This is not a typical development site. It is the opposite. The very type of green field that the government claims should NOT be built on. Despite repeated pleas from the local community and Burgess Hill Town Council, Mid Sussex District Council are still moving forward with their plans to bulldoze southern Burgess Hill's unofficial green gap. The home to numerous threatened species from hazel dormice and serotine bats to colonies of great nested newts. This site is not needed. The district has already identified enough homes to fulfil its housing requirement. So we want to know how they can justify the need to change the landscape forever while releasing tons of carbon and destroying a whole host of threatened wildlife. All this, while at the same time signing up to the Blue Campaign to promote the rewilding of public and private places.....why oh why, when this is already here and thriving? We have tried to do everything so far to get the District Council to listen to us, please if you care about nature and the state of the planet for you and future generations, share and please sign our petition on change.org: www.change.org/SaveMidSussexNatureHaven

I'll sign this. It's all over Mid Sussex. Developers just about to rip out hedgerow and bulldoze trees and fields near me in Walstead to put in another few hundred houses! Thousands of news houses, but hardly any affordable ones, no improvement to infrastructure, no cycle lanes or crossings so people pretty much forced to drive everywhere. The council doesn't seem to have a plan, they just let or get paid off by developers who do what they like.

What a spectacularly beautiful video...nightingale singing and wildlife each side of the fence! Beautifully captured.
PLEASE MSDC DO NOT build houses in this wildlife haven.

Signed. The whole of mid Sussex is becoming unrecognisable due to over priced housing without any development of infrastructure.

It's so sad I know, it's so important that we do all we can to register our objection to these things. They will eventually have to take notice. Thanks so much for signing.

Can you please give more information about who you are, how to get in touch with you and how to find more information abut this development plan. I am a Hassocks resident. Thank you

Hi Justine I'm so sorry I've only just seen this comment. This site is bordering Hassocks and Burgess Hill. You can contact us directly at info@soflag.co.uk. We'd love to hear from you.

Have you considered using ‘Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) to prevent Thakeham and Charles Church from getting planning permission? .....Under the Environment Act 2021, all planning permissions granted in England (with a few exemptions) will have to deliver at least 10% biodiversity net gain....If the site is rich in wildlife and habitats then getting 10% gain shouldn’t be possible, therefore preventing planning permission from being granted for the new housing development.

I was born in the early 1950s and have witnessed first-hand during my life, how much of the English landscape and bio-diversity in nature has been lost since then. However, I have seen the destruction accelerate alarmingly during the last decade, primarily as a direct result of the scrapping of the long-established planning regulations under David Cameron's 'Conservative' Party and their replacement with the NPPF, which was effectively a 'Developer's Charter'. This has resulted in so many unsightly and unsustainable 'Lego-Land' housing developments in totally inappropriate areas such as river valley flood-plains, former sites of ancient woodlands and even designated AONBs, with the majority of the actual housing being anything but 'affordable'.
The United Kingdom - and especially the South East of England - is already grossly over-populated but is destined, thanks to a complicit ruling criminal elite, to become a dystopian concrete jungle akin to the likes of Hong Kong. I am sorry to be so negative but that is the reality as I see it.
