bruh they made the movies like that. in the books professor mcgonagall gives harry the broom without anyone knowing and told him to open it without anyone knowing
Actually, the owl delivered it to him in the great hall just like in the movie, but it's true that she also attached a note telling him not to open the package in front of everyone (even though it was quite obvious what it was but still...)

2. They lost because Charlie wasn't on the team anymore.
3. Madame Hootch is the referee for Hogwarts quitich and the Slytherins weren't cheating in the book like they were in the movie.

What I'd like to know is something often seen in memes: was it school's money that was used to buy the broom? I think that wouldn't be okay when Harry is rather rich, while there isn't a humanitarian fund for students who can't afford brooms and are also chosen for the team. Some of them use school brooms or have bought second hand and/or cheap ones, but if they can buy the best broom for a rich student, they can buy at least some better ones for the poor.
I don't think this was a good situation to make an exception in terms of purchase, because Harry's financial status didn't require it. It would've been okay to simply tell him he is allowed to buy a broom. Like this, it really looks like favoritism.
Of course, if it wasn't the school's money but Harry's, scratch all this.

Honestly, I don't see how Oliver Wood is even the Quidditch captain while he's at Hogwarts. Sure Gryffindor wins matches thanks to Harry, but Oliver is a really bad Quidditch player, at least when it comes to the movies.
