helped me to understand the mechanism of these locks, and I could apply it to mine. Well done, thanks!
Pretty much the same process Remove top drawer Remove secure piece from behind Unhook clip from file bar (need needle nose plier) and lock should come out 3 steps and lock kit will release
Just One of the draws won't Stay locked in the vertical cabinet. It's a oval shaped lock =. I tried taking out the draw and reinserting that one drawer (2nd from the top) won't catch ]. What to do ?
@@metalcabinetliquidators2760 oh ok,. So there's no way to repair the inner part that's broken. I just noticed this by chance When I mistakenly pulled it and it opened when the rest were locked. But thank you for your reply on this

Cool edutainment video. However, how does that one lock for the top drawer lock the other 3 bottom drawers?
With my file cabinet like this, when the top drawer is completely clicked closed without a lock, the other 3 drawer will still open.

Ouch. Those are a different breed unfortunately. I would call a locksmith on those. Sorry about that

The piece that keeps the drawer locked is either broken or bent. Oval lock is an older version. May be time for a new file cabinet if broken

How does this lock all the drawers?
There’s a vertical bar along the right side of the file cabinet that locks all the drawers when u turn the key.
