Thanks for the encouragement Brea :)
In the end it's all worth it.

Thanks for everything about this video, but especially thanks for posting your exam transcripts. "Pick yourself back up,' is very easy advice to give someone who just failed. So it's pretty easy for someone who's failed to shrug that sort of advice off as trite and 'just lip-service'. Actually seeing the proof that you've struggled the way we are now and kept going is 100x more motivational and driving than any tip or trick out there.

Thank you for making this video, Brea! Aspiring actuaries need to hear your message. I just failed FM last week due to insufficient practice on Adapt. I’m registering my second attempt for February; I know that I’m going to knock it out of the park! Failing is just a process to become successful!

Love the positive energy! That's right! Failing exams is really common and now you know exactly what you need to work on for the next time around. Good luck!

I failed my first exam today (FM) and this video was exactly what I needed. At least I now have a better idea of what areas to focus more on! I’ve never failed an exam in my entire life until now so it was a shock for me to say the least

Sending you my virtual hug! 🤗 Failing an exam stings, but kudos for turning it into a learning experience. Identifying focus areas is clutch. Remember, setbacks set the stage for epic comebacks! :)

Thank you so much for this. I needed to hear this. I think I need to change my study strategy by doing as many practice problems I can while also trying to really understand the questions I got wrong. Just a little sad I need to wait until October and it will delay my exam progress... I guess its far enough for me to study a lot for it, but also close enough for it to not delay my progress that much right? Also, I really liked when you said "A true actuary doesn't give up without a fight"

Yeah, failing an exam never feels good :( Unfortunately, it's a pretty common experience. Remember that you aren't in this alone. Tons of future actuaries are going through this right along with you! So don't lose hope. I'd recommend checking out this article for tips to improve your study strategy: etchedactuarial.com/failed-actuary-exam/
Wishing you luck for your October sitting!!

I'm 2 exams in and luckily haven't failed one yet. However, I'm planning to fail IFM in 5 weeks, lol. I'm well aware of all the material and how difficult it can be, and the wise/rational parts of my brain say that it's too much given the time - and that it's really gonna eat my lunch. So I'm also planning to take it in March. What really drives me nuts is that I might pass in November (if I get lucky) and I still might fail in March. Just keep cranking.

For me, I was putting in the time but still failing. Perhaps my study strategy could have been better, was getting burnt out and needed to take a break from studying. And your transcript looks really good compared to mine, I started taking the exams BEFORE you and am STILL NOT ASSOCIATE.

Hey Ketty! Wow, I feel for you. It can be really rough to pass those first few, especially when you're still figuring out which study strategies work best for you. I'd recommend getting study material that matches your learning style, which you can learn more about here: etchedactuarial.com/best_exam_fm_study_guide/
I'd also highly recommend joining the waitlist for the Actuary Accelerator Community! The support you'll get there has helped lots of other people in a similar position get their first pass! :) You can do that here if you want: etchedactuarial.com/accelerator/

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear you’ve been struggling with Exam p! Honestly, I failed it a few times myself, so I hear you. Here’s how I’d recommend getting back on track: I’d take a complete break from anything related to exams and the actuarial field in general for two weeks. I indulged in all the things I hadn't been able to do while preparing for the exam. That's what worked for me. After two weeks, I would get back on track with a clean slate. Thanks to that two-week vacation! At that point, you can start taking a look at the areas you were weaker in, and get ready to retake the exam.
It's really about moving on and ensuring you're in a good state before diving back into exam preparation. You got this!

I'm not familiar with the process there, but I assume it would be unlikely for them to accept an appeal.
