I remember vividly coming home from school super excited to turn on the television set and watch this show, right along with Double Dare. The good ole days of my youth. 🤗
@retroflashbackdude When we filmed this show Finders Keepers had not aired yet, so the first experience I had with how it worked was being on it. It was one of the very first episodes... And I got to go to Space Camp!!!
I'm glad you got to go to Space Camp, that's awesome. I used to watch this and think it had one of the toughest bonus rounds in all the kids game shows I used to watch. It looked like kids had to look for needles in haystacks with not enough time and it looked impossible sometimes. There were 3 rooms left and you guys were pretty quick and efficient. They needed to put more time on that clock. I think they just didn't want anyone to win the whole thing lol
I haven't thought about this show in over 20 years. And as I'm sitting here in bed dozing off, a mental image of a kid searching through a room popped into my mind. I knew it had to be a Nickelodeon game show because they had a lot of shows with kids searching through junk. But this memory was specific. So I Google Nickelodeon 90s game shows and this pops up. Just marveling at the wonders of the internet, Nickelodeon in the 90s, and how memory works.
Always was one of my favorite shows while eating a salad or something . Talking like around 2002 when I was still in elementary. This and Brady bunch ftw
Back in Nickelodeon's golden years. When their shows weren't all horrendous and extremely uneducational. In fact, they were not only great shows, but very educational. Even one of their classics-- You Can't Do That On Television-- was educational in a cryptic sort of way. Very interesting show.
I disagree. MOST of there shows were never educational. That’s why I liked them. They were better than the ones today but they were never educational. In fact, the creator of You Can’t Do that on Television specifically made sure his show wasn’t educational because PBS and most other kids shows had that market tied up already.
yea for real like they hid a item in the talking fish's mouth.... like are you serious? i would never think to look in there in that short amount of time if ever lol
One of the greatest kids game shows ever made! I think this show needs a 21st century revival! Am I the only one who thinks that or does someone agree with me on that?!
OMG,RUclips never ceases to amaze me.This brings back soooooo many memories.i used to LOVE this show.I wish I could go back to this age.i watched it religiously! Thanks for uploading
This was worth watching just to see the old commercials. Side note, you know you're getting old when commercials from the 90s start seeming as cheesy as the ones from the 80s.
@TheGrungeGamer2 I still have that Haircut!!! My mom did make me get a haircut the day before we taped the show so its a fresh mullet at least;) and it was more than 20 years ago so I am not too upset.. at the time I genuinely thought I invented that haircut cause I had never seen it before:)
I watched Nickelodeon for entire childhood in the 90s, but not ONCE did I ever see this show! I remember seeing Family Double Dare, Wild and Crazy Kids, and some other gameshows, but where the heck was THIS one?!
@@CJWJR Well this one did pretty much drop off the radar around 1990, from what I remember. I was quite surprised when I re-encountered it on "Nick GAS" later in the mid-'00s. Quite a flashback to something I hadn't seen or heard about since I was very small.
Also, I suppose it differed from fellow show Double Dare in that the latter really put Nickelodeon on the map and spawned multiple variation shows which prolonged its momentum (into the 90s). Besides of course creating a big star and human mascot for the network in Marc Summers. Whereas while FK was fairly popular for about 1-2 years, it more or less just came and went (quietly).
@greenwater735 Double Dare was out first and already Blue and Red, and the part that noone says anything about is that we all got Converse All Star Sneakers!!!! They said that they were safe to run around in... mine were bright orange, but I wore them every day for almost a year anyway!!!
@animegal2686 I can remember being really excited to meet Harvey cause I knew him from seeing double dare... we filmed this in Pennsylvania and I think its where they did DD back then too and they filmed like 3 episodes that day so I bet he just did a few days here and a few days there for both shows without any problems...
Thanks for posting this! I couldn't think that fast- those kids were ahead of me! They start tearing up the room while I'm still trying to think of what they should be looking for. The hidden images, I didn't catch any of the hidden image ones until after the kids said what they were.
I always wondered what went into the production of this show? How they were able to change up the rooms constantly, how they were able to reset all the rooms between rounds too.
I like how its kind of.....not professional with the kids being awkward and not scripted, seeing the producers and cameras, and the host messing up lines and being weirs.
I always thought the teams were friends, relatives, whatever. But apparently they didn't even know each other (most times). That's why most of the kids seem so nervous and anxious.
They need to have a nickelodeon thing like they do for Disney plus but they need to have the old shows like this show, DD, legends of the hidden temple, guts
We tried playing this in my friend's house as a kid. His mother *really* did not appreciate us ransacking her bedroom. (P.S. But I found the coffee mug.)
if someone at a big network ever read this post they would get the highest ratings imaginable if they aired old Nick programs. 80s-mid 90s nick had the greatest shows on tv and would be just as great today as they were back then
@Mr. matthew smith [& everybody else] here, yes, back on Thursday, January 14, 1988, this then-"Finders Keepers" game show had Mr. Wesley Eure as its previous host[though actually, his real last name's "Loper"] just as his former studio announcer there was Mr. John Harvey[though usually called only "Harvey"]!
They should've automatically given each team 1 room to search. I've seen too many episodes where one team has several rooms while the other has none. It's always kinda sad...
I very vaguely remember this show (I was maybe 5 years old?) But watching this now as an adult, I feel like 30 seconds was not enough time to find what they were looking for. 30 seconds to find a hacky sack in a room THAT detailed with stuff? I mean, come on. Or even the little clear plastic hippo on the top shelf, kids aren't going to look up for stuff at all, their focus is eye level or below.
Back when Nickelodeon was gold for us 80’s kids.

If nick hasn't done this already, I hope they bring this show back because I always got really excited watching kids demolish rooms like this.
swensation55 same here man that nostalgia trick

NO. Enough reboots.
I hope the Finders Keepers the Nickelodeon Version appearance sporadically on TeenNick’s block NickRewind.

Yo, that's a great prize for now!
@tvshowkid I taped this episode because I was on it, so it's the only one I have...

The mullet is the great equalizer. It doesn't discriminate. Man. Woman. Child.
Deuchbags, idiots, actual cool dudes with mullets and I met an architect once with a pretty dope one too it really does not know any boundaries
Here we are in 2021 and they’re more popular than ever

Now this is a game show! Its not only fun and unique but it kept kids active. Nick back in the day really had some gems. Shame what its become today
Cool, an original run of Finders Keepers "Not a Nick GAS rerun"
I love this old show! My twin brother and I used to watch this every chance we got. Our older brother almost got to be a contestant on FK.
Damn, awesome that you left the commercials in. A lot of memories. I had forgotten about this show until today!

That snare took me all the way back to the 80's and I was born in 91.
Man this brings me back to my childhood!
“Fabulous trip to Huntsville Alabama!” You don’t hear that so much anymore
I remember when Huntsville was this "Must go" destination, if only because of the Space Camp they had and we were still hocked up on that.
30 years ago...christ thats crazy I used to love this show 😅
truthful mullet, so 80s......so kool u got to be on the show

Those are some serious hiding spots. Dayum...

This is obviously an early taped episode. u can tell by wesleys wardrobe and harvey announcing.
I wonder if the early taped episodes of Finders Keepers inspired Double Dare go to Blue & Red?
They need to do a remake of this show and put it on Nickelodeon with Wesley Eure hosting.. RIP Toys R Us!!!!!
@Brandon Taylor Well that fucking sucks. Can't just leave anything alone, can they?
