That fraying of the yarn would be very frustrating. The shawl is very beautiful though. Both of them are. I am not great at reading patterns and usually need visual to help.
Beautiful results, but with the expense and the problem with knots and fraying, I wouldn’t recommend either! Big hugs 🤗! I got some help with how to pronounce Scheepjes by someone from The Netherlands- she said pronounce like shape - yas. It’s so much easier too! Both shawls are lovely! Love ❤️ ya!
I would suggest contacting Scheepjies about the quality of the yarn changes. This may or may not be the norm. The knots in the other yarn would be a headache for knitters. I also crochet and hate those knots.

I agree the price is crazy. I think the other yarns are better. Why pay more if you don't have to do so.

Was the yarn a bit cheaper because they knew it was not up to standard? But they should have said so if that was the case

I can't remember but all you do is make sure it goes around your arm
